I've hunted magpie geese in North Australia for many years and the way they behave in this game is a bit of an immersion breaker. They are very gregarious birds, forming large flocks and they usually come over in structured formations. We never hunted them using decoys, or over large deep lakes. They don't like to swim in deep water and feed by rooting around in very shallow water in the mud. We used to find a good natural hide in the sedge/reeds and intercept them along flight paths. Still, it's only a game.

Yeah COTW doesn’t base it that much on real life stuff. It’s more like an Arcade type game
As the saying goes in game development: “Playability/fun/functionality over realism”
I suppose they did it for simplicity.
Hey Ron, thanks for video -- after watching i went to the big peninsula just south of your location. I was there about 10 seconds when a flock flew overhead toward the open water.
I spotted a level 5 -- got all set up with the decoys and caller, -- reset the time, made sure there were no Crocs around - and within 5 minutes I spotted the level 5 again and called him in - he landed about 15 feet in front of me -- he was a Diamond Magpie Goose - my first Diamond on the new map.

it is a bit of a challenge but the location i use in the video works well. also the tips to keep salt water crocs away. cheers.
Hi Ron, another great video. i had given up on the magpie geese as i had never seen any. watched your video and found some finally. I also figured out a slightly different way which also avoids having to flush out the salties. Just set up decoys and caller 150m away from the hunting stands that are already on the map in the salties areas and you can use the .22. Tried it a little and it seems to work great. Keep the vids coming and happy hunting.

Superb guide, I need a Magpie for the multimount to go with my Piebald croc and the croc scaring them off has been a problem. Ive also been using the tripod so Ill change for a blind

Hey Ron, what's your overall opinions on the new map? It looks great for antlered/horned game
im loving it. i call it a proper hunters map as a lot of the game you dont just go to drink need zone times to hunt. you have to actually hunt.

I've not done much if any waterfowling in Cotw - is it normal to keep calling constantly like that?
you dont have to its 25 secs attraction it lasts. i just do it to make sure they come down.
How did you do this? Really i can handle bad games but not bad gameplay choices. I chase away all the crocs with 200-300 meter, but the moment i return to my blind all the crocs are back! I need to what sicko thought this was fun gameplay. I shot one goose in three real life hours so nine ingame hours. There is a special place in hell for people who make choices this bad.
it can be frustrating but atv shooting regular and time of day helps. id personally just make it so the magpie geese land regardless of crocs

How do you get them to land in the water
you have to put 20 decoys out. then clear the salt water crocs away from the area. then they will land.

are they better then classice magpie geese it did the beest spots to hunt them on my cluby fisherman chanel when i coulds still poost vifddeol to that chnnel and i loved hunting them on callsic i showed in that vide there was onny 2 spots that could put a gound/blind in the water to hunt geese from 1 spot ws realy close to that nortch lodge there was a showlow spot in water to put it up and then half way down there the rivver there was a spot to put tthe blind out so you can only have 2 spots in the water
ive tried a few spots and with the techniques i was doing in the video it worked well. there will be other spots they just need testing. have fun thanks.

That ground blind that your using I can’t use for some reason. When I go in the store it doesn’t show for me to buy it or it doesn’t show in my storage. Can you help me man?
you can use whichever ground blind you want. this comes in the tents and ground blinds dlc.

I just got trolled with level 5 Magpie goose:( (0.01 point to diamond), I think there is not another lvl 5 on my map now, can level 4 give diamond with reasonable chance?:) Cool channel BTW:)

Who can tell why they don’t sit on stuffed animals, but away from them, from the back, they took it, but not where they needed it

By the way -- anyone notice a glitch when shooting geese in the air with a shotgun - every time I hit one it folds up and freezes in mid air for about one second then keeps flying.
i have seen this and reported it.
