Another source for anvils is consignment auctions if they have them in a person's area. To date I have picked up an Emerson, Titan, and Hay Budden at such events. These are all at around the 112lb range. I have also used a sledge hammer head, piece of heavy leaf spring, etc.......like you said anything you can use. This is probably not the exact quote but, "A true craftsperson can make anything with nothing, while anyone can make something when they have everything." Take care my friend.

That’s true, I forgot about auctions and consignment stuff because I don’t have a lot of those in my area, but those are a great way to find anvils! And very well said with the craftsperson quote, I’m gonna have to remember that one!

@@ToddKoch Just remember I am the one that told you about FOG metal.........."found on ground". I just turned 65 years old last weekend. I have worked as a metal fabricator for 45 years plus......been smithing for about 15 years, give or take.......I enjoy your passion that you have for blacksmithing. Keep at it when you have the time. Looking forward to your next post.

I just found your channel as I stated a search for, well, anvils. I'm glad to stop on your video, not only for the knowledge you gave, but the fact that you're not broke neck starting at a phone. I'm a 40y/o disabled veteran looking for something tangible to do for productivity, therapy, and just plain fun. You've got yourself another sub. Maybe one day I'll start up my own channel or business and join this community of smithing. There's just something about needing something and making it yourself that speaks to me. I look forward to seeing more and will check out what you have already. Keep doing what you're doing. You don't have to get to 40 before figuring out what you want to do. Take care, man.

I ordered the 65lbs Doyle anvil from Harbor Freight and it just arrived last night! That was the last thing to show up out of all the stuff I ordered so I’m super excited! Now I just need to put my 2nd coat of refractory on my Mr Volcano and I’ll be good to go! Always appreciate the content man!

Thank you for the video. This is a great source of information. Will be using this information moving forward in the future when I add the forging portion of my shop.
    Thank you very much.

Thoughts on a plastic anvil? Because it will be better for the environment

I have thought about that sadly turtles sometimes choke on plastic anvils and I don’t want Leonardo Raphael Donatello or Michaelangelo to be hurt
