Followed instructions for my Mazda CX30. Upper strap that went to left top of my hatch pulled forward during trip(2 hours- 2 bikes) and bent edge of the hatch inward. Not happy.
Great summary. Over the years, I have had to change racks to fit different vehicles. Hatchbacks w slanted windows require more space to keep the bikes from making contact with the back of the car.
Skipping steps pretty much makes this video useless. You jump forward without explanations and suddenly straps are on the trunk lid without any instructions. Your manual that comes with the rack is utterly opaque with the drawings open to multiple interpretations.
I have a Honda CRV and the booklet guide seems to contradict this video? The book shows the lower feet being placed on the horizontal section of the bumper but the video is showing the feet placed against the vertical trunk surface?
Do the two upper arms stay clear of the rear wiper? In case it accidentally gets turned on? I have the Bones 2 which only has a single upper arm that was ok for my sedan. No good for my SUV so maybe the two arms here go higher?
i have an ATOPONE A9 mountain style bike folding bike....I don't know the official weight in pounds....but I know it is probable heavier than the 35 lb limit on one bike....what if That is the only bike i am attaching to the bones EX 2 bike rack....and i place it closest to the vehicle. Will it still be ok to use?
Looking to purchase this for a Honda CRV. Will it for? Also what security features does it have? Can I leave it installed parked on the street without worry?

I will be installing this rack on the rear hatch door of a VW Vanagon. Question - having the upper feet resting against the rear window glass is ok? I will locate the feet about 4” down from the top of the glass. I’m sure the glass is tempered - good strength by code. Thank you - Brent

I have a Bones EX 3-bike. I understand that the maximum weight capacity for this is 105 lbs at 35 lbs per bike. I was wondering if I can use a single bike weighing 70lbs on it without any problem.

Due to the soft spoiler at the top of the hatch of the Honda Fit, you will want to install the rack so that the lower feet sit in the license plate well. This will allow the upper legs to reach up under the spoiler and ensure proper support for the straps so that they do not pull on the spoiler. This will help prevent too much stress to your spoiler that could potentially cause vehicle damage if installed improperly.
In hanging style racks the front wheels do move, so creative tying or using wheel straps can help. We do sell wheel straps if you would like to secure it down. Here is a link: www.saris.com/product/wheel-straps.

These obscure the number plate and lights. Already been warned by police. So you have to factor in the £100's to get the number plate and lights bar . Or buy the cheaper models that hold the bike higher!
Very poor documentation. In particular, the explanation of what to do with the tangle of webbing that runs through the center tube when you take it out of the box is implied in milliseconds in this video, and omitted in the pictorial manual in the box that comes with instructions that are equally inadequate in several languages (i.e., industry standard)
The straps that hold the bike in and the part they connect to on the main assembly is cheap plastic. I’ve seen countless reviews that said they broke and their bike fell off or almost fell off. I bought it because it was on sale, but I can tell you it’s cheap. Please fix the most important part - the straps!

The Saris wesite says the Bones rack fits a Nissan Rogue. Does it fit a Rogue? Below you contradict this.

I don't have this particular rack, but I use ball bungees.

Bungee cords. You have to tie the front wheel to the bike to stabilize it.
