    I totally agree that training consistently and staying near 'fight condition' all year long, will prevent a lot of 'wear and tear' from getting out of shape and back into shape repeatedly.
    Then, the training period for a fight will be focused primarily on fight strategy and technique as opposed to having to concentrate on cutting weight.

  • @PeterJames143

    More interesting than most of your videos because you give inside knowledge I didn't know, like that lots of the fighters mostly only train for specific fights. Not sure it's 100% true but it's really interesting and I know it must be partly true. Thank you.

    I never watched or knew anything about ufc fights until a few months ago when somehow I clicked on the khabib/McGregor fight. It literally brought chills down my spine. People who make the choice to fight for a living have the biggest hearts and no fear in my opinion. I can't imagine what it takes for someone to willingly get into a cage knowing they could possibly walk away with a different face and outlook. These guys are literally trying to kill each other. I can't believe someone can't be punched in the nose to the point of it breaking and then having to endure more punches to the broken nose. I give these fighters so much respect cuz u have to be built different and be on a totally different level to make this a career. During that khabib/McGregor fight I couldn't decide who I was more impressed by?? Khabib for his technique and power or McGregor for being able to get his face and head smashed in for almost 2 rounds and still was able to get up and continue the fight. I've tried watching other fights but I'm on edge the entire time and can't get passed round 1 after what I saw in the khabib/McGregor fight. But I'm fascinated by the will power and heart all of these people have. This shit is brutal

  • @dperry203
    @dperry203 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mark Coleman vs Pete Williams is a good example of exhaustion in a fight. Eyes displayed, barely stand up, barely hold your hands half way up, punches look like your arm went limp half way into the punch, then you get kicked square in the mouth and knocked out.

  • @USALibertarian

    Fixing weight cutting would fix this. Think about it. Fighters could be physically ready for a fight in a week (or less) They'd fight more often. They'd stay in shape. Everyone would be ready to stand in for every card. They would have to stay ready because all their competition is always ready.

    Fair enough but a few points to consider:
    Randy is the outlier, and he also came from a different era when if you were a strong wrestler and had an overhand right you could be a champion. Different game today.
    What’s more appealing? Having a shorter run but achieving the highest levels (championships) or having a longer run but never really achieving your goals? Also consider the longer you compete the more injuries you accumulate of which are likely to get worst with time, long after our glory days in mma.
    Also consider the camp mentality. We call it camp but really it’s about “focus”, and removing distractions which MOST artists and athletes will tell you is CRITICAL in their success.
    I’m an artist/writer and I can tell you I’m never as good, as sharp and on point as when I’ve removed all distractions. It’s a sacrifice but you come out so much sharper. And that’s why they do it.
    Lastly, I like camping. Camping helps a man reconnect to himself in a way that’s very different and unattainable when he’s in the mix of family/career/society. It’s not necessary “better” but it adds another element to us that can be really transformative.

    Man, longevity is tough. I competed in my sports of choice for years and I was always of the mentality that more is more. I put too much wear and tear on my body and now I’m not even 25 and while I train as much as possible, my body literally can’t take the training it used to. I have to be extremely careful when choosing my workouts. It sucks.

    This is the inside track on what it take's to keep in shape at a high level, you live you learn .I know Chael trained with GSP and he has a different philosophy which works for him but different people different motivation .This is interesting good move coming down in weight, Chael isn't a heavyweight ,great to hear how training is going .

    "Train smarter instead of harder" isn't *death rattle* anymore, its a real phenomena. You can only train so long until your adrenals start pumping out cortisol and then you're working backward. Some brainiac figured out that if you take Phosphotidyle serine before a long workout, you can substantially delay the cortisol response. Hope this helps.
