- After their classical game ended in a draw, Praggnanandhaa was pitted against Alireza Firouzja in the Armageddon game at the Norway Chess 2024. Pragg had the white pieces and 10 minutes and was in a must-win while Firouzja had 7 minutes and a draw was fine for him. Check out this battle which ended in one of the players losing on time. I lost enthusiasm for this tournament after first day. Format ia such that players try to draw the classical game and then try their luck in Armageddon. If first day is any indication, we will have draws in classical matches and artificially created results in Armageddon matches.

These armagadaeons in Norway Chess does not count in ranking nor qualifiying, the "only" incentive is the tournament money, that's why the players have not played the clock, especially Alireza who could have tried to flag Pragg at some point, but it would have been not classy from him
