I still get nervous when I drive behind a truck with tree logs or pipes, and speed up to get away from it. This series traumatized a generation lol

The fact there’s been five movies of this kind of thing gives me the idea Death is kinda petty

I mean, it's technically his job. So, I'd guess being petty is a plus in the collection business.
The worst part is I think it's hinted towards in one of the novels that death is the one that actually gives these people the premonitions.
Meaning death legitimately just gets bored and decides to have a game of cat and mouse for people's lives
@@volfawott7417 idk that part doesn't really make sense, it is hinted that someone surviving their own disaster would have a chance at effecting your life down the road, so I like to see it as a glitch seeing deaths plan be changed and altered

Candice's death was interesting, there were so many ways they showed us that she could die, and then killed her in a way that I doubt any of us expected.

If you were wondering why Nathan died at the end despite getting the coworkers life, it’s because the coworker is revealed to have lump in his brain that could’ve burst and killed him at any day. And since Nathan got his life, he got his years and the coworker was destined to die that day.
And fun fact, the unruly passenger who was kicked off the plane was the mc in the first film who suffered the same thing, like all the mc have in this franchise. This makes the 5th film a surprise prequel

I've always thought that it doesn't matter who you kill, because death comes back to haunt you.
We all saw the movie… thank you for trying to think need need to explain what was literally said in the movie itself.
“Could have died any day.” We all saw the same movie. You’re explaining something literally in the same way the movie literally explained itself just fine.
I think a lot of people consider this one the best out of the series for a good reason. There were multiple scenes that legitimately had me on edge on what was about to happen. Stuff like the falling bridge, screw on board and eye surgery felt so real and horrifying to look at.

Bro I watched F5 and was gonna shower but after I was like "am I gonna burn to death? Will I slip and die? Will I get hanged on the curtain rod?"
I loved how in the last movie, the story as it started in the first movie made a full circle. Very clever and a nice way to end the franchise.
And to those wondering why Nathan was killed, turns out Roy had a tumor and would have only live a couple more days.

I think they left that out DELIBEARTELY - This is supposed to be How To Beat after all... They do want anyone who has not watched the movies to potentially watch them... If they give every story beat, There is no point watching! Pay careful attention to how he describes each death... It is a Very Brief Summery - The Movies have much more going on... It is to encourage people to watch or he may get hit with a Copyright Claim!

Ngl the deaths that happen within a franchise through out the series (Like the Tanning Salon, Massage Outlets, Eye Doctors-) always made me think of death not only claiming victims, but leaving the companies the victim dies in, screwed as well lol.
And that just opens up the extent death could do. What if it just came up with the plan to kill a guy's will to live. Or worse yet, kill all the important people then let the world desolve into chaos. Oh wait... I feel like this has always been happening.
It's a prequel to Final Destination 1, so the characters didn't research the things that are happening to them. This means no events have been recorded about the same incident
Note: I'm not sure whether what happened in Final Destination 5 is the first time it's happened, but I don't believe that, the mortician knew what was happening to the characters.
@@garysongatan8925 It's rather strongly hinted at that Bloodworth is either an avatar of Death or at least someone who 'works for' him... which I suppose is fitting, since he's a coroner. He's literally employed *because* people die.

I think the girlfriend was always going to be on flight 180 as part of her mourning process so her death at the end was always what was going to happen. So funny enough there was no life to steal by anyone killing her, just like mister brain aneurism.
could be that or could be that Since MC die he did not see what happen after his death and she actually die 2 min after he did, So saving her mean she was the next victim.
Also MC might have got the lifeforce of the dectective but who know maybe the detective was 2 week from retirement so he was gonna die from a gunshot before he retire, meaning the lifeforce stolen was not extending much.

The twist at the end was by far my favorite (both) the fact that they die on the same plane the kid got off of in the first one, and the fact that the wheel kills the one guy after finding out roy had a brain tumor and wouldnt last long anyway. Such a good idea and such a brilliant way to wrap up the novies… at the same time i really wish i had more final destination movies, the idea of death killing those that wronged it is such a brilliant concept and ima need more. Time for a couple “the destination is final” series. Lol

Honestly, even if you tried any of these sensible survival ideas, that would just delay the inevitable if anything. In this series, you don't know what could kill you, where you'll die, or even when. You just know Death is coming for you and anything around you can be used to make you meet your end.
Makes you wonder if Death is even a supernatural entity at all in this movie series and if the characters just had really, really, *really* bad luck all along. Imagine such a twist that might aswell exist, lol. And there's also the question of what even counts as a "predestined death" and if skmeone has even cheated Death for a little longer besides the premonitions at all.
@@mekingtiger9095 I like to think it is cause tons of improbable death scenarios happen for seemingly no reason. Almost as if some supernatural force is causing them.
Video doesn't really explain it - but I love the ending. The reveal that - yes, he did kill someone and got his life, but he was only set to live another two days or so is magnificent, then gets crushed by the plane

Fun Fact: There's actually a famous cat in a nursing home who can smell death on a person. Everytime this cat visits a resident's room, they will die a day later. This cat would spend the time on the resident's lap, comforting it like some kind of angel of death. An elderly woman even has the ability to smell cancer on people before any symptoms even show. So yeah, this could very well work in a very rare circumstance.

I noted this on other videos on Final Destination 5 so I'll note it here. The woman Peter looked to be about to push into oncoming traffic actually looks like to be the actress who played Mrs. Lewton from the first Final Destination movie, and since FD5 is a prequel I wouldn't be surprise that was on purpose to make it a close call for Mrs. Lewton's death before flight 180.
My favorite scene was actually the funeral scene because Dennis listed Isaac as among the dead while he was among the mourners causing the others to laugh and crack jokes.
If cinema summary was targeted by death I have a feeling he'd frustrate death so much by avoiding each of his elaborate traps and in the end death would just go fuck it and drop a building on him or something

Wasn't there a rule in one of the previous movies that one can't die if it wasn't one's turn? I remember someone tried to hang himself several times but the rope always snapped.
Yup. And I believe it was that they hung themselves but all they accomplished was being suspended by the neck until help arrived.
Death added that rule in the next patch , this is the pre alpha version.

Gene from Final Destination 2 also tried to shoot himself with Burk’s gun only to have duds 6 times. The character question of Burk even kept his gun loaded which he showed them it was.

I can understand Peter's anger toward Sam that Molly was saved but not Candace, but what Peter didn't know was that Candace was over the cement blockade from the others by her own action and fell before they could get to her. Isaac's death wasn't much avoidable since he was in the bus restroom and in the vision wasn't able to get off the bus in time.
I love how Peter got hit with a pan which made him Peter pan
I feel like Olivia wouldn't have fallen from that window. Skyscraper windows are reinforced to withstand weather and bird strikes. A human falling against a fully intact window from a standing height wouldn't be anywhere near enough force to shatter the window.

What's crazy in the lazer eye machine is that irl they numb your eye before you lay down so she wouldn't have felt ger eye being lazered.
But this is Final Destination, it needs to don't make any sense
The lazer was malfunctioning and way beyond its normal range, she would need to be under Anesthesia or completely unconscious not to feel any pain. I am not a doctor, but I had multiple eye surgeries including Lazir, and Lazik, and you always feel something, it gets more painful too if you are nervous, it feels like a tiny needle poking you in normal circumstances
The Doctor sort of left her alone before finishing his procedure though...
This series traumatized a whole generation, but out of all the deaths, i think the one most ppl are terribly afraid of is the log truck. Me and my friends refuse to drive behind one whenever possible. The log truck is usually the first and most common one mentioned when discussing the series.
Out of all the deaths in the Final Destination series, my dad is most haunted by the water bottle rolling under the brake pedal (the mom and teen in the pileup). This is because almost all of these deaths are ridiculous freak accidents, but the bottle rolling under the brake is actually something that could happen.
I find it interesting that Nathan is the only final destination character who actually discovers the clues to his death
The mortal dread you feel with these victims is absolutely metal. By the time you get to FD 5 (and pretend FD4 didn't happen, even though Carter's death was freaking hilarious) you almost think that maybe they can do it. Maybe they can beat death once again...only for death to get what it wanted at the start, reminding us that cheating it is only a temporary gain, and possibly implies it gets angry when it happens. You almost want some of them to survive in the end....Except for Isaac, that sleazebag deserved it considering he can't control himself around women and reminds me why men get a bad rap...at least he died as a result of his pursuit of pleasure. From a Buddha statue that was laughing no less. So, never let it be said that Death doesn't have a morbid sense of humor.
Then the gut punch revelation at the end.... What an ending. And the deaths after the premonition...pretty brutal. Maybe a reflection of death's anger?
What about the third movie when ghosts drive cars to kill you?

What you discuss around 21:40 about whether or not they gain all of their years or just the time those people have left until they're supposed to die is actually talked about in the movie and the latter is confirmed. During the end Nathan is told that Roy had a cancerous tumor (iirc it was a tumor) and had at most a couple of weeks left to live and then Nathan dies to the falling debris.
I think it was an aneurysm that was about to burst any day.

I just got done watching all the how to beat all the final destinations and now the number 5 just came out I’m sooooo happy
First of all, thank you for this thorough analysis. Second, I love how Death is presented in this series. Rather than being personified or vilified, he's presented as an unstoppable force that will use any means necessary to collect the souls on his "list."
How to avoid dying in these types of scenarios:
Don’t be a side character
The main character has big fat plot armor
Don’t be any character there
Be the camera man
The main character dies also though
If anything, be a side character
Let’s remember that this whole thing started because people thought it was a good idea to do construction on a bridge while cars move on it
What if the "coroner" is death, "helping" the offenders to make it more interesting for him(death),that is see them running around trying to stop him🤔

Clear Rivers locked herself in a mental institution in 2 but wound up dying. Yes, she was convinced to leave by the protagonists... But maybe that was part of deaths design like you said about death row.
I remember I use to watch this as a kid. I was a carefree kid who didn't care much in the world until I watched this, making me realise that death was everywhere, til this day, I'm being so careful and paying attention to every detail in life now 😰
I always understood near death experiences to be a massive release of DMT into the brain. No idea if that's true or not, but this was a commonly accepted, uh, "fact" among my peers (I was born in 1987.) Tbh it makes sense to me, you are about to die so your brain goes "Let's make you trip balls instead." Since you have some amount of awareness of your situation beforehand, you hallucinate the situation as ongoing in a near-death state. Makes sense to me.

I never understood why people didn't like these movies. The deaths are comically over the top, which is what makes the whole thing fun! Still one of my favorite series of movies ever!

The final destination movie series is full of phobias. FD2, in specific, terrifies me, but I can watch the others without an issue.
@skyesfury When I first Saw Final Destination... I loved it! I still do... But I can understand why people don't like them... They do tow that line of "Gore Factory" rather than "Fear Factory"... and are often placed very loosely in the "Torture Porn" Genre... NO! I do not agree that they are anywhere near torture porn, but The Over The Top Kills are why some see it that way...
It did become like SAW... They tried harder and Harder to make the deaths more Graphic as each entry went on... That did weaken the premise! So I can understand why some hate the movies...
Why do I love them? Especially the first 3? They are based VERY LOOSELY ON FACT! It was featured in a Making Of Documentary on one of the DVD's... A Coach Broke down taking a Collage Football team to its Final Seasons game where they expected to lose, Lightening hit the pitch and KILLED the Opposition, They won by Default!
A Pastor failed to make it to church due to arguing with his wife, The Babysitter they had hired had not turned up, One of the Congregation fell asleep and forgot to attend, The organist had food poisoning, and no one was there to open the Church... It was Struck by bad weather and collapsed... Had the Pastor managed to get to the church, over 100 people would have been dead!
There are HUNDREDS of Stories of Miraculous escapes from potential death... Most see it as simply not being their time... And maybe they are right - But the Movies run with the idea, What if they were WRONG?

...Also have the 2 Disc Final Destination 3... There is an entire Documentary on there where I got most of that information about the "miracle escapes from death!" - So I also Cheated!!!

I always believed the reason Mollie, Sam and the FBI agent died was because Mollie was never supposed to die on the bridge. In the original timeline, she would've died some time soon afterwards due to severe depression over loosing Sam. When they changed the timeline, she was still destined to die some time soon after the bridge collapsed since her fate wasn't changed regardless. But now, since Sam was still alive, instead of dying via suicide she was destined to die by Peter. But the FBI agent intervened and Peter killed him instead of Mollie. So even though the FBI agent wasn't included in the original timeline, his intervention is what caused his death. Now since we know from the first movie that if someone intervenes, death skips over to the next person. The next person in line is Peter but since he is on the FBI agent's lifetime, he does not die naturally. Sam kills him but doesn't get the time Peter got from the agent since Sam did not kill the agent. He only gets the time Peter had left, which is why he dies soon afterwards when presumably Peter would've been sentenced to death after killing Mollie (had the agent not intervened). Mollie dies in the plane accident before Sam because Sam intervened in his destined death by killing Peter, thus making death skip over him and the only person left is Mollie.

The eye surgery was the reason why I cried inside a Ophthalmologist's office while saying i'd rather wear glasses/lenses for the rest of my life than undergo surgery as a brat - aaa it really left a mark for a movie lmao.

I remember watching this movie and the gymnast’s death was the most wacky in my opinion like I’ve never seen anything like it and the way it was so realistic was just WOW! Also, if I was gonna do the “kill someone to get their lifespan” thing, I’m killing a baby that is around 0-1month years old so I get a longer time to live since they have a whole life ahead of them. I would’ve just stole a baby from the somebody’s I know’s house and then murdered it. I’d have to make sure this person is gone or I can just kill then both so I get even more time
Since young babies are more likely to die (SIDS, genetic diseases that haven't yet been diagnosed and so on) I'd pick a child of about 1-1,5 years old, of course after looking up its parents to see they're healthy.
@@emmaselander2160 That could be true, but remember, you can't kill people unless they were supposed to die sometime. And I know everyone dies at some point, but that doesn't mean it won't happen again.
I've been waiting for this video ever since you posted the FD4 one a year ago. It was worth the wait.
Additional thoughts: The whole "take someone's remaining lifespan if they die in your place" concept that was introduced in this movie raises some questions about FD2. It works for the flight in FD1, the rollercoaster in FD3 and the racetrack in FD4 because only specific people would have had tickets to be where they were when the disasters took place, and their seats could remain empty when people left following the premonitions. But surely the highway pile-up would have affected other vehicles that would have been out of range/able to stop in time if Kimberly hadn't blocked the on-ramp and all the characters' cars had joined the highway as planned? It's not feasible that there would be an empty space where EVERYONE'S (Kat, Rory, Evan, Nora and Tim, etc) car would have been at the time of the accident. That WAS the kid, Alex, from the first movie--they went back and reshot the scene for this movie's ending. They were on Flight 180.

17:31 i never noticed on the photo that broke, it was taken at the devils flight rollercoaster which crashed in the second film. Those little Easter eggs you catch on a rewatch are always cool.

Horror movies aren't too bad! Some aren't that scary or good, Like The Grudge reboot, childs play 2019 "that one fucking sucked", and the purge. But Lights Out, Childs Play 1-2, Annabelle Creation are definitely worth it.

These movies made me develop severe anxiety when i was a kid, and im not joking, the feeling of anticipation that happens when 2 of the traps fail are insane, just so you get surprised by a total different death scene then what you expected. This is basically what my anxiety felt like, to live waiting for the wrost to happen, and when it didnt happen, i got frustrated with my life... because, as a kid, i already realized that my life was meaningless and stupid and the feeling of fear would never ever go away unless i ended my life my own way... which seems to be the only thing i was could be in control of. I lived a very very sad childhood, i would never try anything dangerous in my life, not even make enemies cause i was always afraid of... "something". I couldnt tell what it was, but it made me afraid. 12 year old and i was already a mess in my mind, and whenever i think about it, i can blame part of it in my addiction to these movies.

Your "crossing the beam with everyone on it" suggestion wouldn't work, true those beams could hold everyone's weight but they weren't 100% stable and could easily shift and cause people to lose their balance, you can visibly see this happen with just one person so adding more people will likely cause the vibrations to be more severe.

The eye doctor scene only really bothers me because I work as an optometrist and I know that's not how LASIK surgery works.
Even if you don't work in the field and just take a moment and think. Why would a laser used for eye surgery be physically able to turn up powerful enough to burn and cut skin? Eyes are way more sensitive than your hands and a laser that was capable of being that powerful would only be a liability. It's the same reason why they tell you not to look into laser pens (And those STILL aren't powerful enough to burn your skin).
In summary, being an optician has ruined this scene for me. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

My interpretation of the ending is that killing someone to get off death’s list just doesn’t work. The fact that Sam and Nathan both still ended up dying in short order makes me think that Candyman didn’t actually know what he’s talking about and was just guessing. That would also explain why he doesn’t give any advice to Alex in the original and why he gives Kim the exact opposite advice (which ends up being correct) in 2.
I’ve seen a theory that Candyman is also avoiding death and using the people in the movies to test out his theories. He’s not in 4 either because he escaped, or Death finally caught him.
what iv gotten from this and the other 4 are its not only intuition but death is also giving you hints on how you will die and its in a specific order like in the 2nd one it showed pictures on how everyone would die that wasnt intuition but a hint and death probably isnt mad when you cheat him hes mad when you help others who didnt notice or ignored it

I watched this movie a couple of times and now I can see the pattern, firstly there's a vision and everybody escaped but there's atleast 1 who died or they all survived, 1 person will be a part of death plan and this convinced the others to believe death is coming, they main character learned the pattern and tried to warn the others, they failed to save a couple and they do manage to save 1-2 people, but on one of the pattern where they save the person another person died so death won't waste time, and there's also 1 jerk that doesn't believe in death's plan and got karma, and at the last moment there's 2-4 people left, they thought they are safe from death until they saw a sign and realised they were put in a position where it was proven there's no escape, the main character may survive but it was guaranteed that in the newer version (3-5) that the main character must be killed.
They basically keep using the same strats for the plot and have 8-10 survivor plus they have randomized way who lived and who died so it's kinda hard to guess who will die and who will live but by seeing the characteristics and the way it was planned out you can guess if they will be saved or not, and also it was guaranteed that the 1st victim will 100% die since the survivors have no clue what is happening

25:54 You are ignoring the fact that despite that Peter cannot kill you, he can still use the gun to easily leave you in no state for fighting, you will not die, but is there is no guarantee that you will not be harmed severely
I want to note that despite the whole taking another life rule introduced, the characters still died in the order of the death list with the rule of intervention causing one to drop to the bottom of the list. Nathan technically did take Roy's death, but at the same time Roy intervene with Nathan's death dropping him to the bottom of the list. Peter did kill the FBI agent but he still died after Dennis. Sam took Peter's life after Peter gain the Agent's life but he still died second to last since Nathan was dropped to the bottom of the list. And Nathan still died after Sam. Yes Molly died on Flight 180 before Sam, but she didn't die in the premonition so her death had no impact on the order of the list.
When you think of it, Nathan might have not really killed Roy. There was no light show confirming Nathan gain Roy's life like what Peter and Sam had. We just assume Nathan killed Roy because Peter pressured him to admit it and the wrench litteraly went around Nathan and hit Dennis. Sure Roy didn't have long to live, but apparently neither did the FBI agent considering Peter died not long after taking his life. I'm not mentioning Peter because we don't know how long Sam had to live after Peter and that Roy's and Peter's combine extention onto Peter's remaining life would of gave him enough time to get on l80
Anyone who seen the Final Destination movies know that although Death has a order in his kills, he doesn't have a precise timing between deaths. I mean after failing to kill Clear Death waited until Alex Carter and Clear went to France to try and kill Alex. Then there's those on the Route list in Final Destination 2 escaping death before thanks to the 180 survivors. He could have got them any time but he waited until he can get all of them on the same route.
Then there's when the first death of each movie happens. 180 survivors had a month and FD3 didn't die off until after graduation.where as in FD2 and TFD Death started off right the way with Kimberly's friends in FD2 and the Mechanic's girlfriend in TFD (she left the race track instead of dying at the stands like in the vision so it still counts).
