- This mower I bought 2 years ago has recently been giving me issues with the belt coming off and now recently it snapped from rubbing.
Upon countless attempts to rig it up to work I finally bought a few parts to throw at it (links below).
My main conclusion is that I must have lost the deck extension spring while I was cutting like a mad man my back yard. Replacing this spring made the tensioner bracket stiff again and retract properly. I also replaced the the shoulder spacer and deck belt guard.
As soon as I engaged the blades I could just feel that everything was working a lot better.

I do need new brake pads and the belt holders look OK and spring is OK also . Shame no quality control at cub cadet so will get off ebay new bearings 6 pack for extras 16 dollars free shipping . Took the seals off the insides of the good ones and checked zerk fittings and how much grease was inside the spindles . I need more grease for my grease gun
That stupid little bar going to the deck brake... man ive been trying to figure out where TH it goes, but being new to these thgings, its been a bear. I see on yours now where it goes, and i can finally get it attached right. i am hoping thats what causing my loose belt. the bar is just hanging there not attached to anything., if thats not causing my loose belt i friggen give up lol!
