A disgrace that both train sets are manufactured oversea. A gross misuse of public funds, when British train manufacturers are crying out for work. Khan and Andy Lord should be ashamed and called to account for the loss of British jobs and technology to Spain and the sad Siemens screwdriver Assembly plant in Goole Yorkshire
The issue is only alstom have a real established factory and testing ground, if all tocs relied on derby to make their trains, they'd be delayed. Another approach would not just to be reliant on derby but for CAF and seimens to get more factories/plants to make their products from instead of relying on the European countries they originally come from. There's a relitively new place they assemble trains in Wales for CAF. But it should be used more often. It doesent take a rocket scientist to send the manufacturing plans over computer for them to be manufactured and tested in the uk. So in that sense I agree. Creating new factories /plants for these various different companies could allow for alot more jobs, and even alot more potential rolling stock offers. Let's say if ABB decided to start making their own EMUs and then testing them . And had their own factory/plant. It could be all used and tested. Another thing they need to build over here is a proper test track. Also personally, as a traim enthusiastm I'd be really bored if we only had one manufacturing company making our trains. Variety is the spice of life after all.😊
well funily enough in my next video coming out soon im talking about the bakerloo line and how the mayor of london is looking to indroduce the ‘bakerloop’ which will run between Elephant & castle Old knet road new cross and lewisham if he wins the elections of the 2nd May he will indroduce it to run along side the superloop and the buses will be wrapped with the bakerloo line colour and the seats will have the same moquette the trains use and they are looking to maybe invest in new trains by 2026/27.
Surprisingly, there are looking at a bus network from the mayor called the ‘Bakerloop’ which will be looked at to run along side the superloop as there is a lack of funding as of now from the government. However, they do say that funding for a Bakerloo line extension or new trains will take place around 2026/27. Infact i have a video coming out on it soon so you can listen to what I have to say about it in a couple of weeks.
Who's producing the new DLR trains? Except for the single bumper, they have a certain familiar look with Sydney Metro trains. Are they derived from the Alstom Metropolis line-up?
To my knowledge from the sources ive read and spoken too they’re being produced by Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) following the previously granted CAF contract for 43 trains in 2019, by TfL hope that answers your question.😁
Actually they are derived from yhe M7 amsterdam metro build by CAF and TSA motors. TSA are also manufacturing the tracrion equipment for the new b23 stock on dlr.
As of now there’s no official date but according to reports and what I’ve heard is that if everything goes smoothly we will see them as soon as March 2024 but can’t fully guarantee that.
They aren't going to replace any 90s stock yet they are alot (newer) than the aging bakerloo line and picadilly line stock. The northern line also has a life extension plan for the 95 stock. As they are relitively still middle aged and modern at the same time. The alstom tube trains (95/96 stocks) aren't really going anywhere for a good long time. So we get to enjoy them more. Also the 92 stock are like gonna be around for another 5 to 10 years As they are all getting refirbished

The Bakerloo Line also needs new tube trains. If Siemens were to build new tube stocks for the Bakerloo Line.

1:26 The 1973 stock looks so good there
3:06 Small correction: They're made in Vienna, Austria. Not Germany.
Ah thanks for that mb.

The new DLR trains remind me of the Paris metro trains
What do you think about more trams in London?
I think it would be great to have more across london tbh they aren’t as talked about as much so it would be nice if we were able to get more!
Nice
Thanks!
im sure the new DLR trains will arive in 2 monthss time
Indeed they will if everything goes well
What day in 2024
They are gonna replace the trains built in 1994 and the mid new trains built in 2007
