How To SUP Foil #1: Paddling straight on a shorter board

- This is the first video in a series of SUP Foiling instructional videos: How to paddle straight on a short board.
To make a short board go straight, the stoke has to be modified. I find short strokes pulling towards the feet and ending by the toes seem to work best. Angling the blade towards the body, starting the stroke far in front and taking short strokes pulling the board straight forward are described in the video. This is also called J stroke or reverse J-stroke.
The next videos in this series will be: #2 catching a wave and lift off, #3 controlling height and speed, #4 pumping the foil, #5 turning the foil

MAHALO for the tips.
ALOHA from Tahiti
Aloha and Maruru! 🙏😎🌴🏄♀️🌊🌏🤙🏼
Nice Video! On waist high waves, is it better to go shorter and wide (7'x30") vs longer and narrow (8'3" x 28) for learning SUP foiling? ...if you already are a surfer and foiling kiteboarder?
A little longer will help to learn and a board designed specifically for foiling will make it much easier. Good luck and be safe 🤙🏼
blueplanetsurf rad, I will seek one out!

What's the secret to paddling the short board and it doesn't capsize? I can't just paddle one side, I have to paddle once each side to keep the board straight.
That’s exactly what this video is about: take short strokes in front and pull towards you to go more straight

Perfect, thanks for the pointer. My stroke is too parallel to the board, I'll try to fix that.
👍
Is gong rise foil good?
I'm not sure, we have not tired it.
what are the specs. on this rig?
This board is 6’0x27.5x114L and I’m about 195 lbs
it's soooo hard to just stand up and balance on these things
Yes, that's why it's good to start with a bigger board and slowly work your way down.
