0:05:21 - It doesn't work on Gates of Dark World because it's a Spell effect activation and not a Spell Card activation. On activation of the card itself, it doesn't do any discarding. You have to apply its face-up Spell effect to do that.
I like how Gemini Imps is a reference to Delinquent Duo. The character design shares lots of similarities, and their effect has something to do with discarding cards.
5:30 The reason Gravekeeper's Watcher doesn't work on The Gates of Darkworld is because its discard effect can be activated after the activation of the Field Spell itself. Watcher can only negate the activation of Spell/Trap CARDS that involve discard effects in their activation clause, whereas this would be the activation of a card EFFECT.
I want to say this again Idea for a video Top 10 cards that only exist in the Yugioh Anime I'm talking about cards like Destiny Dice (only exist in the anime), not cards like Card of Sanctity (Brought to real life, but with different effect)
Another gimmicky use G.B. Hunter has is that it can keep your Majestic Star Dragon or Majestic Red Dragon on the field since it prevents them from returning to your extra deck by their own effects
So I'm a casual player who only plays with a group of friends, and we weren't sure how Engraver of the Mark worked by reading its effect. We misunderstood it as when a card effect is activated and it names one name, like how in the effect of Necrovalley it says "Gravekeeper's" in quotations, you could change the name of the card itself, therefore changing its effect into that card. This led to many first turn quits as you would have your Sanctum of Parshath or something else turned into a Sekka's Light, completely ruining their game.
A counter card that you’d think would be helpful in the meta is Judgment of Anubis, especially with back row destruction being common. But nobody plays Judgment of Anubis because of the discard cost and targeted destruction of a monster not being that helpful. Even in good cases against Twin Twisters, if you can’t target destroy a monster then it’s just a 1 for 1.
If you want back row you're baiting destruction for you're better off with Kaiju capture mission or waking the dragon. Both net you more advantage or can even win you the game off their destruction.
G.B. Hunter is also useful if you want to use a Wild Monster Appears, as it will keep the monster on the field indefinitely if the monster did not go back to your Deck after the next opponents turn. You will need to use something like call of the haunted during your opponents turn and somehow make it survive the turn. That and it could also be useful in a Time Lord deck, as your Time Lords wont have to shuffle themselves into the deck at the end phases.
I'd like to note that Judgment of Anubis saw play during the slower burn formats back when Lava Golem and Ring of Destruction Barrel Behind The Door combos were running around, it was used as a check to the staple backrow hate spells with the exception of the release of Dust Tornado coming in clutch at that time more than ever.

Had to like for Dimension Fortress Weapon. He's easily my favorite niche stun card, namely because I love my Dark Machines and Salvo plays, so I found him and grew a liking to him very quickly
I would also mention Intercept Wave, which is a pretty usefull card against synchros, but only against synchro decks and you must wait the End Phase to actually make it good. However, going first in MR5, this will be a very strong card against synchro decks, as it completely negates their primary gimmick
You know, I have a "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell" in my side deck and when I feel I need to use it... well.. let's just say my opponent surrenders instantly. It's kinda situational but when there's a chance, shuts down an entire deck or completely ruins combos or annoying mass destruction effs.
I hardly feel that's a _specific_ counter card given Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell's activation requirements. Calling it a specific counter is like calling Mind Crush a specific counter. In fact that thing is so unfair, I I think it should be errated to "your opponent cannot activate cards with the same name for 6 turns" even though 6 turns is basically an eternity and few decks can stall that long. but at least it would mean you'd have a very generous window to win before your opponent can try again instead of that window being the whole duel. In fact, now that you reminded me this card exists, I think self destruct button should be unbanned just because of this spell.
I honestly think that thing is too annoying. What it should do is instead prevent activation of spells for 6 turns. In a competitive setting... well that might as well be the whole duel and isn't any different than the real card. In casual settings or when two Rogue decks face off against each other, the receiving end can hope to try to tank all the damage that's incoming until he can use the next copy of the spell. I mean a lot of time in casual settings in YGO Pro when I still used it, a lot of the time one side would break a combo with negates like infinite impermanence, but be unable to follow up with their own combo since they didn't draw well and their deck had low consistency. Thus, one side plunking away at the other's LP at 1500 per turn until either side unbricks.
One time I used retort to get a monster reborn back from my graveyard, but then my opponent chained a retort to add retort from their graveyard back to their hand after it was milled there by Glow-up Bulb.
Showdown of the secret sense scroll technique is also good. It can counter any handtrap and any card which has the same name and is already used at least 1 time.
My favorite deck is Gravekeepers, but I've never used Watcher even once. It's just a really old card that I've never used because it isn't as good as other hand traps.
You know why G.B. Hunter's eff is the way it is? It's because G.B. stands for Gladiator Beast, which makes her the Gladiator Beasts Hunter and completely negate their effects.
A video on card effects you're surprised Konami hasn't added to a card yet. For example, a decade ago I thought of a spell that destroyed a monster on the field but it would be treated as destroyed by battle.
An old favorite I was hoping to see didn't make the cut it seems... Magic Drain, a counter trap that either gets you a negate or forces your opponent to lose a spell card, can really mess up some decks that have key plays around spell cards!
Q: Anyone know why Glad Beasts aren't still Meta? A: It's because their best spell/trap cards have the word "Beast" removed from them, and makes them not searchable by the now 2 searchers, Test Panther and Glad. Beast Equeste. Can someone explain why some cards don't "target"? I know that it doesn't target if the card doesn't say that it targets, but why doesn't it when the effect obviously affect one card you choose. It makes imo some sense that cards like Dark Hole don't target but it would make just as much sense to say that it targets all monsters. With cards like Space Cyclone it seems obvious that you have to choose the affected monster, why wouldn't that be targeting?

@@TheDuelLogs that's more than fine lol. This is really cool that you actually look through your comments tbh. I really just want to say I love your work
question: for Dimension Fortress Weapon you say that is a good target for black salvo, but Black Salvo says that any monster brought by its effect has their effects negated, so I don't undertand why you say that the card is a good target for Salvo
I'm just imagining the nonsense you could potentially pull if you used a card that gave your opponent synchro monsters then used that spell card to bring out your own synchro That level of setup does feel glorious when pulled off
I actually think this is a way to fuck with Mayakashi, when they summon that lv 11 bone boi, slap them with lv 12 synchro. Too bad most lv 12 synchro has restriction where they can only be synchro summoned and that card doesn't ignore summoning condition. Imagine dropping Blazar in response of Mayakashi player dropping their big Skeleton.
I have an idea counter cards. Bear with me I can explain. Zombie pumpking decks had pumpprincess and that had an effect of once destroyed it would go to the spell and trap zone and each standby phase a counter would be put on it and for each counter each of the opponents monsters would lose 100atk. Next there is balloon counters used in wonder balloons. It works by discarding cards and for each card discarded your opponents monsters would lose 300atk. Now this next one is something I call snow counters. It had snow dragon as a main and other side cards to get snow counters out on the field. Next is alien counters in the alien deck. It worked by each counter on a card would decrease the atk of a monster battling an alien by 300 for each alien monster mentioning it in its effect. endimon a type of spell counter deck. There is the field spell, power of gaurdians the breaker the magicial warrior, magical exemplar pitch black stone silent magician and the ace being a lv7 card that removed 6 spell counters from the field spell to special summon. lightsworns had a field spell and continuous spell that had counters. Putting them on when the mill effect of monsters would get activated and removing them to prevent them from getting destroyed. All of these cards i mentioned came from duel links btw
It's not shenenegans. Watcher negates a Spell Card, which is the placement of the card on the field, and the "When this card is activated" effect. But an ignition effect you manually activate( like Exiled Force) is not a spell card but a spell card's effect.
With Syncro Trancend you can fill your extra deck with ultra strong Syncro monsters of all levels with no means to actually summon them. Then IF the chance that your opponent syncro summons while you have trancend in your hand you can just cheeze a free summon.
btw the explanations in this video for the cards really suck. Maybe you should like... use the cards in test duels before you come to your conclusions on your choices?
Completely forgot that GB Hunter can be used with Neos fusions only because I forgot this guy exists. Not very efficient use of resources though. question: for Dimension Fortress Weapon you say that is a good target for black salvo, but Black Salvo says that any monster brought by its effect has their effects negated, so I don't undertand why you say that the card is a good target for Salvo
I'm just imagining the nonsense you could potentially pull if you used a card that gave your opponent synchro monsters then used that spell card to bring out your own synchro
That level of setup does feel glorious when pulled off
I actually think this is a way to fuck with Mayakashi, when they summon that lv 11 bone boi, slap them with lv 12 synchro. Too bad most lv 12 synchro has restriction where they can only be synchro summoned and that card doesn't ignore summoning condition. Imagine dropping Blazar in response of Mayakashi player dropping their big Skeleton.
Retort's definitely getting banned if it can also be used on effect cards like ash blossoms
Judgement of anubis can be devastating
Wouldn't big burn completely gut spyral when they use rescue or big red?
Just putting ideas out there anyhow have a nice day
What about top 10 cards with retrains, ie Magician of Black Chaos -> Dark Magician of Chaos?
Gémini imp did work with the hunter? I thought discard was different than send
It's not shenenegans. Watcher negates a Spell Card, which is the placement of the card on the field, and the "When this card is activated" effect. But an ignition effect you manually activate( like Exiled Force) is not a spell card but a spell card's effect.
Any old Duel Links Players? Do you all remember when Gladiator beasts were meta, and everyone were spamming them? I was giga mad facing them :|
Gladiator was meta but not tier 1. It's cyber angel until Synchro box released
Perhaps you can make a list of the best cards can discard cards from your opponent's hand
That banned Topologic should be number 1
Big Burn can be used against Called by the Grave.
I just realized I used to own Gemini Imps. It got lost a long time ago, so...
Top Ten Cards for your Side Deck
I’m relatively new to competitive yugioh and I’m still trying to figure out how to build a deck for match play
With Syncro Trancend you can fill your extra deck with ultra strong Syncro monsters of all levels with no means to actually summon them. Then IF the chance that your opponent syncro summons while you have trancend in your hand you can just cheeze a free summon.
Oh man, I would TOTALLY play GB Hunter in my Femme Deck.
DAMN. Retort with Monster Reborn.
btw the explanations in this video for the cards really suck. Maybe you should like... use the cards in test duels before you come to your conclusions on your choices?
Do top ten Yugioh tournament players. And what decks they played.
Top 10 cheaters
Delinquent duo homies got your back after messing with the other guys' hand.
Completely forgot that GB Hunter can be used with Neos fusions only because I forgot this guy exists. Not very efficient use of resources though. But anyone looking to somehow keep the Neo fusions that ditches you have a way to keep it. Only problem is, no bringing any other Neos fusions out once it’s on field.
It can actually prevent contact fusion too
It is 2122, and we now have Counter Counter Counter, that counters traps that counter other counter trap cards.
