Wow wow what a beauty a true icon , this one needs to stay in the museum a thing to be cherished for generations and did I forget to mention the sound of the engine man thats poetry in itself, awesome.
There ain't nothing like a sound of a 1978 kz1000A2 amazing sound. Kan you find a new Red bullet absolutely gorgeous! I love the Chrome Polish fenders. Everything about that bike is a badass machine. Awesome info sir. Great video Ronnie absolutely amazing work Kaplan team beautiful Kawasaki 1978 KZ 1000 a2 beast of a bike Kaplan cycles number one
What a beauty!!! When Kawasaki came out with the KZ1000 LTD Kawasaki went with looks over function. The LTD with the fat rear tire and the raked front end with the skinny tire handled horribly in the twisties. It still had that Kawasaki incredible power but the,”chopped” look that so many manufacturers went with back then did a disservice to the bikes. It’s nice to see one of the good handling ones.
In 1978, went to Fremont dragstrip in Calif. Went up against a GS1000 on my '77 diamond sky blue KZ1000 with Kerker 4-1. He got me the 1st pass. I got him the 2nd. Went up against Kawi 750 triples, XS 11's, but not a CBX. I ran a 11.90 at 114. That was fast for almost 50 years ago. All in all, miss the freedom of those days. Ride a '22 Z900 among others now, but I'd still be happy with the big KZ for sure.
That is one gorgeous and badass bike. Love the throaty and muffled exhaust note from the Kirker pipe. These were always my favorite vintage muscle bikes. I love how you made the bike get a little squirrely when you took it on the demo ride. I know she's full of torque with quite a bit of power! ❤❤...ML&R
Turned 16 riding a 77 model of that. But had the green and gold paint. Kerker 4 into two, black pipes and cylinders. Miracle I'm alive 😂 oh and a king and queen seat!
Very cool. Ken was putting that bike to work. You need to make a graphic that occasionally pops up on the screen and says "video shot on a closed course with a professional rider." : )
These KayZee 1000's are deities in this day age of fake plastic BS... It sounds like an almighty thunder god that commands respect from us mere mortals... Legendary... Thanks Ken, you and the good folks at Kaplan never fail to impress and make me smile... Salute you all ..

when i was about 9-10 years old my mom met her 2nd husband . so from 10 to 15 years old . he had a KZ 900. it had a sissy bar back rest for the passenger . i was too small to see over his shoulder but the amount of force that was pushing me into that backrest was intense when he hit her hard in any gear . ive experienced some very built cars and ridden many bikes. but not very many reminded me of the power of that bike he had.
The Chrome polish is absolutely I love the gold chain double D's 😂The red with the gold pinstripe is beautiful Great video Ronnie! Double D's😂 New England motorcycle museum number one
I brought 1978 kawasaki KZ 1000 brand new in 1978 it was black color I'm 68 years old now I wish I would have kept it now I have a Kawasaki Z900RS it reminds of the KZ 1000 a lot
I still have my 1977 Kz 1000 with a D&D exhaust that works well on my Kz I bought it when I was 18. When it gets on the power band it opens up, and what a sweet sound.
Chips..!!!! Yo.. Nicky Kriech WHEELIED THAT THING EVERY WHERE..!!! Sweet example..!! His was black.. I was 7years old And that bike scared the 💩 out of me..!!! Thanks for the memory….. Kaplan #1…
So much heritage of shiny chrome and polished aluminum proving a sportbike dosent need a friggin abs plastic shell like a nubby lil fairing with a 3" windscreen
Nice bike . I remember a buddy who had the 900LTD in the same color . he made it to a highway cutoff that should take about 35 plus minutes one night in 20 minutes. he was flying .
K start on a 1000 I had a 76 with a 1000 engine and people would trip out when I would kick it to start it, I had the same exhaust with no baffle and you could hear it a mile away.
It's been awhile I know... I've had an interesting summer. Anyway here's my labor of love: STAR WARS episode 588: Lord Vader's pissed.. He's a little bit behind his quota of converts to the Dark Side. He then spots young Jordan watching Green Bay lose to the Eagles, and sees that she's noticably upset. He figures this to be a good time to iron out the subtleties of switching sides when Jordan jumps up and says "hoad up" " you had me at hello" where do I sign?? So then sweet , young , cap'n crunch eating Jordan becomes Darth Jordyn. She then trades her family oriented life in Connecticut ( and her Mom Christy's new whip) for a as of yet unseen wheat rocket and a sexy new black riding suite that well conceals the 20 or so pounds she's picked up over there on the Dark side, and with her " Garrison" she now goes tear assing around the Front Range lookin for the shit...
seen a guy the other day trying to get 1200 for a cb650 with 30k didnt even run and the tank was smashed and dented wouldnt budge off the price at all offered him 600 which was a really fair offer on it was going to bobber it but hey keep it lol been listed for a year btw
That was ‘my bike’ in 1980! Yet truth be told- as I was working late at Greyhound I met it’s real owner that night and we chatted through the night as he was waiting for a 7 AM bus to Ohio. Long story short this guy- owner of the bike simply says- Why don ‘t hold my bike until I get back to Cal.! So- there I was- 25 years old - had some experience on my old Honda 450 back in ‘77- so I could at least shift the gears. Well we’ll now as I was living in SF- and soon to start my own International hotel this KZ was my escape to Good & v. Fast times- around the city with young beautiful tan ladies- up North through wine territory- along the coast and up into The Sierra’s- All the way flying through the crossroads heedless of wind over the Oakland Bay bridge or silly Cops clocking me going by-them 100+ without care!
I knew that mother fucker had a Kerker on it, that's what everybody had in my neighborhood growing up as a kid and that has always been one of my dream bikes but I had so many friends that had them and they would tell me to come get it anytime I didn't need to buy one I bought other bikes but the 1976 KZ1000 or 900 has always been my dream after I seen one that my buddy did I have to say this is the perfect bike it can't get much better it's set up the best it's beautiful if I was to do anything I would add a second rotor up front for the break just because it goes fast as fuk I would have that sitting in my front room whoever gets this is getting the perfect bike and if I'm a betting man I'm going to say Jason did the kit on this I could be wrong,,,Just Beautiful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌏💪🏼💪🏼🇺🇲🤟🏻🤟🏻❤️👍🏼🤍🤙🏻🤙🏻💙🙏🏻🙏🏻💚😎👌🏼🗯💥🤝🏼

Bringing back memories. Loved that KZ 1000. I rode my buddies 750 triple 2 stroke back in the day. Pretty crazy bike.

Those bikes sound the best with open Kerker. No doubt.

1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 the bike that got me into motorcycles when my uncle steve came over and gave me a ride on his.
Now that brings back memories of my 76 KZ900, they just looked fast standing still and sure did boogie !, "dump_gas_go_fast" .
That is one gorgeous and badass bike. Love the throaty and muffled exhaust note from the Kirker pipe. These were always my favorite vintage muscle bikes. Very cool. Ken was putting that bike to work. You need to make a graphic that occasionally pops up on the screen and says "video shot on a closed course with a professional rider." : )

Beautiful looking bike, wicked sounding like they should. I grew up with these babies. Kawasaki lets the good times roll!!!!
I had a 78 and it had a Kerker. Sounded exactly like that. It was fast in a straight line but it felt weird in the curvey stuff

Крутой звук выхлопа 👍😀

Wow, the Japanese where good and still is . Looks beautiful.
That poor guy, having to part with That! Reminds me of a Z900 with a 1013 kit many years ago now. Blew my mind first ride as a pillion. Fast

These things were everywhere at one time 😊
Awesome!
I got smoked on my 76 kz900 by a RZ350. Took me a bit to catch up to that little sucker
2 strokes will do that😂
