    Thanks so much for this video. There are a lot of fast paced, non-linear TH-cam tutorials for this kind of stuff, but yours was straightforward, and you explained everything and answered all my questions along the way. I can't wait to get these new speakers going!!!

    Very good intuitive idea! Also maybe an idea to eliminate a lot of noise by road and make the sound better for the speakers would be to buy some sound and heat special closed cell foam for audio to install the door between the panel and the door as I did. My car is so quiet and my music is so clear without loss of frequency. I did all my doors. Super ultra quiet.

    Very helpful. I don’t own a dremel so I instead I bashed all the plastic brackets off with a hammer and flathead screw driver. I drilled holes in the plastic mount and used zip ties instead as I didn’t have the right screws (worked great) and final to mount in the door I screwed a hole in the door just above the existing hole that holds the top metal clip and zip tied the speaker in place.
    If you had trouble keeping the plastics together and limited tools I hope that can help
    Ps I broke off the connecter from the original speaker and used that to connect the new cables instead of buying an adaptor

    Maybe an idea for other DIYers, instead of using screws to mount the speakers to the original bracket, you could drill/punch the same three holes and use smaller zip ties to fasten them.
    I'll be getting an 03 crv soon and will want to do the speakers.
    Other than that, this was an excellent video. I'll be going your route and reusing the original mounts as I haven't found any replacement mounts anywhere else.
    Beautiful! Very well done.

    Thanks for the vid, i broke the bottom clips on the my fronts prying from the bottom. Now i wont make that mistake on the rears. I did end up ordering a pair of 6.5 adapters from Crutchfield. They lined up about as well as the stock hollowed out housing does with my JBL GTO 2 ways. I wasn't able to get any screws to line up with the adapters so i ended up drilling holes on the sides of the adapter and using zip ties at every screw hole on the speaker. Not an air tight seal my any means but short of using epoxy it seems to be the best solution. They are secure at any rate.
    It seems using the stock housings may just be the best option.

    Hint: Remove the door panel by pulling up from the bottom. I started the process from the top right and the plastic cracked. It was old brittle plastic, of course.

      There is a tool that is like a big pair of pliars made specifically for removing panels and clips as not to break the clips or cause any damage. I take my panels off in about 30 secs after removal of retaing screws. The tool is not the single screwdriver type. That is a lot more difficult and can scratch or not fit right and cause other damage to the door panel and door. It is only about $6.00 US with shipping and heavy duty, high quality. This the link. Just look for the best price and get a package deal with other plastic removal tools together. It will cover all you need to do the job easily and professionally at a very low cost for many jobs.
      shopee.ph/EDB*-Car-Door-Card-Panel-Trim-Upholstery-Remover-Clip-Removal-Pliers-Pry-Tool-Set-i.345394535.9309366624 Look on Ebay or wherever you order online. 39 secs is all it took me to remove my panels off no damage.

    As per other viewers, capital job and really very useful. Thank you. A few questions if you are still here! 1. Do you recall the maximum distance from the face of the speaker that a tweeter could protrude before interfering with the door speaker grill, i.e. how much clearance is there? 2. How deep can the speakers be before they interfere with anything inside the door, e.g. window perhaps? 3. Dis you do a front door speaker vid or is the setup exactly to same with the same clearances?

    It is a great video thanks! I agree the OEM speakers are piece of crap and needs to be replaced, however nobody talks about the tweezers on the top of the dashboard. Most speakers have their own crossover and you should use those instead of the OEM (I do not even know if CRVs have crossovers somewhere in the body, but since there are tweezers on top, the signal should be filtered somewhere??), that means you need to rewire everything otherwise you might end up connecting your speaker to a non compatible crossover on the way and the sound will not be as good. I would rather use the factory wiring since then I do not have to dissect the entire cable system, but have no idea how to map and find the OEM crossover to eliminate it.... Anyone has an idea?

    • @Titans2138
      @Titans2138 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some models don't have tweeters. If you do have a tweeter I suggest replacing it along with the wiring and you won't have to worry about a factory crossover but the crossover is probably just a capacitor attached to the tweeter. I don't know, that's my guess.

    • @fuzesizoltan1518
      @fuzesizoltan1518 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Titans2138 Thanks but I figured it out in the meantime, but you are absolutely right. The 2006 Honda CRV speakers have only a capacitor, right next to each tweezer's plug, that is it. I placed the new crossovers under the middle console and used my own wiring to both sides from it to the tweezers. For the large speakers I could use the factory original wires that went from the hifi thorough the doors. It is as simple as that, no rewiring is necessary for the door speakers. The only problem is that I have to replace the OEM speakers in the rear doors as well, because now I can clearly hear how horrible they are!! :))

    • @brentfarnsley2028
      @brentfarnsley2028  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry, i didn't really have time or ability to do it at the time. Reversing is pretty easy, you just make sure you have the door panel fasteners in place around the inside of the door panel. Next reattach the wiring harness to the window switch. Next, slide the door panel window weatherstrip side in first as you line up the door lock plastic rod through the notched hole at the top of the panel. Once the weatherstrip side is slid into place and door lock rod in position, look around the edge of the door panel to ensure the plastic fasteners are lined up with the wholes and then pound them back in with your hands and fists with some light pressure. Then reattach the triangular panel putting the clip in first and then pushing in the center pin fastener. Then reattach the door latch metal rod and clip. Reattach the two screws for the latch and two screws for the main door handle snd that should do it. Sorry again for the lack of detail.
