@@RyanCookCarvin I'm going to send a couple of ur videos to chainsaw carving guy. He does different kinds of stuff. But not really a bears and he had to design change. I think he will learn tons from you. Ur very sweet. He's making a living carving trees just beautiful. Thanks
From your video I was able to go into settings/playback speed then set playback speed to 0.25 to slow down the playback speed. Dude. you should hear yourself at 0.25 playback speed. Thanks again for the helpful tips. Much appreciated.
Ryan thank you for sharing your talent with everyone. I find you taking the time to help Jordy Johnson a wonderful bond an admired kindness that is rare in the world today. All the best.
Thanks Ryan. I come in to watch your videos when I'm feeling blue because they always cheer me up. I'm new to carving. My first little bear took me 2 1/2 days and came out looking like Cornelius from Planet Of The Apes. 2nd one only took one day but it looks more like a German Shephard. A good-looking German Shepherd mind you, but still a German Shephard. When I was done with the head, I cut it off since you can't have a dog's head on a bear body but there's plenty of log left to start again tomorrow. Most fun I've had since the Rona debacle started honestly. You are an inspiration man. From now on I think I'm going to do cartoon bears until I get the hang of this. Then, no matter what kind of animal they end up looking like they might at least give someone a good smile...

@@RyanCookCarvin Classes? How do the classes work, are they online? I would love that if I could make it work out but I have a full time job so traveling for in-person learning would be tough. How do I get the details? And yeah, it's bro, not sis : )
I love this video and all of your videos for that matter. I keep coming back to this one and decided to do a smaller scale version with a block of basswood. It came out pretty good and wish I could send you a pic of it. I still have to carve the bark and put some linseed oil and paint (not sure if basswood is okay to burn). Love your work and you inspire me to carve more. Cheers bro!
I have carved stone, antler and wood on smaller scale. I want to carve on a bigger scale your videos are inspiring. Just need to source materials thanks for sharing your experience.
@@RyanCookCarvin thanks i have been more focused on creating. As a semi retired carpenter finding time while in the trades very difficult. I will be working on a few smaller projects this winter but have big goals in the coming year.
One of your best videos so far! Thanks for the 360 at the end of the video, that helps to gain perspective. Keep carving and thanks for making the videos/tutorials.
Hi Ryan, you’re a wizard wood worker 👊👊 love every video! I have one question for you, do you do anything specific to the wood before or after carving to eliminate cracking or splitting after the carve?
Just about the best bear carving I’ve seen. Ryan ur an amazing talent with a cool personality to go along with it. I’ve been a woodworker for many years just started carving however and love ur content so, thank you!! Subscribed already and I’ll stay tuned! Thanks from California
Morning Ryan, could you do a step by step on carving a bears head.I tried to do the same cuts you did but my bears look bloke. I need some tips on smoothing them out. Have a good weekend Thanks
Dude you are amazing, love the vid, love the bear. I am thinking of doing carvin, and stained glass, and all sorta stuff in a maker studio I am building.
Your fun to watch! I’m a 43 yr old woman in Utah, got a chainsaw for Mother’s Day and I’ve already carved 5 bears! I have a long way to go to get more tools, but seeing the ones you use sure helps. Couple questions: what do you seal your carvings with? Do you recommend any electric chainsaws? I have a battery powered one, not the best. Thanks for sharing your talent! Hope to hear from you soon if possible! Wendy
That is awesome! i like for electric makita .. batteries saws I am sponsored by echo.. but thats not one i would suggest there is two other companies that have great ones .. for oil i use what ever really my latest vid showed one
@@RyanCookCarvin your more than welcome Ryan, your talent should be acknowledged. You've inspired me to take my artistic talent and try my hand at wood carving, thank you and have a great Christmas and an even better new year's.
This is an amazing video man. Thank you so much for sharing your talent like that. It gives the rest of us hope we can do it too!! I live on acreage and I have many old logs. What is the best log? What am I looking for? When is it too old etc. any info would be great thank you Ryan!
I'm just starting out with learning to carve. Thank you for the great video!! What other chainsaw did you use besides the echo ca620? Can you suggest the best beginner tools?
Nice, moving to a farm soon and looking to upgrade from whittling to chainsaw carving. Lots of experience with saws, and carving, but never combined the two. Just watched Saw Dogs season 1, and was cruising TH-cam for beginner tutorials when you popped up. Nice work Ryan, you've come a long way. Pretty inspiring dude.
Hello Ryan, I’m a photographer and artist. I just now started watching your videos because for years I’ve been wanting to learn chainsaw carving and so far you are my favorite to watch. Your stuff is amazing. I want thank you for sharing your skills and helping folks like me learn. I do have one question to start here. For my very first chainsaw that wouldn’t be heavy for me to start from would you suggest the most for a beginner learner? Thank you again. Brenda
Dude! I didn't know you had a TH-cam channel but I just saw you on Jordy's channel. Hauled ass over and subscribed. Made me chuckle when you were explaining a bench construction to him and he said he was lost. Obviously he never saw an episode of Carver Kings! Stoked to get some content from you!
Hey Ryan so I recently took up carving. I wanted to share my first bear which was inspired by your videos. I email the pictures to you hopefully you get them. I appreciate your videos and inspiration. I would love feedback as I am looking to improve as a hobby. Thank you man your videos are honestly the best for someone learning. 1:52
Love this video and have watched it at least 20 times on 1/4 speed. Although you sound funny at that speed, the carving steps are still a little too fast from 6:24 to around 7:30. I am brand new at this and have had one carving turn out pretty good. THIS video and bear are awesome! Is it possible to do this bear for that time periods worth of cutting on multiple stationary cameras at different angles in real time s we can see perspective? I have no one in my area who carves(or is holding a class) so your channel is one of my main go to for information. Even better than the book I bought. No worries if you don't want to, I will be a drooling subscriber regardless. Something like that kind of video would even be worth buying. Thanks from Missouri
How long would this take you do if you weren't filming? Do you ever incorporate bark into a carve or is it important to get rid of it all? Thanks for the lesson.
