There's a few scenarios JonSnow could have done here. Sent those bombard canons to destroy the tower to get to that last woodline. That'd buy an extra 20 minutes. Start producing a lot of monks, to convert red's elephants and keep his skirms out of range to keep them alive. One of the biggest problems was he let the two handed swords keep getting in range of his skirms, with the right micro he can keep his skirms alive and obliterate the champions, while converting the elephants.
Yeah but you just know some guy gonna spoil even cut down version with top comment on mobile it sucks that it always like that and I find out who won before a 2 hour match
I think one idea that could make a very interesting video would be showing two games that ended differently as the meta changed, so like a tournament final from 2015 that one player won because of the balance in HD that the same tactic was used in a pro game in DE but it failed because of XYZ
I mean I could have searched for it, it's not that I'm that lazy, but I didn't see it... not sure how that is called, but suggested videos at the end of... a video. I was expecting it there, nor I could find the link in the description. But I appreciate the effort regardless, just had to explain.
My longest game I've ever played was unranked 4v4 few years ago on Amazon Tunnel map. Before starting I though "Let's play one more game, it's just an hour". We've started at 8 pm and finished 0:30 which means 6.8h game time. We were all beginners and noone even thought about cutting forest on any side. We were just blindly sending units to the middle of a map and look how they die. I don't remember exact stats, but I think each of us had over 10k killed units. This is why I hate Amazon Tunnel :D
Does anyone remember Hera vs Mbl game on Arena? I'm certain that it was longer than this one. I enjoy playing and watching these "meatgrinder" games, it's such a cool quirk of AoE2 that without gold, fortification are nearly impossible to break.
Starting at around 14:25 I see a few moments where JonSlow moving his cannons around where it is possible to snipe down some archery ranges in range while still within the protection of skirms and rattan archers, but he didn't do that. Is there any reason why?
Tx T90 and Hardy for these videos. Theres games where seeing every second of it is important, but I do like these condensed style too as the focus is more on calling out key periods of play with tips on how to play them etc
Imagine a super match that went on for so long that they played through new years so they could say "this single match has been going on since last year"
I feel like giving up wood control is gg (not removing the bombard tower with a BBC or treb)- stoneplease is also in great need of wood for farms- so its not like he could have gone on without wood access either.
Well, it is already 2025 here in Australia, so, Happy New Year to T90, Hardy and all the Team. 😁🌟 Looking forward to another amazing year of AoE 2 with Team T90! ❤ BTW, what an astonishing game this was. 😮 Both Players showed such skill and tenacity! 💪 M 🦘🏏😎
Great video and awesome close match, but as a kind of expert at the subject of long games, I can tell you this is not the longest game of 2024 :'D Spoiler; "You Played *5.65* Hours... To Die Like This"
I read the title and was happy to see that we get to see the longest game of this year! Bummer it's just a summery of it. Come on T90 we want to see the whole thing with commentary.
@SiteM16tv i mean i like them but not like enough to pick one between them. So in that case I pick my fav civi to root for one winner. In this case I like both civis
This is nothing we played like a five hour game on Black Forest three V three in house and it didn’t even end in a victory for either side. Somebody had to go so it was superanti-climactic.
It’s true for pretty much any game. Time is a funny thing when you start measuring it yourself from the hardware… all kinds of reasons, based on that very same hardware. That’s why we normally try to pull time values from a remote server and not add up a number as “seconds” go by, the problem is the event to trigger the update itself takes time, which throws off the counter. It’s why you often see a timer that goes at 1.5 speed, it’s one of those the tinier the precision’s you’re trying to get the more difficulty you run into. Old games especially, my favorite was command and conquer 1, the original game if put into modern hardware has no delay programmed into it because clock speeds at the time of development were so slow it was never a concern. The result is today your computer will finish an entire game in less than a second.
@@dervakommtvonhinten517 Isn't singleplayer also defaulted to "normal" aka one of those times (I think 1.5x)? It's been more than a decade since I played but I don't remember it ever being on slow aka 1.0x unless you set it yourself.
just wanna say I'm loving the vids that are game/series breakdowns and the ones with accelerated dark ages. Love watching full games/series but stuff like this where the time to cast/watch full (relatively less important) series and games that are still interesting is AMAZING. Plz keep doing content like this and your other accelerated game/series vids.
I played a 6 hour game on Black Forest this year actually. But mostly it was me being dead for 4 hours and my opponent just making a huge base full with wonders before finally killing me
I liked how you made a long game into a 30 minute video. I would love it if you could do this more. Maybe pick outstanding 1-2 hour games and condense them into more digestible 15-20 minute highlight commentary video
imagine if the longest game of 2024 would be the entire year. if they started one year ago, all resources depleted and they just left their pcs running to farm up the gold with the few reliquarys they got and met each day to duke it out
Was actually at the limit with resources all game while he casually queues 15 skirms per range
GG!
You're both incredibly stubborn 11
gasp it's the man himself
24:31 A commenter said "The game isn't nearly interesting enough for T90 to cast" 😂😂😂
Oh hey 😅
24:53 arent you gonna talk about the foresight red had to perserve a forest in the back of his base? he could have kept going for a while longer
Yes ✓

All that and Jon only got like 13$ in donations to Wallhalla during the game. T90 needs to drop 20$ into the coffer next time he's over there lol.
SPOILER BLOCKER
This whole video is just a spoiler. We want full game!

Doing god's work, thank you

Never forget the 6 million skirms
deny nothing
all those 109 civs kicked out all the skirms
More like 600,000
You correctly summarized it at 13:15 "Both players are just stuck in this hell"

Petition for a cast of the whole game, on Extra if need be.
no. HE MUST DO IT LIVE xD
with mbl!
Jon Slow is very fun to watch

It's Absolutely crazy that the difference in gold collected is 131 after such a long game. JonSlow collected 0.2% more gold than StonePlease.
"video uploaded 56 seconds ago" yes please
Where’s that one guy who routinely has 8 hour 1v1 games…
I just appriciate for T90 casting it all the way, and thanks to Hardy for the edit work
Where is full game video?

This is basically re-enactment of World War I in AOE 2.

Can't be the longest game, I don't see poop lord
This game is literally 18 minutes longer then my longest game this year😂
This match up always leads to long matches. This same matchup is my longest game with just over 3 hours.
I love the arena clown posse
This is the first video I watched in 2025. lol ... Happy New Year!

Having played some grindy arena games myself, Id say the goal is to mentally drain your opponent rather than defeating him in the game
Should have done the full thing 💪 but I thank you for bringing this nonetheless
T90 has an eye on you @ 0:14 :D
Happy New Year losers! 2025 Stone Please! Let's give it the Jon Slow stare down.
t90 looks exactly like i imagined him
I see so many people resign games because there behind or losing in that moment. With Elo on the line, you better be prepared to DEFEAT me
what's next? A BF game turning into wood game
5:56 I've never understood the concept of irony
JonSlow was kinda slow in this game, lol
not even 5 hours...this is a short NOM.
Divium Furor just had a 6 hour blackforest game maby already longest game for 2025
This game took so long its now 2025
CHONKY BOIS gotta love those Vietnamese eles

Hera had a similar game, same matchup.
I have a severe problem here. When I don't like both players and I like both civis equally which side should I root for while watching the game??
Why you don't like these players? John Slow is a legend of the game
@SiteM16tv i mean i like them but not like enough to pick one between them. So in that case I pick my fav civi to root for one winner. In this case I like both civis
And this is why we need Red Phosphoru or Hoang in the game, so we get less of such abominations.
does one of them get siege onager? and wouldn't it make super sneak sense to just erase the opponent's forests?
Yes!
This is nothing we played like a five hour game on Black Forest three V three in house and it didn’t even end in a victory for either side. Somebody had to go so it was superanti-climactic.
"Interesting enough for t90 to cast lol just skirms for 3 hours."

Game name?
It is strange to me that people can play competitive AoE2 with mods on
I had a 3 1/2 game that I lost and I rage quite AOE2 for 10 days.
Jon slow is israeli!? Why was i so certain he was german or austrian or from one of the balkan counties

How long it took in real time?
0:15 welp, that's scary
Battle of Somme, AoEized.
this is why you don't play arena
we need a full game with your commentary
we need to see you suffer :D
8 hour slogg incoming!!!
25:33 massive?
But its not even 30m....
27 min? Hmmm nah, I've seen longer. ;p
he could've BBC down that bombard tower, its not like Vietnamese had no options against that
Losing late game as Vietnamese is sad :(
I feel it's rude to GG after 4 hours (really after 1 hour). You should ask your opponent if they want the pleasure of 'ending you rightly' or not.
the aoe timer goes faster than real timethough for whatever reason
