I REFUSED TO BELIEVE Kamina died here. I thought He was the one we saw on the opening at Episode 1. I KEPT WAITING FOR HIS RETURN.. until season 1 Finished, then it Hit me.

And then years later when I did go to watch the show for the first time, I got spoiled by a YT title that was heavily implying Kamina came back. Then it hit me, memory of the final battle, I swear I saw Kamina. Waited and waited, then realised that Kamina wasn't coming back and that it was actually Simon who I saw.
I never actually believed that he died until the end of the show. I mean, at some point I accepted, but I always thought in the back of my head that he was returning eventually in the most Kamina way possible. Turns out the most Kamina way possible is to never return and actually have a GOATed death.
Man that guy in the white shirt center right. why is he getting annoyed when Simon is upset especially when his damn brother/best friend died. It's like he expects him to be an emotionless prefect pilot.
gotta love how they didn t understand all the power is basically coming from simon when they combine. Ngl Kamina death was surely sad, but i d take it all the time to get the simon we have after that.
Honestly as first time watcher it's not that clear, seems like Kamina is just trying to be nice with Simon. But on a second watch, it's obvious that Kamina has no power, he's the hype man, Simon is the one with potential, and Kamina kept saying that to everyone with no shame.

The show would probably stale in the long run if Kamina lived. Kamina's personality is just too strong that he overshadows everyone on the show. If he was the MC it wouldn't be that much of a problem but we were presented a protagonist in Simon, it's supposed to be his journey that we follow. Like the above poster said, his death was necessary so everyone can grow and shine on their own.

I hadn't realized how much I liked kamina's character up until this episode. No amount of spiral energy could replace the energy kamina brought to this show, it always felt like something was missing all the way to the end. I definitely understood why so many people said they stopped watching after this episode and picked it up months later...
As sad as this is, and it REALLY is, can we talk about how badass Kamina is? The Gunmen display for him went full black, which means he died the first time around. The man is such a caring badass, he had to come back to life just to give his bro one last push.

@@JoelIsaiahKoh that's because it's an older anime, most of the community now is younger and only care about things that are more in now like attack on titan and Tokyo ghoul. I only know of a couple older anime still popular among them like cowboy bebop, death note, clannad (I won't say fmab cause it's not that old).But yeah not too many girls like or know of it considering it's such a masculine show.
