  • Howdy fellas, today we're looking at the origins of one of the most successful Lego themes of all time! Growing up on the prequels I've always been a huge fan of star wars but i can see why people would begin to get fed up of constant re-releases.
    A special video is planned for this Sunday so i hope to see you all there! Take care fellas.

    I love how he puts his personal minifig amongst all the sets.
    It is actually incredibly charming and funny.

    I always liked that older LEGO sets encouraged alt builds and often CAME with instructions in the box to make them, and they weren't even Creator 3 in 1 sets! Maybe make some of the alt builds, that might be a fun video?

    • @Gameprojordan
      @Gameprojordan ปีที่แล้ว

      Sets were much smaller piece count so it was easier and quicker to come up with a couple side builds. That's why side builds are now only relegated to their own specific lines like creator 3 in 1 and a few other non creator 3 in 1 examples. You need to actually put almost as much time and effort into creating side builds as you would do when creating a standalone set nowadays

    lol i think the water tower is a moisture farm vaporator. I like this video, you showed many sets in detail that I otherwise only knew them from the old catalogs as a kid. You have a great collection. I had a bunch of the small ones, my favorite might have been the one with the speeder bikes cause I was very excited to finally get imperial trooper minifigs as a kid, and because the speeder bikes scene in the forest was the first star wars movie scene I ever saw in my life (when I went with my parents to some electronics store as a kid and the TVs were playing it).
    As for that weird vehicle/droid thing with wheels that comes with the N-1 set, I always wondered what it was as well, but I think there's a chance it's based on an extremely obscure droid that only ever appeared in the Episode 1 videogame (the one that was simply called Star Wars: The Phantom Menace), inside some maintenance shafts of one of those huge round Trade Federation ships, in the first level.
    Oh and good to see someone else who knows the dark side truth about Jar Jar!

    I have about half of these in a box somewhere. I was born in 1999 so I'm guessing my dad bought them shortly after I was born or when I was like 3-4 he got them second hand because my mom worked at a used toy store. Probably the latter. Personally I loved them all for what they were. Especially the blue spy Darth Maul vehicle and Luke's land speeder.

    I prefer the classic yellow Star Wars minifigures. I like their simpler face prints, which are generic enough to use outside of Star Wars contexts. I get _why_ they replaced these and the first wave Harry Potter minifigures with various human-like flesh tones and more detailed prints, but I just think the yellow and simpler faces look better.
    I had that Naboo swamp set, but lost the clam (or maybe it was missing?). Had the X-Wing and Snow Speeder too.

    • @reddeadspartan
      @reddeadspartan ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me it's the simple faces + flesh tone, though it could be because I played too much Lego Star Wars when I was younger.
      I've never mind the flesh tones for tie-ins but I'm not a fan of the more detailed faces, a simple black dot for eyes is all I need.

    Absolutely phenomenal Content as always. Probably over a year ago I had some aspirations to do videos in a similar vein as this, video essay type stuff using stop motion throughout for gags, jokes, and references....but that all came to a screeching halt after a couple things. I immediately learned I had no patience for stop motion, let alone the time for it. Not to mention being overly discouraged by creators like RR Slugger that from my perspective seem to have unlimited time to make smooth ass stop motion for literally anything, while I had a supreme helping of life happenings to deal with that made the concept of attempting something similar even more daunting and myself more salty about a creator that beat me to it, with seemingly unlimited time at their side. So here I am at least 8 months after that, and I am 100% your doing a far better job than I ever would making these videos, a while after the concept of sig-fig centralized scence changes and simpler suito stop motion crossed my mind. So keep up the incredible work, we need more people in the hobby pulling attention to things outside the realm of BLUE CLONE BLUE CLONE BLUE BLUE CLONE INVEST THIS WORTH A MILLION BAJILLION DOLLARS and more attention towards historical sets and themes that can still be enjoyed to this day. Even if 7683 doesn't include 4 332nd troopers.

      Originally i wanted my videos to be done in legit stop motion but i also quickly realized it took me 40mins to create 10 seconds of video and it wasn't even very smooth and seeing as i work full time i probably wouldn't be able to upload more than once every month or two. You should give it a go though! i have to admit i spend about 90% of my free time making these but its super rewarding when you finally upload after slogging away everyday and receive lovely comments, your content will always be different if you inject your own personality into it even if it is the same "style" 💖
