Nice video about what I think is one of the strongest aspects of the Mythras system.

I really like it too, although I haven't decided what I think about the characteristic improves yet

What about giving the characters experience rolls modified by the stat tied to the skill they wish to improve? It doesn't make much sense to me for it to be charisma to learn how to be better at pushing down doors but if you were inherently strong and put that experience roll towards a str stat maybe it turns into 2 rolls?

I think there are lots of ways to implement the rules and that is the great thing about Mythras - as Loz (one of the creators) always says - make Mythras your own, that is the Mythras which matters :)

I understand the game balance reason behind using CHA to modify experience rolls, but is there a reason for it besides that? Why would more charismatic characters advance faster in skills?

Thanks for the comment - you can find the explanation on page 9 - The Reasons Why…
      - CHA: charismatic characters possess a greater force of personality and the
ability to encourage co-operation from friends, comrades, and peers
That seems like a good a reason as any :) but always make the rules your own, so if you don't want to impact on the game then just don't use it. Hope this helps

@@All-shall-say-Jesus-is-Lord He missed two very important parts. First, also on page 9, "If CHA is high people are willing to put themselves out to help train or support the character whilst they undergo tuition. Conversely, if CHA is particularly low, there may be some difficulty improving one's capabilities without the assistance of others; finding someone to spar against for example." But very importantly on page 72 "This modifier [ie the CHA modifier] should only be permitted in situations where the character can put their influence to good use or suffer its consequences, such as returning home at the conclusion of a scenario. *Thus it is not intended that the bonus be applied at the end of each and every session*, especially when the characters are isolated or exploring off in the wilderness."

You said the skill went up to 66 from 63, but then ended the discussion saying it amounted to 67. How come?

If the roll is not made then the skill just goes up by one point - 66 to 67 :) - hope this helps
