Lap cheong - the trusted dinner fall back of mothers everywhere. We always had some in the fridge. And I have memories of my mom calling home telling me to throw a couple of sausages in the rice cooker with the rice when she was too tired to cook. Lap cheong flavored rice is to die for.

Absolutely! Lap cheong with some cooked vegetables (like gai lan or choi sum) are a meal I had a lot. Even at dim sum, one of my favourites is the clay pot rice with various sausages.

Yes! Lap Cheong Rice is easy to cook (throw it all in the rice cooker) and tasty, especially with salted egg yolk 鹹蛋黃. This is one of my lazy-dinner meals.

My favorite is Kam Yen Jan pork sausage and I use it when making steam bun. Pork filling: ground pork, ginger, garlic, white pepper, salt, nappa cabbage, scallions, a bit of soy sauce, fish sauce. Then top with sliced hard boiled egg and pieces of Chinese sausage and close the bun, steam, and enjoy!!!

I really wish this grocery series were in long form videos as well. I feel there's so much more that can be explained in detail and I'm just left wanting.

I’ve been incorporating more Chinese dishes into my meals and this channel has been great help. Question: Is there any chance you guys can make a video on clay pot rice 🥺 been wanting to make it but I find a lot of other videos aren’t as clear and explanatory as the vids you and daddy Lau make. Thank you guys so much for this content 😊

until that video comes out i suggest u try cooking it. cooking without things being 100% clear cut can help with ur cooking intuition, especially with a different style of cuisine. but without a clear recipe, it may be hard to find the right taste. if a restaurant nearby serves good clay pot rice, obviously u should try it :)

I just bought some Chinese sausage the other day for the first time. I'd love to see some recipes using it. I made a stir fry recipe I found using it, and the rest of it I just had with plain rice. It was so good it didn't need anything else. But I would love to have some other suggestions to make when I buy it again.

When I lived in Vancouver in the 1990's, the big thing among the Asian community was Taiwanese sausage which was a fresh version of lap cheong that you would find hanging in Cantonese
bbq places next to the duck and char siu.

I love lap cheong but I only buy one specific kind. Not so sure what the name is but i know it when i see it lol. I’d mix it in with my fried rice, fried noodles or bihun and so on. My favourite would be just having it as is; putting it in the rice cooker with the rice and voilà. 😍

Nothing can’t beat with Vigan longganisa the juiciness of the pork
and the garlicky flavour of it you can’t resist it
Or why not chorizo de Cebu it’s like longganisa but I don’t know to the south why they used to call their longganisa as chorizo
And yeah Philippines is the first Asian who have sausage in their table
Now Thanks Spanish empire and also Portuguese one (Magellan)

I remember we only got one kind with the white label! Growing up in Las Vegas we only got it SoCal Santa Ana ( #vietgang) we would literally get a box of it when we visted!
as a treat my grandma would put the entire sausage on a disposable chopstick an grill it over the stove top,man so good!

I agree with tony, I wish you wouldn’t do the “short” episodes, I don’t know about others, but I feel like it is so incomplete with giving us more information we would like to know. Does anyone else feel the same? I feel like it’s always cut short and leaving us hanging. Please extend it to give us the complete information instead of these teasers.

Same. As kid, my dad would always put it in the bokchoi stirfy and hide a slice of sausage before giving it to me. 😭 I am an adult now but still hella afraid for the taste, it's very strong!
