It's interesting seeing the prototype attempts to make the game more multiple-choice to choose different routes or story arcs (the room where you could go three ways, the three potions you could drink, etc). I'm sure that was leading to much more difficult and expensive production, so basically they nixed that and went with just randomly chosen scenes in no particular order. Then in Space Ace it was pretty much a continuous story, with a few places to choose a slightly different path, but still not like entirely different routes and sequences of scenes to get through the game.
I recall when it was launched it caused a lot of frustration on my local arcade The management had to put a notice on the console saying it wasn't broken (!) 😉
Now, the laserdisc itself just can't be played alone on the player? You need the actual arcade cabinet with the components and the buttons along with the roms, right?
