The adhesive wasn't working because it's actually a contact cement. You're supposed to spray both surfaces, then let it tack. Only then do you apply the two surfaces together. If you stick them together when still wet, it won't work very well.
Hi, Nice video I think I will do a mix of this and your previous version: Sliding top but two drawers. Sorry to say but at 2:13 that is not going to work 3M 77 you have to spray both the surfaces so the underside of the carpet and the top of the topper THEN you let that sit for like 5 minutes and put the two together. The way you did it it is going to come apart.
Thanks for making this, I just coined your first one, wish I saw this video first. Anyway, next time you do this use “3M Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive” . It’s just like “3M 77” but even stronger! Drys and hold carpet super quick! I did all my carpet in 10mins and with no clamps or wait time!
What an awesome built! I watched all three episodes. Part 1. Yeh, I'm handy man enough to do this! Part 2. Hmmm.... Part 3. Yeh....I'm NOT handy man enough to do this. 😂😂
how do you like the single drawer over your first build with the double drawer? drawing up plans to build one for my 3rd gen 4runner and can't decide between 1 big drawer or 2 smaller ones.
It’s much more roomy but things can get a bit unorganized without dividers. I plan to add little boxes or trays inside to help with that vs making dividers since I like the huge area for tables and such. I do miss sliding only one drawer out for cook station but pulling the whole drawer out isn’t too bad either if I have something to set the cooker on. I seem to use the drawer more than the top platform to cook on since it’s easier to pull out (less stuff to shuffle around)
Finally! All 3 parts! Haha! Looks great man! I'm still in the middle of my build. It's so frustrating at times. You gotta have a lot of patience for this project! Thanks for putting this step by step together man! Been enjoying your channel. Keep it up!
Sucks because my 4runner with the back seat folded down from tip to tip is only 5' 4. I suppose it's only made for small Asians like me lol. I'm friend's 4runner which is slightly older (1997) measures close to approx. 6ft. I have a 2000 limited.
@@PhoRunner Yeah Toyota shorten the rear -to-mid section quite a bit (on the inside) to compensate for the front fat lip bumper. I'm 5'2 and it barely fit me lolz. I never knew until I measured it side-by-side with an older model. Plus, it doesn't fold fully flat either. Overall, same length as your model if you measure from the outside. Now, the 2003-2009 (Gen4) models and up (Gen5) are back to normal length again. close to what you stated.
@@genxiong2695 I have a 2000 SR5 (my 3rd one) and that's incorrect. I am 6'3 and fit in mine with the seat taken out. Fits someone 5'10 no problem (all 3 of mine have). They did not alter the body or frame design to account for the bumper - no engineer would sacrifice cargo for bumper protrusion and insist on a set vehicle length in doing so. Not sure what's wrong with your rig lol.
@@mmmansuy Like I said, I'm 5'2 and with the backseat folded (I also took out the seats too make no difference) my feet is almost reaching the rear. I think 5'4 is the max it will fit laying flat. I have a limited version 2000 with the fat-ass front nose. My buddy have a 98 4runner and we did a side-by-side comparison. Toyota did alter the interior mid section big time. The 98 model rear seat section sits a lot up to the driver and pass front. My year model sits back more. I think the idea was to increase leg room at the rear which I couldn't feel the difference. One other big difference is how the seat fold. My year will not fold flat like the 98 model. It folds leaving a 15-20 degrees angle. Not the most comfortable if you are trying to lay flat. Next time go inside a limited model and you'll see what I mean. I guarantee you will not fit in my 4runner laying flat at 6'3 with seat folded or taken out. If only I can upload pics bro.
@@genxiong2695 You seem to be missing my points. Nothing you said changes the fact that a 5'10" person has been able to fit comfortably in the three 2000 4Runners that I've owned. That was my point. So your original comment that 5'4" from tip to tip in a 2000 is not accurate across the board. Since both Phorunner & I disagree with you, seems like your rig is the odd one. Never said I would fit in your 4Runner... I said I've fit in all 3 of mine... My other point was that, while they may have modified interior from 98, they would never have done so to account for a protruding bumper... the reasons you list above are more logical, but are not the reasons you gave in the comment I replied to.
Nice Job!...Great creativity
Thanks
amazing work man, ive watched the build several times now and get more intimidated each time!
Just take your time! Not too hard
Dope!
thanks yellow ranger

True… I found a new product by gorilla that seems to work more like how I’m applying haha. Dummy proof spray and stick and so far so good!

It never came apart but yes, this 3m 77 stuff isn't great. I use the Gorilla adhesive now and it works much better.

What carpet did you use?
Great video

This sleeping platform is gonna be great for your road trip up to Canada to help me work on my 3rd gen ;)

no problem. enjoy
What would you say is the price range budget for this
@@bryantpillot6474 if I remember correctly, the slides themselves were $100 or so. Total, I spent $200-$250.
Where did you buy the locking rails for the top slide and drawer slide?
Check my video description. There is a link to them on amazon

Muito bom projeto estou aqui no Brasil acompanhando tenho um carro igual ao seu e estou começando a equipá-lo veja no Canal Roberto Riva
Thanks for uploading this! Approximately, how much would you say it weighs? Also, what paint did you use on your rear bumper and flares?
100-150lbs haha i don't know. I can barely pick it up lol
This is the paint I used for the rear bumper. amzn.to/2ShDKUL
For the fender liners, just black paint. Dust kinda gets in them.
