It’s basically what we used to call “preppie” in the 90’s. One article mentioned it was old Hollywood elegance. Can you do a video for these looks but in affordable options?

"And if you don't know, then you don't know and who cares." 🤣Fantastic! The women in the photos were wearing multi-thousand dollar outfits and many of them also wore multi-thousand dollar faces. They're very wealthy people. It's so important to live within our means. That's why your video is helpful and important. The message against mass consumerism is a good one. People do buy throw-aways and it's shameful. The cheaper clothing is the more suffering went into producing it. Also, the landfills are piled with toxic material. Buy fewer but better quality items to mix and match AND take care of them! No one needs 5 shirts, 5 dresses, 5 skirts, 5 pair of pants, 5 pair of jeans, 5 handbags all at the same time.

I think I've always dressed in my range of quite luxury. I thank my Mom for instilling classic basics that fit me well. I'm the last year of the baby boomer group. There wasn't online shopping thru my 20's. When Mom said we were going to the mall we dressed nicely dress pants and a nice blouse or sweater. Thanks Mom❤. She always said you need good basics and then add a few trendy items. I like to look classy. I hope the younger generation run with this trend. I'm so tired of seeing people in pj's at the store.

It’s so crazy because I have always dressed in a boho way but for the past two years I have been drawn to neutral colors and very classic looks and better fabrics. Which is so opposite! Could it be because I’ve been working at and Dressing mannequins for the past two years at Ann Taylor?
I refuse to let go of my boho vibe but I love this way of dressing so I guess I’ll just go back and forth depending on my mood that day.

I’ve had to replace my whole wardrobe because of weight loss, and I have definitely been going the fewer, higher quality pieces route (think capsule wardrobe, full of quality basics).
I’ve never been one for brand name things, (not just clothing) and I’ve almost completely eliminated poor quality clothing, because it just doesn’t last, and goes out of shape almost instantly.
    Reduce, repair, recycle. ♥️

This is a trend I can go with! Never did like logos, but do like good quality. When I was first introduced to Loro Piana, I was horrified at the prices. But then I discovered its quality. Much is beyond my means, but I did save up for one or two pieces. And I do hi-lo. Today, Loro Piana pure linen tailored shorts in pink coral, with a Zara cotton tank top in navy tucked in. With an old pink coral necklace. Flat sandals with 3 straps, one in dark blue.

Oh my goodness, I'm sooooo glad I never got into the loud lux logo trend! It's so tacky, but quiet lux for the sake of being in the secret society is just as tacky to me. The If You Know, You Know thing is still trying too hard. Because someone will know & if you're doing it for them, It's silly. I get buying quality pieces for the RIGHT reasons- not a flex for society. Regular people will never be in that echelon of folks who KNOW..so who cares?

Anna, I really love the direction your videos are going in lately. They are so informative as well as helpful! I really love the simple classic look so this trend is right up my alley. I will still carry a LV monogram bag(never getting rid of some of my classic pieces that I’ve had for years even if it has the logo on it)though and will wear my designer belts..,but going into the future I see myself opting for more minimalistic styles when I purchase something designer. I’ve always loved a classic cashmere sweater…in fact my winter uniform is probably a neutral cashmere turtleneck, a great pair of jeans, heeled bootie, and camel or black wool/cashmere coat. You just can’t go wrong with that look. Love love your videos! Now I have a few lily silk sweaters on my wishlist! My husband thanks you!😂❤️

The name Quiet Luxury (or Old Money) is new, but the idea is an old one that many of us have always embraced: top-quality natural fibers, neutral to basic (reds, blues, greens, pastels) colors, and classic, quiet styles. I need to pay a lot more attention to fit, especially since I lost weight. I keep buying everything way too big, but it’s complicated by US vanity sizing, Chinese-brand sizing and UK/EU sizing differences also. I shop non-US brands more and more nowadays. Unfortunately, when I began putting on weight in perimenopause, I thought: “bigger is better”. I didn’t know where the weight gain would stop and I was only eating a starvation 800 Kcal/day, for 20 years, just to stay the size I was. I also have a fear of garments being too tight on my fuller bust. The result is a closet of beautiful, high-quality clothes that I love, but so big that they can make me look clueless. I suppose I was! I’m trying to reform, but part of this wardrobe approach is keeping some size flexibility in case of weight changes. I buy, keep and wear, my wardrobe items forever, if I have chosen well. Yes, I measure frequently and always check the size chart, but things are still coming too big. I won’t shop a website that doesn’t have a size chart, there is just too much sizing variation these days to guess.

I’ve been a fan of Matthew Macfadyen (Tom, Mr. Darcy), since I first saw him in the BBC’s TV series adaptation of Trollope’s The Way We Live Now (2001). I think he’s a wonderful actor, I’m American, but think the British are better actors than ours. Perhaps because they’ve been at it since the Middle Ages, where is began, long pre-Shakespeare, in the local Mystery Plays. Of course, in Shakespeare’s time, it really began to outshine all others and just gets better and better. He’s also what my beloved, late Mom and I called a Fine Actor, and we weren’t talking about his talent! His height are handsomeness are undeniably sexy.

    Ms Anna,
Easy to love ¨Quiet luxury ¨ yet not being able to achieve it; with your video(s), it becomes clearer and more refined (in my mind at least, lol! ;) You are a pearl for all of us, Ms Anna; how am I going to thank you enough!
You look absolutely lovely in the outfits you showed (and in the blouse you have in this video!!)
Gold Medal for you Ms Anna!!! :)

I’d really like to know what your opinion is on fall fashion specifically in Dallas, TX. I’m attending a 30 yr college reunion at SMU with my husband. I’ve never been to Dallas. He always comes home (Charlotte, NC) after visiting friends and talks about what the women are wearing.
I bought a Trina Turk dress for the reunion dinner. We have a wonderful consignment shop near us. I’ll post a pic of the dress. I think it’s the way to go bc it’s not loud. It has blue and white stripes but the blue is similar to a blue light jean color. What shoes go w it and what arm coverage would work with it? It’s a halter dress. The neck area is a gold chain.

I didn't know it had a name, I've been wearing "quiet luxury" for long time, but I just called it quality lol you can find a lot of that kind of stuff at thrify stores, most clothing made prep Y2K was made so much better than it is today, alot of my more expensive pieces I got on sale or second hand, they will last me forever and I won't have to buy new things every season

This timeless "trend" is not difficult to do. Buy good quality, simple styles. No flip flops or legging styles in public unless one is headed to the beach or gym. Cashmere, linen, wool, khaki, non distressed denim, silk and cotton all excellent choices. Everything MUST fit well.

As much as it love the term 'stealth wealth', all of this - quiet luxury, elevated basics, stealth wealth - just Stop. Making. It. A. Trend. It started as people wanting fewer clothes that would last at least few years and not look outdated to save money, yet somehow it got us to $500 caps??? RIDICULOUS.

Hi I love wool, cashmere cotton etc, but how do you stop them pilling? I have a large bust and they pill, around, bra area and seams to different degrees, it annoys me, as I love and live in them. My white tshirts do it too, here in Australia it’s really challenging to find a genuine leather belts too, I have an awesome black belt, bit wanting a brown one, thanks mj

(except Hermes) Hermes invented quiet luxury lol

    • @ANNAREID29
      @ANNAREID29  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Linen definitely wrinkles… some people don’t like that and others (like me) love it. I think you’d need to decide if wrinkles almost all the time would bother you or not. It doesn’t look bad, it just looks like linen but some people don’t like that 😄❤️

Is that correct, one discount code with the number before your name and one with it after: REID12 and 15REID? I only ask because I’m very familiar with this, my favorite clothing brand and their discounts, I use them a lot. I love it, I just wish all their bottoms, skirts and trousers, had back-elastic waists. I need a little room there, plus they stay up better than fixed waistbands. Lily Silk re-opened The Silk Road a dozen years ago, I’ve been shopping there since the beginning. Silk is the Queen of fabrics, nothing even comes close to its comfort, especially for hyper-sensitive skin like mine.

Buying and keeping high quality preppy or classic clothing pieces shoes accessories is great for people who don’t like shopping, trends, and variety. They’d be happy wearing the same cashmere sweaters chinos loafers for years.
For those who can’t stick to preppy and classic or love trends and shopping, spending a lot of money for a luxury wardrobe only to want a new wardrobe next year doesn’t make sense.
I am in the later category. I have a few good classics but am not going to get more because I don’t even wear my good classics that much.
