There is nothing moral about remaining silent, for years, when the Israelis have been carrying out systemic genocide against the Palestinians that has been every bit as barbaric and inhumane as what Hamas just committed. Are you aware that, overall, the number of innocent Palestinians killed at the hands of Israelis is 10 times greater than the numbers of Israelis killed by Palestinians? Are you aware that Israel long ago turned all of Gaza into an open-air prison, with the people having no rights whatsoever. They have no freedom of movement, a scarcity of clean water, and rationed electricity. Please, spare me your arrogance about how moral you and Pakman think you are, when he has never once acknowledged the inhumanity of the Israel-inflicted apartheid state that exists there, and you claim to be "with him" in that regard.

Sadly, ordinary Gazans - many of whom have nothing to do with Hamas - will now suffer the consequences (as you said David, very much expected considering the severity of the attack) which will be felt for a very long time. Definitely a losing prospect for any sort of hope for a Palestinian state and Hamas knows this but clearly could care less about it.

If the people who are capable of acknowledging and recognizing suffering on both sides, and who are capable of acknowledging and recognizing the bad acts on both sides, could get together and kick out all of the fanatics, maybe some solution to this endless war could be found. I will say that the people who completely blame one side of the other are only making things worse in the long run for the side they supposedly support. If you deny the humanity of the ordinary people on either side, you are just feeding into a dialogue that creates more violence. Like if you insist that either side basically has no right to exist, how do you expect that side to respond? Just leads to an endless cycle of violence and more violence

It seems extraordinary that this major open sore on the geopolitical landscape cannot be sorted due to the inability to agree about Jerusalem. That kinda shows how much religion is involved in all this. I'm a firm believer where there's a will there's a way. If the US ,EU, Russia, China etc had been determined to sort this, they could have enforced/ encouraged both sides to reach an agreement. They didn't bother. 65 years imprisonment of the entire Palestinians population in their own land by the Israel is totally inhumane. Israel continuios illegal land grab from Palestinians are out right criminal acts. How would any country would like to switch places to live as Palestinians under Israeli control and oppression for 65 years? I'm sure my comment will either get deleted or I'll be shadow-banned, but here goes.... As an actual "far leftist" and proud socialist (and "dirty commie"), I'd just like to chime in and say the majority of us condemn Hamas and their actions, and recognize they're a terrorist organization, while at the same time, proudly stand with the people of Palestine. It's truly horrible what they've (Hamas) committed, but the same can be said about the IDF. It's a lot more nuanced than what mainstream media tells you. One can be pro-Jewish, anti-Zionist, and pro-Palestine at the same time. We just want to see the apartheid state end. The fact that Israel can control if the innocent civilians of Palestine get food, electricity, and water is criminal.

I don't want to play a game of, "Ooh look at me, I'm so clever", but the tattoo artist is German citizen (not sure if she is dual Israeli citizenship or not) Shani Louk. As I said, I'm not trying to be clever I just think these people (assuming the worst) need to have their names said. They have to be remembered. I mean, that's why names on cenotaphs are so important. We will remember them. I also saw the same shop owner you refer to. Let's just say he was a lover of Hamas and revelled in what his people did on Saturday. Does that make him evil and deserve any less our sympathy? I think not. He's a human being with all our same flaws, failings and fears. War is humanities cancer and we need to exorcise it from our system before it kills us all.
By the way, if you can get uncensored footage of Shani in the back of the pickup, with Hamas "men" (I use the term loosely as I barely see them as human) all around her, she is not naked. She has underwear or possibly shorts and a bikini top on, however the way one "man" is gripping her top, it has ridden up exposing her breasts, though she is face down not moving and, by the look of her legs and how one arm dangles, looks, well, dead. But we can't say that with any certainty. Now, I only wished to add this addendum because so many outlets are reporting she was paraded naked. What she is wearing could easily be typical of clothing worn to a rave and even if it is worse at least she still has underwear on and, as I said, you can see her top is up, but she was not exposed. It's important, I think, that things don't get sensationalised. Remember, the first casualty of war is truth.

This is a bunch of gaslighting and hypocrisy. The question you ask about whether it's good or fair for Israel to attack Gaza... and then marking that it is OBVIOUS that it would happen. THAT is the point people like me are making about the concert due to the continous active aggression and invasion by Israel. Why aren't you asking the same series of questions in the other direction? Hell no it is not good or okay what Hamas did, but it was certainly expected. And the comparison to yourself and Trump is actually brilliant because everyday of his regime I worried what other countries would want to do to us if this country didn't resist and revolt. What if another country wanted to "liberate us" from our leader the way we liberated the Afghanis or the Iraqis, for two of many examples? Or, what if other countries felt threatened enough by his antics and ability to start a world war and took actions to stop him and our government at whatever cost to protect the rest of the world? I am absolutely not saying that an Israeli deserved what happened because no one does. I *am* saying that I would expect something like that to happen after so long and so much has happened and there doesn't appear to be a large presence of Israelis standing against it or trying to change it. Why can't the rest of the world want Israel to stop so there can ever be a chance of peace? Why does the world allow it to continue? I want Hamas destroyed, and I also want Israel stopped at the same time. If any of this makes me not a Progressive, that's fine because I've never claimed to be one and won't be shamed into pretending it was less expected than the Gaza attacks are going to be.
