  • SQL Interviews are always tricky.
    There is always a better way to write a query and if you haven't spent time studying it can really bite you.
    If you're looking to study for your SQL and data science interviews, then check out StrataScratch:

    About me:
    I have spent my career focused on all forms of data. I have focused on developing algorithms to detect fraud, reduce patient readmission and redesign insurance provider policy to help reduce the overall cost of healthcare. I have also helped develop analytics for marketing and IT operations in order to optimize limited resources such as employees and budget. I privately consult on data science and engineering problems both solo as well as with a company called Acheron Analytics. I have experience both working hands-on with technical problems as well as helping leadership teams develop strategies to maximize their data.

    Honestly I grinded questions on SS for like 3 months and it improved my SQL immensely. So much so that I can confidently say it helped me land a senior analyst role recently. Their YT content is also A+

    Whew am i intimidated by technical interviews! I know SQL ought to be the strongest skill for almost all data engineer roles, I got fairly decent at it by the end of last year, but the past few months my courses have focused on Python, Bash/Shell, and interacting with various databases' CLIs, so I'm hoping I havent lost too much by the time I can get back around to it haha

    Hahaha😁 I had an experience during an interview couple of years back. 10 sql questions, I had to first write the logic/query on paper and then run it, no change in logic allowed when quering in db , in my head all 10 were correct, but when I wrote the query only 7 gave expected result🥲 During development we often start at one place and then change things based on how results are coming! Having the exact logic on paper first was difficult!

    • @SeattleDataGuy
      @SeattleDataGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I might just walk out if that happened haha. When I gave interviews I encouraged people to query as much as they wanted. If you get all the answers in 30 minutes, I don't care how many times you had to rewrite your query.
