The Pup Kingdom & Gibbon in Adventure Time’s Future (“Come Along With Me” Supplemental Lore)

- FYI: This video ended up being "set for kids" by TH-cam and I currently cannot even try to appeal that due to TH-cam Studio being bugged (my attempts to report this issue and get it fixed have thus far been fruitless). I am still currently trying to resolve this. My content is from an adult viewer's perspective and targeted at other adults to foster discussion about the surprising depth that Adventure Time packs.
In this speculative video, I explore notes and drawings by Steve Wolfhard (a writer and storyboard artist for Adventure Time) of Gibbon and a variety of concept design pups (which never appear in the show itself). Join me in my attempt to theory-craft some makeshift lore about the future Land of Ooo and its inhabitants.

Something I realized rethinking it... Sweet P, has basically become the new Billy. A giant hero with a long flowing beard, hanging around a new aspiring hero. I wonder if this is intentional, since the Lich killed and possessed Billy awhile back.
I think it is, as Sweet P is just a pure form of the Lich (pure meaning none of the evil bits)

Probabbly somewhere down the line fin told the story of his hero to sweet pea. Who he then mentioned was killed by the lich. Sweet pea knowing he was the lich felt he had to atone for the evil he had committed as the lich and decided to become a hero like fin and billy, having inherited fins demon sword, or possibly ( since peppermint butler grew up again learning dark magic ) he probabbly made a sword that was big enough for sweet pea but still copied fins sword design in honor of fin. Sweet Pea who is probabbly immortal goes around finding and defeating evil wherever he sees it and tails close by the prize ball guardian to ensure the candy citizens are never in danger. But it’s all just my imagination running wild :)

one additional detail you may have missed: gibbon has brown fur in "daddy daughter card wars", and white fur later when he possesses the ice crystal. as we saw with simon, his hair turned white when the crown transformed him. this further proves that that crystal is one of the crown's own.
What if he got white hair out of old age?

Ik im 10 months late lol but I think the artists of the pups made another comic about what happened to Jake. Basically, he got a disease that made him not stop growing so I believe It was Princess Bubblegum put him in the giant crater caused by the atomic bomb that started the mushroom war, which he filled before he died. A new continent formed over Jake’s body, filling the Earth.

I think he calls the other pups "son" sort of like how the ice king calls everybody "Gunter" out of his madness, probably due to the sadness at the loss of his mother.

Gibbon lost his power to the donut witch. When Gunther married turtle princess it was a donut with the crown gem in it. The donut ended up in the witch’s garden which gibbon stole and like his grandfather refused to apologize and loses his powers, but uses the gem to create his own powers and gain immortality

But that would mean that 36,000 pups were born before Gibbon got the gem. It seems like Gibbon would have died before that point.

The whole "Future Ooo" thing is so reminiscent of the "Mushroom War" circa the beginning of the series. Now we know a lot about what happened in that era, but I still remember back in seasons two or three when we'd just see the occasional broken building or the occasional namedrop and everyone would be theorizing all over the place. While we'll likely never get answers for this particular mystery, it's very nostalgic.
Everything stays, but it still changes. Ever so slightly, daily and nightly, in little ways, when everything stays.

Seems like the crew of Adventure Time had 1000 years worth of more stories to tell that they're leaving up to us to finish.
tbh, the show opened so many storylines that it would take forever to finish, turning the show bad in teh process cuz there's no way they can keep this quality for that long, at the end they left us with a well constructed world and the last episodes where just to answers the bigger questions.
I thank them for it. This show went out on its own terms.

You’re in luck. As there’s a Season 11 comic, unfortunately I haven’t read it so I don’t know what it’s about but I know it exists.
I'm pretty sure the memorial statues are for Finn and Jermaine, not Finn and Jake. Since Finn is a human he obviously doesn't live forever, and Jermaine is a full blooded dog. Jake is the half alien hybrid, who probably outlived everyone else. I think Jake not only built those statues but he's also now the wall around the Pup Kingdom, since if you pause as the intro is zooming in you can see an eye above the door. Remember Jake the Brick? My guy is taking it to a whole new level.

The new world seems really depressing, the sky is gray, the grass is pale, and the land seems less diverse, it seems as . if the entire candy . kingdom is preparing for an extinction level even with the big container they're in, the tables are turned with Simon and Betty, Simon now trying to get back Betty, the Lich is still inside Sweet Pea, and seems to have a shared conscience throughout the multiverse, generally everything seems kinda bleak for everyone, like everything is dying, also, do you think fin went back to purple comet to become a god?

With the lich thing and how things reversed I think he would be a catalyst for good now.
It's the ice age. Someone else explained how the time lines match awhile back.
Right now we are in an interglacial period. The old ice age never ended, it just took a break. In a thousand years things will get colder again, which makes it hard for most large plants to survive, which is why ooo is dominated by grass lands in Finn's time.
In shermy and beth's time, the glaciers are probably already expanding again, things are gloomy and duller because it's colder and windier.
The original guy explained it way better with actual episode to episode evidence though.
It could be why the ice crown has grown so much stronger...

There might be a pup that can steal powers, a renegade pup and enemy of thr kingdom. Perhaps that's why Gibbon removes powers so that they cannot be used by the power thief.

I love how many other cartoons have future episodes where heroes are still celebrated and everyone is happy but in Adventure Time, 1000 years later, Finn's statue is destroyed, Candy Kingdom is in ruins and no one looks happy. That sets AT apart from any other show for me.

I feel like Beth and Shermy could have their own show. Its so distant and different from Adventure Time that it wouldn't put off new viewers too much. I would love to watch the life and misadventures of these two characters in this very different Ooo. I would love to see their interactions with the Pup kingdom and others, and to watch them uncover the past and have a fascination with Finn like Finn and Jake with Billy. It would be neat if the Finn sword is still alive and could advise shermy and teach him to be a hero.

Amazing analysis. The new Ooo is actually so intriguing to the point where I want to know more. Its still a weird feeling seeing Ooo so empty but it does make sense since civilization started going to space.

I'm thinking the spacesuit pups are actually a breed that evolved in space. Gravity definitely plays a role in how we developed into what we are, so its possible that these pups may not only be better suited for space (no pun intended), they may not even be able to function in normal gravity (or at least our gravity) without those suits. While in space, astronauts have to constantly exercise as to prevent massively damaging muscle deterioration, and most creatures that live in high pressure deep ocean environments can't effectively survive close to the surface, so it goes without saying that these pups may have shed complex and physically varied appearances, in favor of simpler, easier to manage bodies that could better adapt to low gravity if not zero gravity.

- Someone stole his initial power
- He later learned how they did this, "pup power extinguishment", and developed this ability himself
- Whether 'pup power extinguishment' means 'a pup, with power entinguishment' or 'the ability of extinguishing pup powers, specifically' is unclear but considering the Ice Thing's stolen gem, I'd wager it's the former and he can just assimilate power from any being.
Gibbon is on track to be the most powerful entity in Future-Ooo if he pleases, and could totally be a villain in a sequel series.

It's funny how in the future, Gibbon is kind of the bad guy, despite his grandfather being one of Ooo's greatest heroes. I think it's because he got power-hungry under the influence of the jewel, which is why he began extinguishing pup powers.
It would be cool to see Finn and Jake traveling around the future lands
It poignantly reflects a lot of what's happening in our own world in the last couple years. Extremism and authoritarianism are turning us 180 degrees and destroying whatever good there was in us. It's admirable for great shows like Adventure Time to make references to this. It shows that their heart is in the right place. Shows that they have some real depth.

I think the alien pups in the space suits are children of normal, non-magic dogs and rainicorn children. If you think about it, Jake and Lady's pups were so magical because of their parents, so if a non-mutant dog had children with a rainicorn then those aliens could be their children

@@musicaleyes7187 I mean just because we don’t see Jake doesn’t mean he’s dead. In the comics Jake fills in the huge gap in the earth so he might still be alive.
It is very possible that Gibbon isn't a leader, but instead a commander (akin to Colonel Candy Corn) and/or an adviser of some sorts. If we assume royalty was based off order of lineage, then Kim Kil Whan's daughter and further descendants would likely be those who are considered first in line of the throne (as they would be earliest born, and therefor reaching maturity the quickest in order to have more kids), which very much lines up with the design of Beth resembling Bronwyn. She also resembles Charlie, but we have confirmation that Gibbon is her only child based off the Tarot Card reading. My personal theory is that Gibbon is not leader but is desperately attempting to control the kingdom from a position of "adviser" and commander, positions which he gained from claiming he is the most wise from having seen so much of history (immortality and such), as well as likely being the person who introduced the crystalline technology which they now utilize on a regular basis.
I think he is partially ridding pup's of power due to the same reason you presented yourself, but also because he wishes to prevent any other pup from being able to overpower him and likely states it is "for the safety of the kingdom" since some powers can be quite devastating or destructive. I think the royal family knows about such plans but are literally powerless to stop him (he holds sway over a good portion of the kingdom it seems and the very least their military force), and thus kept Beth secret as best as they could in order to stop her power from being E.A.B.'d and allow her to escape. One day they hope she will be able to return and defeat Gibbon, allowing the Pups to be freed from his machinations.

Gibbons is the originator of the pup kingdom he may not be the king now and is just a wise old wizard but he was the first king.

Also, rainicorns are from the crystal dimension, so crystal technology is probably just a future version of rainicorn technology. and results from continued contact.

Here's what I think happened with Finn. He probably got older and looked and sounded exactly like he did in Puhoy and possibly had kids with Huntress Wizard or one of the humans that came back to Ooo. As he got older, he still went on adventures with Jake, PB, Marcy, FP to protect the innocent of Ooo and possibly worked as a dignitary to ensure peace as much as possible. The gang probably had to fight off many threats over the years, but I think Finn died of old age with his relatives and PB and Marcy by his side. And PB immediately commissioned a statue to be made of two of her greatest friends for centuries of Ooo citizens to see.

Maybe gibbon had a weird experience with the gem eye going on, or maybe gibbon really loved his mother up to the point that it was a traumatic experience to remember her. She was a single mother so gibbon and Charlie would be really close to each other, I just think there could be more going on with the idea of something happened in that area. The gem idea is probably more accurate though.

It reminded me of that vault scientists built with all the plant species. Its walking around like a genetic bank but they are insuspended animation. Maybe bubblegum pass away and tasked it to protect and find a new land for a kingdom. Maybe she froze herself like waltdisney and also everyone else, waiting for revival technology to be invented.
In the intro in the ice kingdom there is some pink hands poking out of some bars
I'm pretty sure Bubblegum likely knew that the world was becoming so bleak, and with the added fact that the Kingdoms of Pups and Ice are likely at war with 1 another, she likely created a Gumball Gaurdian that was supposed to act like the ultimate protector, shielding them by acting as a shelter for the entire kingdom

Duy Khang Trần that’s a possibility. With one of it’s leaders being crazy in the head and only dogs(and hotdogs)seems to still be the only race or advance race. Well we don’t know what has happened to other race and that includes Mars considering they have a level of control of the solar system’s space.

Remember that the crown also make people crazy and long for the people who they love the most in their lives. I saw Gibbon’s cry for his mom as his insanity towards his moms death. Maybe he killed Charlie on accident or she passed away tragically, who knows
The theory of Gibbon taking away the pups powers does make sense cuz back when Jake was raising his kids, he couldn’t handle all of their abilities.
So extend that to an entire kingdom...idk if it’s right or wrong. I personally think it’s wrong, but I don’t see Gibbon as “bad.” I see him being similar to Bubblegum, doing what he thinks is best for them at that current point in time.
It's crazy and beautiful how the show can remain pregnant with promise and story potential and yet be over. To want an episode with gibbon and know he'll never get his own episode. Tragic, but kind of fitting for adventure time

I think im feeling melancholic for something that I dont even (and we will never) know. Thats how great Adventure Time is.
I have a feeling that Gibbon is basically the villian of 1000+ years future. And I imagine he does exist since Finn and Jake era... so, if we look at Finn's & Jake's /Jemaine's estatue in opening, maybe that was a memorial because they fight with Gibbon until the end in past but... they lost? I think that could explain the estatues.

Gibbon is the son of charlie and the decendant of jake his not that much of a threat on the future but consider to be wise, since the fall of the candy kingdom gibbon then learned the ways of magic and the power of the crystal tech and uses it to extinguish powers from a new birth pups to secure his power and the total chaos of the pup kingdom then within his mind is a fear of the destruction of the kingdom for those who can be born with some kind of a unique power to over thrown the kingdom and within that fear , he stole the gem of the ice thing and replace his left eye with it to gain immortality and continue to extinguish powers from new born pups

Steve Wolfhard just added some more lore to his Tumblr! It gives us more info on the fire and slime people in the intro (apparently they are indeed the next Elementals), as well as some cryptic info on the new Lumpy Space Princess.
Wolfhard claims that the other two Elementals are "accounted for in the intro." Of course, Patience St. Pim is seen frozen in her dome, but we never see a Candy Elemental in the intro. This could mean that the pink hands in the Ice Thingdom are PB's, or a new Candy Elemental's.
That would explain why Marceline is in the Ice Kingdom, shes looking for Bubblegum.
I would love an open world game featuring this version of Ooo. If we aren’t getting a new series, then I at least want to explore these new mysteries in a different medium :) I was so satisfied at the conclusion of Adventure Time. We already know so much about the world and the people living in it that if it stayed any longer I feel it would lose its luster. Yet, here is this new iteration that introduces a (almost) completely new cast with new kingdoms and issues that don’t feel like the old ones with a new coat of paint over them. I want more Adventure Time!!! Gaaah!! XD

I don't know if you ever see this comment, but i sincerely wish you do.
First time i saw adventure time, was when i was 13-14 years old. At first glance, i thought it was just a silly cartoon, but as i watched "just a few more episodes" it really fell in love with it. Was it because i draw lines between me and Finn or is it shady nuclear war background that drove my attention and sparkle my curiosity, i still can't decide. But i clearly remember how just in a few DAYS i watched all available episodes (i think it was like 5th or 6th season at a time) and i couldn't wait for more. As i grew, i came back to it a few times, to refresh old memories and watch few more seasons. Than, I've had a pretty rough year, graduating from school, final exams, university, you know, there was no time for a cartoon, but than, in September, I've heard that adventure time is finished, and all episodes are out.
And I've had this feeling, that i have to finish it, let go my childhood... So, I am, with a great sense of nostalgia, rewatched all of it, till the last season. And oh boy, was it a heartbreaking moment, watching last episode, the FINALE. The moment of Bonnibel and Marceline kissing, Betty and Simon are together only for a brief tragic moment, death of Fern, and ending song to wrap up ending of great cartoon and so my childhood... I can't lie, for the last 15 minutes i barely saw anything through my tears and i had to rewatch it a few times ;).
I hope you felt somewhat the same way as i did. I felt personally attached to this masterpiece and i am sure Adventure Time crew did their best in making such a great finale.
I still hope you'll make a review on it, I really do wanna know your feelings.

I’d assume it’s his feelings about his mother’s death that also mixed with a bit of ice thing’s feelings and a partial mental breakdown make gibbon incredibly unstable.
I assume the identical pups are clones or lab made, they have emotions and can have lives, they just started off differently.

The candy kingdom is in space i forgot which episode it was but it's shown to us that tree trunks is mother to an alien race and in that episode we figure out that pb sent something out into space to see if there was any planets they could live on if something ever happened to the candy kingdom and since 1000 years later it's destroyed i can only guess she found a planet they could live on and moved there
That bird ice king thing was in season 10 episode 11 when Finn and jermaine went to mars to rescue Jake, in the second stage of the telemetry capsule the ice thing was sitting on a branch changing the numbers Betty wrote down, it even had the jewel in its eye missing
Maybe so many “pups” were “breeding” that there were just a lot of “walking nukes” so all “pups” had their powers extinguished at birth

The crown/jewel amplifies an existing issue within the person's mind. You could be right about the "mommy issues" but I'm more inclined to think that Gibbon is simply overcome by perpetual grief from outliving all of the people in his live, combined with one naturally missing their parents after a while.
So my theory is that the Ice Thing's 1 jewel was stolen by Gibbon, since it was on the ring. Gibbon somehow put it on his eyes idk lol and enslaved the Pup Kingdom. The current royal family sent Beth to live with someone else to one day destroy Gibbon. The pups got their crystal dimension technology from the apple left behind. Beth befriended Shermy, an immature reincarnation of Finn. The Ice Thing meanwhile lost full sanity after Turtle Princesses death and became a flying being roaming Ooo. I'm sure Shermy has his own storyline but we have no information.

Eh..I kinda feel like that would ruin it, ruin the mystery and eventually, good ideas will just stop existing, this series has existed so long, even with another apocalypse and a re-shaping of Earth a second time over, I still feel like there wouldn't be enough to keep the show afloat.

What if his Pee Pee was his actual Pee Pee? What if a pup getting spayed or neutered takes away their powers? How messed up would it be if Charlie had him spayed or neutered at birth and actually taking away his powers as well. Let's just say that this is a forgotten practice and hasn't been used on any of the pups. So eventually Charlie sees the future again and sees Gibbon becoming even more of a dictator using both his pup powers and the powers from the gem. So she finds a way to neutralize his powers. This would lead to him having some mother issues and this could ultimately lead him to discovering and wanting to claim the gem for its powers. Once he learns about how his powers were taken away he begins to spay and neuter newly born pups and taking away their powers. Now that I think about it this would lead to a shortage of pups which would explain the space space suit pups being loyal to Gibbon as they are clones or something created by him. So since Beth still has her powers she hasn't been spayed or neutered. So she can continue the lineage of pups, which is why she's an enemy to the Pup Kingdom under Gibbon's rule.
