Great look at the game, and I loved Tom's enthusiasm for this game. I'm a huge Dice Throne fan and so I'm somehow even more excited about this game than he is! Glad he's a fan as well. I think Thor-vs-Loki is the best matchup in the game, so I definitely think the 4-pack is the best choice if you want to start with one box first. Plus Scarlet Witch is a great intro to a more complex hero, and Miles is a fantastic matchup against Thor for 2 beginners. But when Tom was talking about why Black Widow is his favourite hero in the game, I couldn't help but agree that she's a fantastic DT hero. The upgrades, the time bomb... so fun. This is such a good game, and each of the heroes adds a totally different element that makes them feel so thematic and fun to play. "Get them all" is the right advice, for sure.
Looking forward to getting my big box with everything in it! Gonna put it next to my other big Dice Throne boxes that are taking up too much space in my house.
I love love love your videos Tom, but you have an ongoing problem over the years of often holding cards to the camera's left of center thus having them unreadable and out of focus for us. Other than that, keep up the outstanding content and thank you!
Strange shares his die facing and lack of a "dump" attack with the Paladin from season 1. Paladin can tithe into a possible attack, balancing out his high CP gains. Strange appears to get around this through his use of the Deja Vu tokens.
Hey so with Scarlet Witch, couldn’t you eventually steal two of Black Panther’s kinetic energy positive status effect token and then they couldn’t ever get to eight and you could get the extra damage effect from it? Or they would still keep gaining and use something else to mark the count of kinetic energy?

I was thinking that it would be cool to play with King of Tokyo characters, but yeah there are so many IPs out there to choose from that have super powered characters. Love the He-Man idea @retro-matic gamer Other TV shows that would be fun to licence (or pay homage to) would be Samurai Jack, The Tick, Captain Planet/Voltron/Power Rangers (group that forms one super-powered thing), GI Joe, Spawn, Space Ghost... The heck? Not launching with Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, and Wolverine is a mistake, IMHO. Those are Marvel's biggest ticket attractions! How about at least Moon Knight, since his series is underway right now?
It looks like a strong line-up from a movies and TV perspective. Another way to look at the line-up is that the characters are fairly diverse. Are they the 6 characters I'd pick? No. I'd happily swap out Thor for Moon Knight, and Captain Marvel for Ms. Marvel.
I think the fellas that reviewed in the other video said it best. The selection of heroes gives something for everyone. For people who like the lesser known heroes like Miles Morales there’s something for them. For those who want main attractions you have Thor and Captain Marvel. The good news is, this game performed so well on Kickstarter I’m willing to bet there will be a part 2 where we might see the likes of Hulk or Ironman. Personally I’d love to see a Marvel Villains so we can really have a battle.

Personally, I think the lineup they chose is a great mix of popular heroes that also work really well as Dice Throne heroes, and you can tell that a lot of thought went into what heroes would play well in this system, because they've got great thematic mechanics that are really fun to play. Also the designers of the game are huge Marvel fans themselves and so they chose heroes that they personally love.
Captain America is really boring (IMO) and his shield would be really similar to Thor’s hammer in a 1 v 1 game (I could see it having a different dynamic in a bigger game). The others you mentioned would be cool, but I actually prefer all of these characters to any of those… although I would be fine swapping out Captain Marvel for one of those (her character also seems kind of boring to me). I wouldn’t consider myself a huge Marvel fan, but Dr. Strange and Loki are probably my favorite characters and they are both super fun to play. The radiance tokens on Captain Marvel are only used to turn dice into a 6 during your defensive roll phase not the offensive roll phase.

I never really try to look at the cards directly, it's more to get an impression. The cards go too fast anyway to look in detail.
Great video! My kid and I just got to try Marvel Dice Throne at Origins 2022, and really enjoyed it. We will be picking it up!

how hard is it to re-focus camera when showing close-ups?
can you "retrieve" the Hanmer if it was never thrown also can you do that move if the hammer wasn't thrown yet
No, the Thor instruction sheet makes it clear that the hammer can only be thrown if Thor has it and retrieved if someone else has it.

The old Heroes are done in the new movies after Thanos. They've chosen heroes that will be in the new movies going forward. I understand that choice.
