I did it, and it works pretty good! Thanks for the tip guys. The tubes were just about $2.50. People without glasses couldn't imagine how they limit and cause annoyance during activities. I just moved apartments and carrying boxes using both hands means your glasses slip down and there was nothing I could do. Everyday activities and working are slower when you have to push your glasses up ever 2 minutes to be able to see.
I didn't have those plastic thingys laying around, and I wanted to fix my glasses fast! so what I did is I bent the "elbows" of the arms a little bit towards the lenses and it worked like a charm!
I use Urban Decay's De-Slick primer on the bridge of my nose. It helps loads. I normally have to re-apply two or three times a day, but I have pretty oily skin so others may not have that issue.
Great video. I used heat shrink tubing with adhesive inside because it doesn't slip off when it gets warm from your head. Clean the plastic with alcohol before applying the shrink tubing
Or, you can get a hairdryer and heat the arms of the glasses to be pliable enough to slowly bend them to the shape you wish, and when they are snug against your ears, they won't slide down.
If you have access to a heat gun or hotbox, might as well heat the temple and permanently bend it inward or downward to ultimately shorten the length of the arms - permanent fix
i got mine from home depot, after a few months of using it i recommend being generous on the tube and cover most of the arm after the bend, i find it a little less irritating on the ears if the tubes are extended over the arms so its not sitting on your ear when you put it on, so it extends over your ears
I make tips from oxygen cannula nose pieces that work very well for me. I cut them right between the nostril protusions and far enough back to get a tight fit over the ear pieces of the glasses. Then slip them on your ear pieces with the nostril protrusions pointing down. If you know someone using an oxygen concentrator just have them save their old cannula for you, the super soft cannula are best.
You can fix this by just bending the arms actually. Some plastic arms may bend, others may not, so just check to see if yours are bendable. If they're slipping, you bend the arms more downward which sticks better on to your ears/head. Won't slide as much now.
i would also suggest either small rubber bands or small hair bands (braces bands also work). wrap them around a few times. i put one where the frame crosses my ears, and one on the back to catch my hair.
I actually fixed a pair of aviators using this stuff. I had left my shades in the car and the plastic bits, that go over your ear, became brittle and broke. So I put heat shrink over them, with a little glue, and they're fixed.
You don't need a heat gun. Just carefully run it over your stove (I have a gas stove). It shrunk tight in seconds. Worked like a charm. No more slipping! Thanks for the help. Found the size polyolefin I needed at Ace Hardware. Size 8 worked for my sunglasses and size 6 worked for my reading glasses.
You can get the same assorted sizes pack he did in the video (if you're not sure what size you need) at Ace Hardware and they will cut the tubing and heat-shrink it on using their heat gun for free. They did it with my glasses and also on my DE shaver for extra grip. And if you don't have an Ace Hardware near you, I guarantee Home Depot or Menards will do the same for free. It takes less than five minutes to find what you need and have them heat-shrink it on. No brainer...
You could probably just tape or glue some little foam pieces on the part by your nose if you don’t have those nosepads that stick out. Or if you want something that can be removed, you could wrap hair ties around the elbow/ arm part of the glasses
The arms of my specs have sort of opened up too wide, maybe I had glasses on my head - I heard that would stretch the arms. Whereabouts is the best placs on the arms to put the hairbands, down where ot curvez around ears or up closer to side of face? Thankyou :)
My glasses slip a lot because the frames are all messed up I need an adjustment, but my dust mask with the ear straps I use at work holds them real good. There are also rubber tips you can buy on amazon that serve the same purpose as this heat shrink tubing.
this method is awesome! i tried it, and my black frame ray bans would always slide down when i sweat, i got the tubes for $2.17 took about 10 mins, does not require a heat gun, a lighter will work perfectly
Use a normal-sized rubber band for each side. It has the same effect for something that is cheaper and way easier to find. just try not to break the rubber band. you can adjust the position of the rubber band way more easily as well.
@@justdave6207 a rubber band would probably catch onto long hair & pull it out slowly sending me BALD! Life is hard enough for me lol without getting bald patches around my hairline. The joys of getting too darn OLD 😱
You can easily shrink the tubing by quickly moving the flame of a lighter or match under it. I do it all the time when using heat shrink tubing for electronics too and am too lazy to pull out the heat gun. The heat from a soldering iron also works, but not suggested for glasses just in case you accidentally touch the glasses with the hot soldering iron tip.
I am broke atm, and I have glasses that have both sides of the frame broken. Right where it's supposed to bend, how could I fix that? Since I don't have money in my pocket
I got my sleeves from Maplins in the UK. I steamed mine over the kettle and they shrank like a good un. I have to admit I have not tested them yet without as my face has had a psoriasis flare and infection where the glasses keep on slipping and rubbed. why didn't they make glasses with materials that don't slip!!! I cant wear metal not silicone as they set off my psoriasis.
That's funny, something I do. Wonder why I'm watching something that has no relevance and net will in my life but watching it anyway. I got the BEST ideas to fix my glasses. Only 10:47pm, started at 9am till , DUH, UTUBE IT so I guess we're even😳
Why don't you just stop into an optical shop and get your glasses adjusted? Plastic frames like yours will always loosen up over time and slip due to your body heat/sweat. I've been working in optics for a long time, and while your trick sounds great, it probably won't solve your problem completely. Oakley frames that have this heat shrink tubing don't bend around your ears, but apply pressure to the side of your head, and that is why the tubing works. Most frames, plastic or metal, need to b
the tip is guys glasses companies are a shame and dont give a toss about ur eyes...........this slipping problem is recent times, they making glasses cheap and charging double
Unfortunately it didn't work for me. The plastic is too soft or smooth and doesn't get a good grip with my ears. This worked for me better: th-cam.com/video/kjEv6dWc7p8/w-d-xo.html
Anyone else go looking for other vids as soon as he showed the heat gun?
Yep 😂😂
Did you find help?
stoi689 me.
Just use a hair dryer
U can use a lighter too

+cherriesandaukulele can't thank you enough!! I just did it worked out great.
That's alright! I actually think that's what they do at an optical shop
I tried doing the nose part but that didn't work
+cherriesandaukulele Wooooow! that really worked!! Thank you so much!
Almost a 5min video and this worked in 5 sec. Awesome, thanks!
I use Urban Decay's De-Slick primer on the bridge of my nose. It helps loads. I normally have to re-apply two or three times a day, but I have pretty oily skin so others may not have that issue.
Been trying to find a fix for this for a while, and this worked like a charm. Luckily I had 1/4” heat shrink on hand.
Great video. I used heat shrink tubing with adhesive inside because it doesn't slip off when it gets warm from your head. Clean the plastic with alcohol before applying the shrink tubing
Thanks for the tip! I used rubber bands though and they work like a charm. Woohoo!!
Persol sunglasses are the worst for slipping. I've owned two pairs and both of them were slipping off my nose.
Can confirm that too!
I have a new pair of Persols and it’s happening to me right now 🙁
@@ReconFacks :( try to bend the ends of the arms to fit your ear better.
Or, you can get a hairdryer and heat the arms of the glasses to be pliable enough to slowly bend them to the shape you wish, and when they are snug against your ears, they won't slide down.
Sunglasses counters at major department stores usually have a machine that heats the arms and bends them inward to re-tighten the fit.
If you have access to a heat gun or hotbox, might as well heat the temple and permanently bend it inward or downward to ultimately shorten the length of the arms - permanent fix
Look for KeepOn's on Amazon... I tried this and it didn't work, the KeepOns work great

I just used hot water it works the same and allows you to move the legs of the glasses to your size
Great tip! Unfortunately bending doesn’t always help if lenses are heavy or due to face shape.

The heat gun can potentially melt the frames, you should really disclaim that.
or you can just wrap thin black hair bands around the arms of the glasses...
bluestar52281 yeah that’s what I do
I’m about to now...all hail comments

Is there a video on how to stop my heat gun from slipping?
As an employee at Ace Hardware I can confirm that he did get it there, and before watching this I got some to do exactly the same thing
I just heat strink it and my life is so much better now , thanks for the tips guys !
omfg... it actually woked. I am an electronics nerd and I have a huge box of heat shrink, I was so scepticle. Thank you
sounds like you were spectacle.

This worked great! Very easy, very inexpensive. And my wife's hair dryer did the trick! We'll see how it lasts.
this is not a D-I-Y fix. normal everyday people don't own heat guns

I have a lot of old glasses will test on them 1st got a heat gun last time used fire alarm went off I will do it in garage this time
If you screw up how do you remove the shrink tube? I heated one up too much and it bubbled.
Quick DIY my ASS! WHo the fuck just has a heat gun laying around? P

maybe alt nurf dart on each arm.plus bonus nurf ammo always.

Just did it with a hairdryer. Thanks!
You comment this 8 years ago and still have three likes
What kind if Persol's are those?
what is the name of that black thing? english isn't my native language so it's little bit hard to hear
+revengeofachild They are called heat-shrink tubing :)
I did this, the heatshrink tubes just loose tightness after a couple months and add to the problem.
they already sell rubber temple holders for eyeglasses cheap
i used small o-rings and it worked too
thanks for the great idea
That's actually what I did with mine... Works pretty well.
Is that a real olly moss silkscreen prit behind you?
would a hairdryer work?
Why don't they just make glasses like this in the first place
Why does everyone keep saying “like a charm”
such a simple fix’ but amazing results 🤘🤘
I don't even wear glasses. Not really sure why I watched this.

Norm is too cool for glasses!
Yes it does, done that a lot of times
where you get the tube?
Use hot water to make it more malleable and cold water to set them again.
tried this but it bubbled the ends of my frames. I didn't have access to a heat gun so I resorted to an open flame. bad idea
Any filipino here? Where could I buy these in our country? Please!
iuqahCility any hardware..
boil a cup of water and dip the heatshrink/glasses in, it'll shrink it
What about silicone?
A good hair dryer work good too.
can you use a iron
Who the hell has a heat gun!? How about showing it with what everybody has: a lighter!
I do
hippo potamus
Even better, blow dryer
I do. I also have a glue gun. And two staple guns. #nerdpower
not sure where to buy this in canada :(
Boy, Tested sure has come a long way in 8 years.
Back in the day glasses used to wrap around the ears. The reason they do it no longer makes no sense
Cheers for this, guys. I'll give it a go.
What if the arms of my glasses are straight?
If your using heat u might as well just bend the arms prob safe then leaching that plastic
I chose this video over others because I trust Jackie Chan over most other people
@1:52 lol ouch to any dirty hipsters out there with masking tape on their glasses. 😆
I was expecting something that we could do it without purchasing :)
Why your friend not doing it if you can’t see?
Of course, I'm sorry. In my language (dutch) it's schrink. I'm learning every day.

Just superglue on a strip of sandpaper, like a real man.
You need Nerdwax!!!
i need this
and yes this always happens to me too thx
You should wear glasses when doing that! It looks like you were melting your fingers!
Better iz superglue for sleeping on 'em... 🧐
I just do the anime glasses adjust. I just came here to say that.
What tubing? Speak so fast
Try tap3
