- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado work truck. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this truck while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds. A thorough tour/review of this truck designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I LOVE plain jane trucks like this. Trick it all out. That Silvie would make a great budget build.
What if you were to get a truck as your daily driver, like an average person would get something like a sedan? personally, I prefer either a Silverado LTZ (fully optioned out), Sierra SLT (fully optioned out) or Sierra Denali (comes standard with almost every option available).
GMC Denali 717 that’s just more things to go wrong and they are more expensive to fix. Don’t get me wrong, the higher end trucks are a LOT nicer than the work trim. But I’ll always like the work trim more.
"Tricking out" a vehicle like this is very tricky because you're limited by it's factory GVW. In some states like mine: Altering a vehicle to the point where it becomes heavier than its rating can render the vehicle an automatic fail come inspection time.
This is my kind of truck!!! just a basic, simple truck with no fancy bullshit! And that's one weird sounding chime! As is the turn signal flasher.

Do some of these people not get that this truck is a WORK TRUCK... What trucks should be made for. And you don't need power options to work.
+Sean Gibson Power options? #1 You need torque to tow. Lots of people use WT trim trucks to tow. #2 Some people only buy WT trim trucks because they can't afford more. #3 Some people just want a striped down work truck. For #1, you need an engine with enough power for that. There's a standard 4.3L Vortec 4300 (195 HP 260 Torque), or this 4.8L Vortec 4800 (2007-2009: 295 HP 305 Torque - 2010-2013: 302 HP 305 Torque). The 4800 will do fine, unless you need to tow more. Then, upgrade to an LT and then your choices are a 5.3L Vortec 5300 (315 HP 338 Torque), 6.0L Vortec 6000 (367 HP 375 Torque), or 6.2L Vortec 6200 (403 HP 417 Torque). Or else, just get a 2500 HD or 3500 HD with the 6.6L LMM Duramax diesel (2008-2010) (365 HP 660 Torque) or LML Duramax diesel (2011-2016) (397 HP 765 Torque). For #'s 2-3: those people may want more power without getting a higher trim, or modding the engine. Personally, I prefer a 2500 HD or 3500 HD with a twin turbo LML Duramax as a work truck, or cammed, roots/twin screw supercharged 376 6.2L Vortec 6200 putting out about 800 HP to the rear wheels, as a daily driver; with a 4.10 rear end and running open headers. You understand what I'm sayin?

@stopscrewingaround11 The LT's and LTZ's have the upgraded radios with OnStar built-in, so the chimes are different. This only has the A/M-F/M radio, 2 speakers, and no OnStar.

depending on trim/accessories and miles if it's used, anywhere from around $13k for a single cab to around $20-22k for an extended or crew cab z71 4x4. it can obviously get higher if sold with a lift, engine upgrades, etc.
@DizzyMan24 I have a 2011 WT with LS Trim (I have all the Chrome) That is a 4.3. And for anyone looking to get a 4.3, that thing is a bestly ^ cylinder. But i get the same gas mileage as my mom's 09 5.3 LT. I would suggest going with a 4.8 or 5.3. Have owned them all and love them all.
@southwestairlinguy No this truck does not have the V6, just look at the exhaust manifolds, there's 4 exhaust ports per side. The number of coil packs is also a dead giveaway it's a V8 This truck most likely has the 4.8L V8, but it's possible it has the 5.3L V8. The easiest way to determine the engine size it to look at the airbox cover. It's typically listed on a sticker.

yep, and my only gripe is the middle seat is kinda hard because of the underseat storage. Just dont get the dark colors, they show dirt A LOT. (Ours is Imperial Blue Metallic)

Vortec made the 4.8 and they also put the 4.3 v6 in these trucks in earlier years. I drove one, rwd, extended cab, w/ the 4.3 v6
yep, the Chime is a lot nicer on the Ears, the Horn is a nicer Dual Note Horn, you get Keyless Entry, The Lower Level DIC (That is fixable with GM Accessory #19159438), a nicer Sound System, and the Arm rest is nicer too!

Yeah that makes sense. The Silverado and Sierra together have outsold every vehicle in the country consistently for years, but somehow the seats in them lead them to somehow be what caused GM to go "bankrupted"...whatever that means.

the is a 5.3 liter, with optional air compresses belt with tensional release

it was base 4.8L V8, higher end was 5.3L V8

@09ICCE200 Thats what i said. the 4.3 is the base engine for all 1500's other then the LTZ. The 5.3 is also avaliable in the work trim.
@Motorfordtoyota No, it's not. The 4.8 is standard in the LS, and the 5.3 in the XFE, LT, and LTZ. Only the W/T has the 4.3 standard with optional 4.8

Silverardos are very nice., I love them. If I were to buy a Truck right now, it would be a hard decision between the Tundra or a Silverado or a Sierra!
@Herget11 is yours reg or ext? I have an older 4.3 ext, decent enough power off the line(sluggish with a/c) but poor city gas mileage(3.73). I know ppl with 4.8's that get better mpg then i do. probably wouldn't get a 4.3 again unless they up the power.

That's an interesting sound the exhaust makes, sounds like a propeller airplane taking off lol.
This truck has the 4.3L Vortec V6 with 195hp. The only reason I know the engine is the rims silverado extended cab w/t with the aluminum alloy rims usually have the V6 those that have the chrome rims that look like the aluminum on this truck have 4.8 or 5.3 V8.
A work truck doesn't really get much better than this. 8FT box, 5.3L/6.2L Vortec, and the most simple interior.
The only thing better would be the crew cab. (Doubt thats a 4.3. What work truck has a V6? [Unless it's the Cummins])

@DizzyMan24 Its a 4.8 Vortec....and the Cummins isn't a V6, its an I6
I call the Cummins a straight 6 because the cylinders are in a straight row.

One thing. I dreamed about the same truck but a 2008 one [Sigh] I dreamed about when we're going to the 2nd house from 8:10am to 4:45pm In the end, I've really enjoyed the time spent

@czechphil Actually the ext cab long bed 1500 Silverado comes standard with the 5.3 vortec iron block V8 no matter what trim level. Go to chevrolet's website & build one or look it up online.

Regular Cab. I have only had it for 10 months and am looking to trade it. I tow too much to use it. I thought i would get great gas mileage with the V6 but i get 17 MPG. Its okay but as much as i tow, i get horrible mileage when i tow. Reason being because i have my foot in the pedal and high rpm to get it to MOVE. I would probably never buy a 4.3 again, ever. Solid truck and dependable as can be, but i need more power!
I’ll tell you the straight, hard, cold truth. All of the gas Chevy trucks of this generation get terrible gas mileage. They all get about what your 4.3 liter gets.
And you are right, the only truck the 4.3 liter v6 is good in is the s10 or the Colorado.
@crystalscan2002 yes, GM is using cheaper quilty items wherever they can, and the leather would be one of them!
@jkman201 it is a v8 becauseo f the sound, i think it is a 4.7 liter, the smaller of the 3 v8

they've kinda downgraded a bit on these newer W/Ts.. the previous generation W/Ts (at least the '06 Silverado W/T that i own) came standard with chrome bumpers, an integrated radio/CD player, as well as oil pressure/battery gauges.. but then again, these things were meant purely for work anyway.. still would be nice to be able to listen to your own music while on the job though.
oh and i like this chime better than the standard one GM puts in their vehicles.. sounds like it came out of a VW
Idk why this Silverados like that. Most of the 2007-2013 have a cd player with a couple new features.

@stopscrewingaround11 My brother-in-law has a Silverado LT (don't know the exact year but on this bodystyle) and I think it's pretty cool. He had me wash it for him today and detail it. I drove it from his place to my house and I thought it drove great.
i think those are vynl seats, this truck is made for a construction company, they just want something to give to their workers for cheap
@maxamillion1011 well, in 2007, it was still a 4.7 but in 2008 it went up 0.1 liter because of changes here and there, that's y u c people on this page writing 4.8 and 4.7, which both are right because we are on the same page. Some people , i'm guessing like you, don't know anything about that change, but it happened. I'm not being rude, just stressing a point.
I think that is a 4.3 because I had a truck just like it but pewter and it had a 4.3 in it.

well i belive the work trim includes a towing thing so im pretty sure its the 5.3 V8
@stopscrewingaround11 This truck is for work, not play :D I bet the other gauges you have are oil pressure and battery voltage.
@TJC450 I can attest to that. The power window motors in my '94 Isuzu Rodeo are kinda crappy. I wish I had the old fashioned crank windows.

@toyota4life94 Holly crap, god why is it every comment I make now is at you, lol. But you can have the 4.3-6.6 dmax in the work trim. (2500 w/t for the dmax) But this is most definately the 4.8 vortec. The 4.3 has a different intake then the v8s. And @ 1:29 that is definately a vortec v8 soundtrack, not a 4.3! lol. But the 4.3 is the base motor for all But the LTZ Silverado 1500s I believe.
I think these{07- current} a decent trucks. but I like the pre-07 way better. I like the body style more,think they have better interiors are sturdier and have better build quality then these.
The engine looks about the same as the one in my 07 denali. I think its a 5.6L with 385hp. But who knows. Its gm. Im sure there is a wide variety if trims and engine sizes

@martonium yeah also they took the rear cup-holders {on the door} away, my 01 W/T has rear disk brakes,hood light message center, a full cover for the power outlets,ashtray, dull zone climate controls and tow hitch with full power hookup{this one just has the hitch}. I guess GM figured since these are work trucks they didn't need any of these things. definitely a downgrade form the pervious trucks IMO.

There’s no 4.3 v8. There is a 4.8 v8 or 4.3 v6
It's a 4.8 listen to the exhaust. It's definitely not v6.
