- Bowfishing during the spawn at Utah Lake! We were using a homemade PVC Korean Horse Bow with the Cajun drum reel, and the 2020 Muzzy LVX. We mostly waded but also shot off the kayak a little. Made the PVC pipe bow over the oven element to shape it. It's 48 inches long, and about a 40lbs draw weight.

Check out this insane carp spawn bowfishing video from the same spot th-cam.com/video/eGFcgopLifg/w-d-xo.html
You guys gave me 30-40 carp for bear bait. Worked great!!! Had several bears hitting the bait. And hunter harvested a bear on 5th day. Thank you
Awesome! Thank you for finding my videos and updating me on the hunt, that's super cool! I'll have to let my dad know as well. Congrats on the bear!
@@shandonbradfordoutdoors going to be helping on another bear hunt. Going to need more carp around the 28th. You going to be back there this year?
@@natehansen9222 Yup! We can definitely help with that. Email me shandonbradfordoutdoors@gmail.com
@@natehansen9222 Planning to go out on the 19th.
Email me if you can shandonbradfordoutdoors@gmail.com
Nice work! Im looking forward to getting a few of these through the ice soon!
Thanks. Ya I'll have to give that a try this year!
I’m about to get my first rig and can’t wait! I’ve been interested in this for years. What do you do with the carp after shooting them?
Heck ya man, you'll love it! It's a blast. In the state of Utah you can just discard the carp back into the water. You can't throw them on the banks. Some people use them for bear bait, and for the gardens as well. I think most states allow you to throw them back into the water after killing them but you'll need to double check that if you're not from Utah. Be sure to check out my other videos! This vid was one of the very first ones I uploaded so it's not the best truthful😂
Great shooting!
Thanks! This years spawn has been even better!
Nice shootin! Thanks for cleaning up the lake
You'll have to come Bowfishing with me sometime
Im impressed with the pvc bow
It works pretty good! I love how light it is, makes it easy to handle
@@shandonbradfordoutdoors have u got a diy on the build?
I don't but I just followed this video to make mine. I flattened the tips of my bow with 2 cutting boards though which ge doesn't do in the video. th-cam.com/video/ahPK7coHVXQ/w-d-xo.html
With the left over PVC I then cut a 5 inch piece in half from top to bottom, and drilled a hole in it to attach my reel. I then glued (rubber cement) and lashed the reel on with electrical tape. Don't drill a hole in the bow, it will eventually collapse on you
Awesome. Love the homemade bow.
Nice! I've never had any luck there... either never any visible fish, or they run as soon as they see me.
Where they spawn is different every year according to water levels there too. If you go in the 2nd week of May tho that should be peak spawn and you'll definitely see them! Some areas around there I bowfish for them year round tho! Good spots over there
top fishing congratulations
Thanks!
What part of Utah lake is this?
Mill race, East bay
The lvx looks like it may need tuned seams canted to the right
Ya it is, I've tightened down the left side strings, and loosened the right side but can't seem to get to to go back. Any suggestions?
Nice 👍👍👍💖
What do you do with them?
Most just get wacked on the head and thrown back in the water. Some go to bear hunters that use them as bait
Nice catch my friend new here
Thanks! New to the channel, or new to Utah?
Have you tried carp?
Eating wise? Yes I have, they're definitely not good fried!👎
@@shandonbradfordoutdoors i think i had it as a child, don't remember the taste...new sub. I enjoy your vids
@@Vannguyen_69 I've heard it's good smoked, but haven't tried it myself yet. Next time I try one tho I think I'll smoke it. Thanks for the support!
Do you sell these pvc bows ?
I use to at carnivals/fair days, but haven't in awhile
Awesome. I'm surprised they allow it with endangered june suckers in there.
Its easy enough to tell the difference between the 2 species.
What you do with all those carp lol
Wack them in the head and just throw them back in the water. It's the easiest way, and legal.
What do you do with the carp ?
Wack them on the head and throw them back in the water. Carp make game fish spawns less effective, and are over populated, so most states don't have a disposal law on them. It's important to throw them back in the water tho and not on shore! Throwing them on shore smells the whole place up.
@@shandonbradfordoutdoors LOL 😆 poor carp but it is what it is
I think Utah now has a law that requires you to take any fish you kill with you and not just leave them. Sadly
@@danielenright4174 No that's not true, you can find all that in the Utah fishing guidebook. There's no disposal laws on carp and a bunch of other species at certain water bodies
I prefer the line, it's less brutal.
What line?
@@shandonbradfordoutdoors A hook tied to a fishing pole.
@@alexnoussi1146 Oh I get you. Regular fishing is fun too!
where are you fishing dear
Utah lake, UT
O yes

You gonna eat that?
No, I've tried them before and they're not the best!
@@shandonbradfordoutdoors Ok then let them do their job with nature and leave them alone!!
@@johnsurf509 They destroy other game species spawn, basically killing every other species off. They're over populated. They make all bodies of water dirty and turbid. I know them better than you ever will, and have a much greater appreciate for them than you ever will.
