With regards to pinning up one side of the brim, the reason has very little to do with kangaroos and more to do with the practical life of a soldier... back in the old days when slouch hats were first adopted into the uniform, it was quite common for soldiers to march with their rifles slung over their left shoulders, pinning up the brim kept it out of the way so that the rifle would not knock the hat and cause it to fall off or twist at an awkward angle. Folding the brim like that also has the benefit of stiffening it which is a massive help in windy conditions as it prevents the front of the brim from being blown down over your eyes. Pathfinder having his hat brim clipped on the right hand side would probably facilitate the use of a shoulder-fired rocket launcher as well. The US version didn't come equipped with one, but the UK version did.
Being in landscaping myself, that weed eater scares the crap out of me! We use straigjt shaft ones like that, but they are a bit longer. The colors kind of make sense in that it seems Pathfinder's real job is to clear out areas for other Joe's to get through, so you would want that safety orange in there for visibility. I personally would have given him a removable helmet with a shield to cover his whole face. I get blasted in the face regularly just weed eating lawns! Couldn't imagine what would come flying up at you in a jungle! Plus, where's the hearing protection here?!? He has 2 machine guns and a weed eater! Safety first Joe's!lol
Thanks for the awesome review on the Pathfinder action figure. I acquired one of this in the same condition as the one in the video, from a guy that was selling his collection on Facebook. I saw that there were 4 more guys asking him for it, but I made a deal with the man and snatched it quick. Btw, thanks to you, now I understand how all the weapons are placed on my Pathfinder. Lol
I think they sort of missed the boat on Pathfinder. They should have p[laced him in the traditional role of an actual Army pathfinder: a guy who is inserted ahead of the main assault force to establish landing zones/ drop zones for incoming troops. That said, he's kind of a mediocre figure. The weed wacker certainly is interesting, but the hip mounted guns just don't do anything for me. I don't care for his color scheme either. I really do like the head sculpt though. Even with the sunglasses, he's got a lot of personality. Another great review, Kevin.
When can we get the hammer review that antenna took me years to find and it's so fragile it makes the hammer a rare piece to have complete plus it is one of the better vehicles from the 90's great review
In my collection Gung=Ho and Pathfinder look good together, team them with Muskrat all riding the Mudbuster. Airborne also looks good because of the blue green vest
recondo was a good character & used in a few marvel comics stories. The politics & geo-political issues of the 80s were in central/south America a lot. jungle & tropics troopers saw a lot of duty in that period.
stalker was in macvsog in se Asia. he later was a E7 & a "artic combat" expert. like recondo, hawk deployed stalker to Latin America & south America often.
Does anybody know how to keep your GI JOE action figures looking shiny and in impeccable condition? Any info will be appreciated. I have a decent collection of these action figures. I've changed the O rings and replaced rusty screws with new ones. All I need is to clean them to make them look as if they were new.
OR you can put Pathfinder with the Bazooka reissue and make them fishing partners. Get them a scale pick up and fishing boat from Wal-Mart... I think I just might do this LMAO
