Neck posture needs to stay straight up and neutral. The face needs to look relaxed and confident. Breathing needs to appear easy and relaxed. Bods about there. Now make it look natural and easy Sam.
I'm 220 pounds at the moment. I started my weight loss journey at 308 a couple months ago. My goal is to see what I look like at 200. I've really worked on repairing the disordered eating that got me as big as I am, while still allowing myself a piece of cheese cake or a cupcake here and there. I've been notoriously over restrictive to myself in past, trading out one form of disordered eating for another, overindulgent to over restrictive. I'm not the lowest body weight I've ever been as an adult, but I for sure feel the strongest and most confident. The only meal I followed these last months is meal plan from website OnlyMeal which is so flexible with ingredients. Like I can always swap rice with pasta, chicken with beef... That is a game changer
I'm 38. I started lifting when I was 14. I generally do a lot of light work first to wear myself out a little bit and then pyramid up in weight. The fatigue i get from all the work leading up to my top sets on my pyramid makes it so I don't lift super heavy. That way I have a built in failsafe against my ego and don't get hurt anymore. Also keep going Sam! I started watching because of everyone saying how dangerous of an example you are. I watched and thought the exact opposite. You're exactly what other young men need to see. You're the type of guy anyone would want to lift with.
How I train, I try and follow Dorian Yates logic. I do two warm up sites increasing in weight and then my final set of max weight to failure aiming for 8reps to max (light, medium, heavy)
@crow2967 that's a solid method. I did stuff like that when I was younger. As I have gotten older, it takes more to get everything warmed up. I used to start with main exercises like bench, squat etc. Now I start with lots of less intense ones. But yeah if what you're doing is working then don't stop doing it. We're all different. Do you feel you get enough volume.
For 2025: Age 51 do a 5-day Bro split w/ 2 days rest - chest, back, legs, arms, shoulders (with cardio on rest days). Inspired by Mentzer & Sulek (sounds like a law firm) I've decided to implement what I call 10:45 workouts. Limit myself to 10 hard sets to failure (moderate weights) and 45 mins. of cardio per workout. All while trying to main-gain diet wise. Also plenty of hydration and sleep. All alcohol has been eliminated.
@@CodyBunker absolutely, I used to train loads of volume and doing drop sets and all sorts. But now with chest as an example I’ll do incline, flat, flyes and dips. Which is probably overkill in itself. But take each exercise to failure.
About the snow and evening/night brightness. Ues, it is very much so: when there is snow, things gets brighter. Both day and evening/night. Talking as someone from northern part of the World (Estonia, Europe). Glad you figured that out, Sam. As someone with ingeneur education and having capabilites of thinking logically, expected nothing else/less from you. You are getting (already being) in a bretty shreded state. My humble suggestion is: be careful in order not to push it too far, as far (if) you are not aiming to compete any time soon. And addition to that, don’t get hurt when lifting (heavy and/or relatively light) Stay strong and healthy (most important)! Raimo Estonia, Europe
Thanks for the car talks! I went from 130 to 117. I feel great and have never looked better. I began cooking my own meals and learning about nutrition. Entering 2025 ready to create an even bigger change Edit: yes it’s lbs I am a 5’2 woman
Sam idk if you’ll see this but, you don’t know how much inspiration you have made for the younger guys in the gym. I know I may not get as big as you but I have reduced my fat content and increased my muscle mass from being inspired from you. And don’t worry I do my cardio! (14m currently 197lbs started at 225lbs 5,7ft)
Sam's I really like your videos every day after I come from gyn and eating I always always watch them ! Thanks even if there is less support keeo it in your heart that I really support your videos and I really appreciate them ! ❤
I was having a lot of trouble developing my pecs until I tried the dumbells with the weight I could do a really big stretch and pause at the bottom, if you're having the same problems, try it out. Been doing 6-8 sets, incredible change in my body in literally 2 weeks
Getting back in the groove, it’s hard as hell especially working 14 12s and then trying to squeeze in a workout, I usually wake up around 3:30 and hit the gym ab 4 until 5 and get to work ab 6, and you talk ab exhausting
Love the advice on the no carb buns/tortillas. Yes, kind of a dieting hack to lose some weight, but low carbs/high fiber can be a slippery slope in terms of energy.
im on a weight loss journey at the moment, 10kg down in 5 weeks and building muscle, i just freestyle it, hit the gym every 3 days, train different groups each time (chest and back, arms and shoulders then legs) on rotation and a different movement each time (if last time i did push, would do pull etc), really been enjoying your content mate, cheers for the motivation 🤙
You’re not losing 2lbs a week and building muscle. You’re probably seeing whatever muscle is there. You need a calorie surplus to build muscle and you won’t lose weight with a calorie surplus.
Sam just said he's envious of me and I just play Hearthstone on a stationary bike, don't even notice that part of my workout, actually kinda looking forward to it after the pump. Like he said. Do the cardio guys, it's not that hard and the payoffs are great.
Dude, I live in Sweden and it gets dark at like 15:30 now in january. And with dark I mean pitch black. It does something to the body, no doubt. I hate it.
1:01 I felt it man here in Reno NV the snow used to be like 5-8ft just in my driveway!!! Now it’s only snowed maybe 2 times this year and its melted by the next day
Hey Sam, I remember you were saying you don’t really film the beginning of your warm-ups on chest day. But if you do it once to show everybody what you do to stay healthy in your shoulders and feeling good when pressing just one time I think it would go viral on TikTok and also it would help us to stay healthy as well just to kind of see what you dowhen warming up for chest because a lot of us older lifters have banged up shoulders or just have had past injuries, thank you
That’s why Oregon is so hard. we’re in the western part of our time zone north of the 45th parallel and we don’t get snow on the ground except on the mountains so it’s dark as hell and dark at 4:30
Sam, my workout split has been alot like yours for years now, 4 day split, no days off. This off season I'm adding in 2 rest days into my split. I wanna see if I actually grow more w/ or w/o rest days. Have you thought about adding in a couple rest days?
Mechanical tension is the only thing that builds muscle, but set of 15 can produce just as much mechanical tension as set of 5 the difference is how much junk reps you have in the set that do nothing other than create fatigue.
You're always asking for feedback so here goes. I'd like to see 4 days of workouts without your pump cover on so that i can get a better idea of the mechanics you are employing. I would like to see a full day of eat AND supplements - when and what do you take, don't need brands, just substances (non-pharma obviously). How are you going about choosing a posing pouch for the show? :-D That's probably something you want to give yourself a LOT of lead time to sort out btw. Are you planning on any coaching in the final weeks of prep or maybe between the local show you do and whatever you do next on a full bulk/cut cycle?
bro, sam sulek e muito massa namoral, a sensassao que ele transmite a vibe e muito boa kkk, gosto mt dos videos dele, bem originais kkkkk, uma vibe tao boa e tranquila :) treino muito bom
How often do you train your midsection? Your abs are somewhat underdeveloped with no so much impressive separation.. Look at Jay how deep abs he had. He was training them all the time...
Had a slip up today on my diet and drank some beers… I feel horrible and I will be back on track tomorrow. Just feel like my progress is gone for just 1 day of being bad… I’ll be back on track tomorrow for sure Sam… don’t hurt me
How long are you taking inbetween sets to rest? Recently I feel like I’m taking to long but then at times I feel like I need more time. Also struggle with feeling guilty if I’m on a wanted machine while resting in a crowded gym. I’m more than welcome to work in with anybody but I don’t want to interrupt others either. Anyways - thanks Sam!
is this a private gym? the lack of background noise and people is almost uncanny to me, but the aesthetic is nice. would love to see you in a fully decked out home or warehouse gym in the future full of all the dumbbells, plates, and machines you could need
Nice to see Sam clearly practicing his breathing control during posing, Jay Cutler's advice paying off!
Neck posture needs to stay straight up and neutral. The face needs to look relaxed and confident. Breathing needs to appear easy and relaxed. Bods about there. Now make it look natural and easy Sam.
