I get so mad when someone says that. The government IS NOT A BUSINESS. Businesses' reason for being is to make a profit by producing something, and make bigger profit by cutting costs to the bone. Government isn't supposed to make a profit, and not supposed to cut costs to the bone. They are supposed to support the general welfare of citizens, so are more like a family budget. Therefore, the more "businessmen" we have in government, the worse off we are.

The rich and people in Congress should be paying their fair share in taxes, and at the same time, what they use all the tax money for should all be made entirely public (and no hidden money being put back into their own pockets or have weckless spending). We need to totally obliterate the concept of “trickle down” economics. Instead, we should call it “rising tide” economics. When the rich pay their fair share and the less wealthy receive economic relief, greater wealth, better infrastructure, true universal health care (free with no co-pays, etc.), free education, etc., the rich will see even MORE wealth. We’ll have way more purchase power and will invest more in their products. When the tide rises, all boats float and the larger ones get greater depth in areas where they used to run a ground.

WHY are there backlogs with IRS tax collections? Very simple… Republicans have repeatedly defunded the IRS over the last few decades. Now, they are lying to the public telling them that the 87,000+ new employees are coming after average taxpayers when in reality 77,000+ are actually replacing mandatory retirements and the other 10,000+ are to keep up with the ever increasing workload created by population growth and the overload of cases to work. The RS was pressured to process as many cases as possible to appear more productive. In doing so, it was easily determined that pursuing “the little guy“ was a lot easier because “the little guy“ did not have the resources to fight IRS taxation compared to big corporations and rich people with their slick accountants and attorneys.
Republicans do not want a functional IRS at all… They feel bad if they tell me that the crime, and got away with all the profits screwing all the employees that they should get to keep their justly stolen profits. I don’t think so.
Government should be working to support the people not the people working hard to support a selective government tax system benefiting the wealthy and corporations who need more money the least.

The rich who pay zero now have to pay no deductions, the middle class pays 5 to 10% less than they pay now, low income $12,000 and under pay 10% because they do consume too. Sadly it won't make a difference. It won't be spent on the pay down of the deficit. It will be scafted up by some greedy politicians. There all out of control and no accountability.

I agree people need to pay taxes if the laws says they owe it. One must obey the laws.
What I do not agree with is the rates and the way the code favors the anybody!
The tax code is a mess that have a million holes otherwise called incentives.
What they really are is exceptions for various reasons.
Not anywhere near being wealthy and paid nearly $20,000 to your buddies in the IRS.
I hope the Feds soend it wisely cause that could have been put to good use here at my house.
They won't of course but it is what it is.
We work and pay the Feds take our money and they decide who gets it.
Gates will get some of it for sure.

I think only corporations should pay taxes from now on and multi billionaires should fork over 1 billion a piece and that will pay for every American to get $200,000 a year

I believe we should eliminate tax return processing for individuals and families making less than $200K and just return their tax refunds automatically, based on AI data processing.
Individuals could simply submit corrections and adjustments requests.
Then move the IRS staff to thoroughly investigate all small businesses and corporations. There are many corrupt small businesses, as well.
