One of my cats, Momo,took an immediate liking to hiding under the bathroom sink. The cupboard door opens easily, so he just crawls in there whenever he's feeling scared or needs some time alone. So to facilitate his little hideaway, I don't store chemicals down there and I added a cardboard box and blanket in the corner for cozy snoozes.

My one cat loved to play on the stairs.
He would lay on the second to top step and I would throw a toy up to him. He would either bat it back to me or have to swat it off the step back to me.
I would ask, "Wanna play stairs?" He would run to the top step and put his head down...Ready! Go! 😂
He was a Bombay. Got him from the shelter. Very Cool Cat 😎
I bought a pet stroller just in case we had to evacuate for a hurricane. in September we had to go to a shelter for three days due to hurricane Ian. When we got home the stroller went into the closet for storage. My two furries began pulling at the closet door till I let them inside. This was not normal behavior for either of them. They both wanted to get into the stroller to hide. Months later we have all recovered and the closet is propped open and they take turns sleeping in the stroller. Don't know why but if they like it they will always be able to get in it.

Lots of windows with no restrictions or with curtains fanned out over bookcases. Loves to go under covers of bed when Katie wants to be alone.
My kitty took more interest in his cat tree when I moved it into the lounge and near the window with a nice view of trees and birds.

Very true and good good advice. Two cats are always best. They keep each other company. Siblings are best, if can.

My cats don’t want their own toys, my things are much more fun ! Most of my ornaments are chipped and can be found often on the floor.
Suggestion: Replace some of your nic-nac space with their toys so the room feels 50% theirs.
