Where I live in Virginia, we also have Swallowtail butterflies. They come in a few basic varieties; Yellow w/black lines, sometimes with a blue ''eye'' on the lower wing; and the beautiful black and electric blue swallowtails. Oh, and there is the Zebra Swallowtail. Have a look at that family of butterflies. I'm sure they will give you lots of beautiful inspiration Kirsty. I always enjoy your beautiful hand painted designs. Thanks to Adam for all the wonder commentary and filming and edit work.
I absolutely love elephant hawk moths. They are so beautiful (I’ve designed a set of nails on them before) people usually associate moths being boring and the butterflies beautiful. But folks! If you’ve never seen an elephant hawk moth! You’ll be surprised how beautiful they are. Great video ❤️
When I lived in Eastern KY, we used to get huge moths that were drawn to the front porch lights at night. They were the prettiest pastel blues and greens!
@@Nails_By_Kimberlee I live in ky and yes they are all over my front and back porch at night. I've not seen the big light green moths in a few years which is sad they are so beautiful.
@@michellebramble7678 I live back in my home county now which is in northern-central ky and we don't get those big moths up here, not that I've seen anyway. We just get the plain small ones that sneak in at night and bug the 💩 out of you lol
So in America we say if you see a monarch that means someone you loved that has passed has come to visit you. So I have one tattooed on me for my Dad. I started seeing them all the time after he passes.
@@misstoasty1 my family and many friends believe it’s a monarch. I have a the same for robins as well. Whatever makes you feel happy about a lost loved one right
Thank you Kirsty and team for putting out inspiring and informative videos. I only do nail art for my self, but I have loved learning and seeing all these techniques that I can play with at home. Beautiful work as always.
These beautiful ancient critters are endangered, in the U.S a lot of us gardeners are scrambling to encourage them! this video is such a fun way to get attention for our beautiful monarch friends ✨😻✨
You truly are an artist and are so inspiring to anyone that does nails. I love to do them on myself and have always been an artistic person but when drawing on such a small scale can be so hard sometimes. I love your videos like this! You are such a great teacher!!!!!🦋💜🤗
Kirsty, you have no idea how important this one is. I've been wearing a Monarch on one nail for 8 years now, I re paint her about once a month or so. I love your version.
Gorgeous!! Monarchs are so beautiful! They migrate in the US and there is a place in California called Pismo Beach where you can literally see thousands of Monarchs in one place. It’s phenomenal!! My favorite butterfly!
Dear Kirstie, I watched your monarch butterfly video the other day. Today I was driving in my driveway and a beautiful swallow tail butterfly flew past me! Haven't seen one of these in awhile. Thank you for bringing the beautiful butterflies to life and real life! Have a great weekend! Can't wait for the your next video!!!
Beautiful Kirsty. One thing that struck me is the placing of the butterfly is lovely. Just one wing popping off the edge, so it can be a more close up view. That's why you're the best. 🤩
Just after I finished watching the video I tried to draw, I am so thankful, not as good as your's, but i will keep trying. I'm an amateur and just doing nails for myself and few of my friends, thank you so much for all the knowledge! ❤️
Monarchs have a complex migratory system. They over winter in Mexico, and then it take 3-4 generations for them to migrate north. These butterflies live 2-6 weeks. The ones that migrate all the way back to Mexico live the longest - 6-9 months. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent. Take care Kirsty and Adam.
You are such an amazing artist, Kirsty. I aspire to have just a fraction of your talent. I love how you did the three different levels. All are beautiful, and it does show that you can still produce something pretty without taking too much time. It also gives the client a choice, that way they (rather than myself) can decide how much they are willing to pay for their nail art. Well done! Again!! 🥰
Beautiful they all three beautiful. 😍 The butterflies are so beautiful but what they eat is not it's poo and pee. I watch a documentary on them that's how I found out. Thank you for sharing all you do it's so helpful. Thank you Adam for all you do videos are amazing. 💖💖💖🤗
Here in many parts of the usa, monarchs were recently placed on the endangered list sadly. These are beautiful very close to a female monarch...nicely done
I'm raising monarch caterpillars in my house. They ONLY eat milkweed... Which is one of the reasons that their populations are so dramatically diminished in the US. Habitat destruction removes the milkweed and pesticides kill the caterpillars. In the wild a monarch caterpillar has a 3% chance of survival into adulthood but if you raise them indoors and then release them into the wild after they come out of their chrysalis their survival goes up to around 90%. So, everyone plant some milkweed in your garden to help the pollinators. I also raise black swallowtail caterpillars into butterflies. They eat dill, fennel, parsley, and carrot tops. Black swallowtails would make beautiful nail art!
I haven't finished the video but wanted to let my geek flag fly 🤓. I think a reason the caterpillar has two sets of antennae (I think they're actually called tentacles) is to help confuse its predators as to which end is actually the head and to sense its surroundings bc they really can't see that well.
The extra antenna on the caterpillar's bum are for if a bird attacks the caterpillar it instinctively goes for its head. So some caterpillars have longer fake antenna on their bums so that the bird attacks it's bum thinking it's the head. If the caterpillar gets away I think they can survive a bite on the bum easier than one to the head... so it's to defend the caterpillar and to confuse, scare predators.
Have you ever done Queen nails? I don't mean as in The Queen, I mean as in Freddie Mercury. Imagine the greatest vocalist of all time made into nail art by the greatest nail tech of all time.
This video got me curious so I had to go look up Monarch butterflies and learn a little about them. A group of them is called a "Flutter", which I thought was cute af lol. And sadly, they recently were classified as endangered. Their population has declined as much as 90% over the last few decades (source is PBS) due to climate change causing habitat destruction and the use of pesticides which kills their host plant, milkweed. They're pollinators so we need them. 🦋🧡🖤🤍
I would be happy with anyone of theses beautiful butterflies. You are so talented and creative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
