Another CLASSIC by the group......and as with every hit this group had it was ALL TEDDY......basically the group were background singers for Teddy.....Teddy finally realized that and went solo and Harold & Bluenotes were left in the dust never to heard from again.....great reaction

That's an organ that's giving you church vibes.

What you're hearing is organ, which was a staple in jazz and r&b from the 50s to the 80s. It was replaced by electric piano and synthesizers. That Philly Sound was everything! Gamble & Huff were absolute geniuses!

Before his tragic accident. Teddy was about to be a gigantic star. Crossover. His voice was so damn powerful

What was giving you the church vibes was an organ. A number of artists back then used an organ, that includes Sly & the Family Stone, Billy Preston, Al Green, some other soul artists and MFSB used it for some the artist at Philly Soul. This was a hot song in the '70's. Thanks JJ. 👍🏾

You mean the organ gives you the church vibe. I was just a kid when this group was hitting its prime, but I still loved the songs and the music. I’ve always been a romantic at ♥️. Top notch production, produces top notch performances!

Again....those that have never gone thru a break up and deep heartbreak can't relate. Where for a time afterwards you feel like you will never make yourself vulnerable to be hurt from "loving again"....but then eventually you get over it and like the Teddy cut after leaving the group and going solo.."It Don't Hurt Now".....

If you haven't done "You know how to make me feel so good", that's a trio including Teddy and a female vocalist, I forget her name. Dope. Runs off the same track as "Diamond in the Back", another classic.

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes with *M.F.S.B.* Believe the piano player is Tyrone Kersey, who also wrote "Disco Inferno" for *The Trammps.*

The other day you played MFSB.....the Philly sound.....i dont think you react to much Philly music from back in the day.....Philly sound was just as big as Motown and NYC sound along with other cities.... So much so that other artists left their labels to get that Philly influence.....some of the biggest Motown artists switched to the Philly sound.....the biggest act being The Jacksons......i just think a lot of our music is being forgotten about and needs be featured more..... Here are a list of Philly acts with a HUGE catalog of music to explore
    Blue Magic
    Barbara Mason
    Billy Paul
    Ojays
    The Delfonics
    Eddie Holman
    Billy Stewart
    The Intruders
    The Moments
    Three Degrees
    Black Ivory
    Brighter Side Of Darkness
    First Choice
    Spinners
    Stylistics

Harold Melvin pftt !! Nothing but a cheating, lying snake !!! Plus he couldn't sing !!! Teddy Pendergrass made this group and got very little in return, so glad he left and went solo ❤️

Of course Teddy was the VOICE in this group. What a distinctive voice that man had. So handsome too😍. And JJ the "church piano" you hear is an organ.
