Vegeta didn't have many options. 18 wasn't engaging and he had to push the issue. His only other "option" was to back off. But he's a Saiyan, he's not doing that! Like you said maybe if he went absolutely nuts in those moments where he had her then maybe. But it's tough. No scouter obviously and couldn't sense her energy. I think trunks might win, I haven’t seen the anime in a minute but I think this is before piccolo absorbed Kami ,and even with the three years of training and trunks was training too right? But maybe piccolo wins🤷♂️
Yeah I cant blame Trunks for lacking though. Hes like what? A teenager or in his early 20s at best when he gets here. All of the best fighters were gone and there was only Future Gohan who is disciplined but doesnt have the same level of instruction his main counterpart has. Plus he only trained Trunks for a few years I honestly think its less than a year before Gohan got killed. Trunks pretty much had to figure out a lot of this on his own and despite being in a brutal environment. Its doesnt produce the same results as Vegeta's environment since he is self taught as well.
@@THENemesisXX99only thing that has confirmed amount of time trunks had before he went back in time for the 2nd time was kakarot which if I’m remembering correctly was like a couple of months making him 17/18(if his birthday passed) but yeah future gohan told him (in the manga) that trunks could surpass him with a couple of months (trunks had ssj in the manga pre gohan death) with gohan being gone having no one to train or being properly trained potentially stunted his growth
This is definitely Android 18's best fight in the series. Not only was she clearly stronger than Vegeta at this point, but she fought smart against him, especially since Vegeta is a fighting genius with more experience than her. This was a humiliating moment for Vegeta because he finally became a super saiyan, quite possibly surpassing Goku and being the strongest of the Z-Fighters, only to be legitimately defeated by Android 18. She legitimately made super saiyans obsolete. Worst of all, 18 was the weakest of the Android trio consisting of herself, 17, and especially 16. So, Vegeta being the strongest known saiyan at this point had 3 people stronger than him. It was a major blow to Vegeta's ego, especially when Future Trunks warned him about the strength of the androids. Not to mention that the present androids were stronger than the future androids. This is still my favorite fight of Android 18, and she deserved the win for humbling Vegeta.
It is too bad that Android 18 never gets a chance to have many fights in the DB series. I guess I understand, 18 is written to not enjoy fighting so obviously does not train much. She could have been almost as strong as her brother Android 17 if she liked fighting like he did.
The andriods were not actually "stronger" than their past self. They only appear stronger because they actually had to use more strength than their past selfs due to the future versions of the Z fighters being confirmed weaker than their present versions. There are a lot of videos breaking down the androids strength and even debunks Trunks' claim of them seeming stronger. Very interesting stuff. The androids were monsters

Dude me and my son found this channel and it is some crazy stuff. You're the man and these videos are great. He is so into dragon ball now. He loves your training arc video on goku and krillin. Much love dude.
I like this fight because it showcases how much Super Saiyan clouds the judgement of the Saiyans (especially Vegeta) which leads up the training arc of Goku and Gohan mastering the state so they can be calm while in it (also looking forward to you covering every fight involving Cell) I feel the second he got headbutted that's when he lost the mental game and started trying to show off instead of trying to finish the fight quickly for the best chance of winning
Exactly! It ties things together nicely. I think it's sometimes easily forgotten in the story that SSJ warped people considerably, even Goku became intent on taking Frieza apart like a insect until he reigned himself in. Vegeta thought he could take 18 and *anything* Cell threw at him because he trained everything but his fundamental issues. Vegeta wasn't able to overcome his own ego until it was much too late. Gohan, despite fully mastering SSJ, got completely drunk on the next stage up. Reflecting nicely that without proper discipline, it's so easy to get drunk off one's own power and cruelty. The stronger the Super Sayian, the more sayian like they become. I feel 18 was clearly the superior fighter the entire time, but unlike Vegeta she didn't seem interested in just brawling him out but was just looking to disect him in the most clinical way possible. She likely could've gone all out from the start but everything seemed to be about managing the risks as efficiently as possible. This in contrast to the later fight with 17 Piccolo amped the Android to brawl the entire time and got him really amped about the experience.
Not necessarily. The ego and wanting to test limits against strong opponents is just a Saiyan thing in general. Even before SSJ was introduced Goku and Vegeta had that issue. Vegeta just wanted to show off how powerful he was after becoming a Super Saiyan but the same thing happened with Frieza even though he wasn't a Super Saiyan then. Goku was also prone to doing dumb things when angered. Back in OG Dragonball after Krillin was killed Goku ran off to avenge him despite still be worn out from his fight with Tien. Ironically Goku went back to his old ways when he let Frieza power up to 100% just to see how powerful he was.
Your attention to detail with showing not just the fighter’s precision strikes and techniques, but also their characteristics that emphasizes the SELL of the fights. You COOKED~! 🔥
Most of the DBZ fans will say their favorite battle is Goku vs. Frieza, Goku vs. Vegeta, or Gohan vs. Cell, etc., but Vegeta vs. Android 18 was and still is my ABSOLUTE favorite battle in the entire series. There is something so delicate and mysterious about the android characters and the fact that Vegeta gets cooked in the process was both stunning and weirdly satisfying to watch. 30 years later, for you to make such articulate, detailed analysis on literally every single move that Android 18 and Vegeta made me feel like I am revisiting this scene as a little kid from a totally different angle. This was absolutely amazing to watch. Liked and subscribed and looking forwardd to more amazing DBZ battle analysis. 👍👍👍
Huge fan of this channel, pace yourself and keep grinding out these top notch analysis; the way you mix in humor reminds me of Codenamesuper but it doesn’t feel like a copycat, you have your own twist on it, keep it going 🔥😎
I didn't know I needed this content in my life until I found you, that was SO entertaining, so well put together and above all surprisingly analytical. I have my doubts the DBZ animators put as much thought into creating these sequences as you did analyzing them, but that only goes to highlight how amazing you are at your craft. I also gotta say Android 18 is SUCH an underrated fighter in the series. She is so tactical and quick-witted. Unlike her brother who was completely impulsive, reckless and blinded by his own ego during the Android saga, she had her head in the game and knew exactly how to read her opponents and take advantage of her perceptive skills. Her fight against Vegeta proved how smart of a fighter she was, but later on she had other instances of having to think on her feet when she quickly realized she couldn't defeat 2nd form Cell and came up with a solution on the spot to bluff about detonating the bomb inside her in order to stop him, for instance. Or during the Buu saga when she quickly came up with a tactic to defeat Goten and Trunks during the World Tournament when she found out who they were, knowing very well it would be way too risky taking on two SSJ Saiyans at once and deciding to end the match while she still had the upper hand. It really is a shame she was completely sidelined after that. But anyway, great content man, insta subbed! 😄
Holly shit this video is amazing. The detailed break down, fun jokes, good pace, but most importantly it elevates the source material. A lot of content creators making media commentary could learn a thing or 2 from you. Great job!
These fight analysis videos are really cool, revealing that there's a lot more detail to DBZ choreography than I thought and plenty of tactical depth. I wonder what we'd see in an analysis of Vegeta's fights with Zarbon, particularly the first.
First of your videos I've seen. I'm blown away, not just by the level of detail with which you were able to analyze the fight at the frame/cel level, but also the apparent level of detail the animators took in animating the fight. I've never looked this closely at DBZ fights. I also appreciate the references to other fights like the future showdown between Piccolo and 17.
Wow that was cool. I'm a huge DB fan and I've still never realized how detailed the rapid exchanges were actually animated. What a nice concept for your channel. Subbed.
Watching this video felt like watching someone who knew how to fight against someone who knew how to attack, 18 simply handled Vegeta like a toddler having a tantrum. Great showcase of these fights and analysis.

8:38 Krillin is being the only rational person there, anyone without blond hair is NOT gonna matter in a fight like this and Piccolo and Tien jumping in after Trunks was just plain stupidity on their parts...
I disagree that Trunks was being naive when he figured Vegeta could keep up with 18. In the TV special, both he and Gohan would only manage to get 2 or 3 good hits in before getting overwhelmed. So he was in good reason to be surprised at Vegeta's performance.
I’ll say this. I didn’t have a true appreciation of how much fight choreography went into the direction and animation for this series until I found your channel breaking it down frame by frame like this. It’s legit helped me see the series in a whole new light and deepened my appreciation for the original run.
I think this fight really highlights Vegeta's biggest flaw: arrogance. Whenever he gets those big power boosts he likes to play with his food. You are right that Namek Saga Vegeta would have put pressure on 18 nonstop. And I think it's important in context. From Vegeta's POV SSJ's are undefeated. Goku crushed Freiza (the strongest fighter in the galaxy). Then Trunks rolled up and bodied both Frieza and his dad. While Goku lost to 19, Vegeta would assume it was due to the virus. Then Vegeta absolutely crushes 19. Sure, he's aware that Trunks can't beat the Androids in the future and everyone died to them, but that Vegeta wasn't a SSJ, and honestly, Trunks has awful Battle IQ. Vegeta probably thinks Trunks is wrong or exaggerating. And we'll see this flaw play out again with Cell. Because the reality, Vegeta (and the other SSJ's) don't have good chances to explore the limits of their power. The Androids (and Cell) represent an amazing opportunity for Vegeta, just limit the serious number of zenkai boosts he got between Earth and Namek. In answer to your question, Piccolo at this point is at a weird power level. We know he's at least on par with 19/20 because he had his fight with Gero and was doing quiet well with his runback. And we know that SSJ's are stronger than 19/20. So Trunks and Piccolo at this point would be a good matchup. I'd give it to Piccolo for his Battle IQ.
And keep in mind even IF we had Namek Vegeta 18 still was stronger than him and had infinte energy. Remember, Piccolo had to fuse with Kami to make him match *17* meaning 16 was STILL stronger.
One thing I love most about this not only being a fresh new take and original content with fight breakdown, but the subtle witness with the Bible verse at the end. Well done 👍🏾 subscribed!
@@Generationalwealth94 That's the strategy against androids. They will always win a attrition battle, so just thrown everything all at once and pray, which was vegeta's plan against Recoome.
Hey I really like your videos. It really helps me appreciate the fights even more. Also, I last week I showed my boxing coach your video of Goku vs 19 (specially the part about the footwork) and he liked it too.
This was Vegeta worst beat down for me. He worked so hard and died trying to become a super sayain just to get his ass beat by a teenage girl. She wasn’t even trying to kill either which makes it that much more humiliating. It’s funny that 18 is the cause of two of vegeta most embarrassing moments
The most humiliating beat downs Vegeta ever got in the Z series I would say were against Android 18 and second I would say was from Kid Boo. Kid Boo literally stomps Vegeta's face into a rock in their fight in disrespectful fashion.
@@offthedeepend3996 agreed but the kid buu fight was badass on his end because he just wouldn't stay down. I love that frame of kid buu shocked that vegeta is still getting up and walking at him. "What're you gawking at?..."
@@offthedeepend3996the Kid Buu fight want humiliation. He went into it knowing he’d lose and still fought. That’s courage. He came up with the plan for Goku to use the spirit bomb and stalled. On the other hand, vs. 18 and vs. perfect Cell were two moments of absolute hubris.
Man... you've been doing an amazing job with those videos. I've been a fan of DBZ since I was 9 (I'm 35 now) and there are so many little details I had never paid attention to during the fights! Keep it up the great work!
Not into MMA, but love DBZ lol. Good shit! Helping me to appreciate the show in a whole new angle. I love how much of the characters's personalities end up coming through when you look at their small-scale tactics/BIQ.
As for Piccolo Vs. Trunks, not as simple of a matchup as you might think. Trunks has Super Saiyan but Piccolo has spent three years training with that and likely figuring out all the strengths AND weaknesses of the form in the process. That combined with his previous battle experience overall and his regeneration nullifying Trunks's sword as a definitive game ender not to mention Trunks's level of INEXPERIENCE, I think the fight would end with Piccolo slowly draining Trunks's tank dry like 18 does to Vegeta here or Trunks mindlessly overpowering Piccolo. But my personal bet is on Piccolo, 6/10 probability.
@@BIGTHANKSHEESHI don’t really think that means anything, Tien didn’t get knocked out til much later than the both of them, but you’re not going to say Tien>piccolo and trunks
@@Saintsrow1824 Tien got knocked out via strangulation. It’s different as for Trunks and Piccolo, they were knocked out via hits/having people thrown at them. Trunks by 17s hand and Vegeta getting thrown at him and Piccolo via kick and hand hit. Anyone who says Vegeta only lost by getting tired is crazy. Like, I don’t think Android 18 showed a single sign of pain this whole fight. Example: at 2:23, Vegeta rocked her clean in the face and she didn’t even flinch
@@zaja2418 Similar fights. Vegeta starts off good, but once his opponent starts fighting a bit seriously he is finished. Vegeta kept fghting back till the end in both fights despite being outmatched and in both ends up holding his arm lol. Nice analysis sensible , I been a sub since the first goku vs Frieza vid before he went supersaiyan , I never knew how much attention to detail these fights really had and I’m pretty blown away after you breaking them down like that
Lemme just say this: I don't care if 18 had unlimited stamina, there is no excuse for how badly Vegeta performed in this fight. He was even with 18 at full strength, but burnt himself out so fast that she completely humiliated him. Compare that to Piccolo's fight with 17. Both of them were also equal, but Piccolo was WAY more efficient with his attacks, and made the fight extremely competitive till the very end (despite 17 fighting at increasingly high intensity to burn him out). Point being, Vegeta's ego and need to prove himself superior really clouded his battle tactics. If he had just respected his opponent, the fight would've at least been closer than it was.
There's also the fact that at this point in time he's still raw at being a Super Saiyan, and hasn't pushed himself beyond getting to the point of simply maintaining it. Android 19 did -not- test him, so bro likely thought the same would be true of all of his opponents save for Goku.
Piccolo had WAY more information on the androids than Vegeta, had already fought them once and was a bit stronger than 17... while Vegeta was equal to 18.
@@thediaz07Piccolo and Vegeta were working with the same information though. Trunks had already told them by that point that the Androids had infinite stamina. That said, you definitely make the argument Piccolo was a decent bit stronger than Vegeta here after his fusion with Kami.

I agree. Would’ve loved to see a sparring session from the two
@@SensibleSaiyanyeah, would've loved to see Piccolo teach Trunks *how* to fight. Plus, when thinking about who'd win I didn't even take into account the whole army extend thing Piccolo can do. So he has a massive reach advantage.
These breakdowns really show how great the choreography is in some of these fights. Love this series.
And most of this fight was done by the bad animators. I do wonder who did storyboards for this.
@@qwelionplays642 and I think those videos were wrong. This is a situation where Toriyama wants the reader to know something and tells them right out by putting it in the mouth of the only character in a position to know.

Perfect explanation of 18 VS Vegeta
Dude me and my son found this channel and it is some crazy stuff. You're the man and these videos are great. He is so into dragon ball now. He loves your training arc video on goku and krillin. Much love dude.
That’s awesome! Wish you guys the best
I feel like it focused more on the stamina aspect and Goku reinforces this
Both Goku and Vegeta referenced this in the manga.
@ that is a fair point about the full blooded saiyan mindset but I still argue that super saiyan makes that mindset worse at least in this arc.

I'm actually amazed how you can read the characters moves just by looking at a frame.
Good work man
When Sensible Saiyan uploads you KNOW you’re in for a treat. 10/10 as always bro
Oh, and Trunks has that 1v1 locked in
Your attention to detail with showing not just the fighter’s precision strikes and techniques, but also their characteristics that emphasizes the SELL of the fights.
I'm eternally amazed both at how much thought there is in these fights and how well you can spot everything.
I love how you break down these fight vegeta vs 18 has always be one of my favourite vegeta fight.

great video after finals to cool off, thanks dude!
Never seen a fight breakdown like this. Well done, sir. And it made me aware of how well choreographed many of the DBZ fights are.
Perfect timing for the upload! I was just finishing my supper for my day off. This'll be a great video for my meal. Gratitude 🙏.
Holly shit this video is amazing. The detailed break down, fun jokes, good pace, but most importantly it elevates the source material. A lot of content creators making media commentary could learn a thing or 2 from you. Great job!

Piccolo's 'ahahaha' will never not make me laugh
These fight analysis videos are really cool, revealing that there's a lot more detail to DBZ choreography than I thought and plenty of tactical depth. I wonder what we'd see in an analysis of Vegeta's fights with Zarbon, particularly the first.
First of your videos I've seen. I'm blown away, not just by the level of detail with which you were able to analyze the fight at the frame/cel level, but also the apparent level of detail the animators took in animating the fight. I've never looked this closely at DBZ fights. I also appreciate the references to other fights like the future showdown between Piccolo and 17.

8:38 Krillin is being the only rational person there, anyone without blond hair is NOT gonna matter in a fight like this and Piccolo and Tien jumping in after Trunks was just plain stupidity on their parts...
this was good dawg. you put a fresh take on something i've watch a ton of times
I disagree that Trunks was being naive when he figured Vegeta could keep up with 18. In the TV special, both he and Gohan would only manage to get 2 or 3 good hits in before getting overwhelmed. So he was in good reason to be surprised at Vegeta's performance.
Gohan regularly fought two androids by himself I disagree with what you said.
These are too good man I honestly don’t think anyone is breaking these fights down like this keep up the great work looking forward to the next one
Absolutely love these videos. I’ve said it before, you got something very unique here.
Keep it up bro.
"We needed the Vegeta that fought Recoome here."
Hint hint?
I don't get it... the Vegeta that fought Recoome went for the kill immediately

And that's exactly why vegeta got his get back when he let her get absorbed by cell. In the end they even.
Frieza made Vegeta cry
@@offthedeepend3996the Kid Buu fight want humiliation. He went into it knowing he’d lose and still fought. That’s courage. He came up with the plan for Goku to use the spirit bomb and stalled.
On the other hand, vs. 18 and vs. perfect Cell were two moments of absolute hubris.

Bro I hope this channel blows up. You're making my shifts at work. I play your videos on my other monitor and I'm dyin.
I think I agree with that
No way Piccolo is stronger than super saiyan before fusing with Kami. Trunks wins, no matter his inexpirience.
@@dushandvr5765 Nah. 17 dropped SSJ Trunks as fast as he dropped Piccolo. The fight would be far closer than youd think
@@adriantallent8557 yes good point.
