This project was a turn-based strategy / RPG from Impressions Games (Sierra). Between 1997-98, I created a fantasy-based soundtrack to set the scene for the land of Urak.
It was innovative game music for its time, and though a bit dated by today's standards, it's still the most requested of all of the soundtracks I've worked on -- most people ask me for the guitar "tab" for the Order track, but I actually performed it on a keyboard! The Roland JV-1080 was a really fun synthesizer to work with and comprised much of the work here (along with an E-mu Ultraproteus, Yamaha MU-80 and a couple of E-mu ESI-series samplers).
It was a joy to create this soundtrack, and I hope Sierra makes a sequel one day soon!
The music was released for Lords of Magic, Special Edition, and Legends of Urak.

Allow me to be the first to say:
This music is the main reason I learned to play Water.
That was *not* easy...but this made it worth it.
Agreed! This is one of the best tracks in the game (and I say that with the opinion that many of the other tracks were outstanding, as well).
Water warriors and cavalry at high lvl are very strong, just go down to life to get the archers and youre set
I'd say their champions at high level are very strong. And water thief is one of my favorite because of their high rate of fire and high defense, they can solo enemy archers/thieves quite well. Ice comet is incredibly strong as well :)
@@Llando Life/Water are a very effective tandem. Maybe more than any other pairing in the game. Whether you start as Life and liberate Water's temple or vice versa, once you have both you're basically set.

Lords Of Magic у меня был без видеовставок, музыка была только в главном меню и в бою, было множество багов (например, невозможно было передать артефакт от героя к герою).
Лишь спустя много лет сумел прослушать весь саундтрек...
А динамическая смена музыки в процессе боя - нечто совершенно гениальное. В современных играх ничего подобного не встретишь.

Oh man I'm so happy someone pointed me to your youtube page. To this day, the LoM soundtrack remains some of my favorite music. It stuck with me even after over a decade of not playing the game.
You can play again even on windows 10! Steam and got have it 4.99 only. Mods are available too.

Thank you so much for creating such awesome and memorable music for a truly great game. I played this for hours as a kid and still listen to this soundtrack and of Outpost 2 ( another Sierra title ) often. I LOVE games with great sound tracks and LoM's was incredible. Thank you for helping make my childhood / early adulthood gaming experience a truly great one for getting to experience games / soundtracks like this!

While far from my favorite faith to play as, Water's theme remains as fantastic and enchanting as any on the soundtrack.

As others have said, the music for this game is indeed legendary. It takes you far away from this mundane world. Was it difficult to get all those sound effects together with the technology back then?
Do you recall what instruments you used for this song, I could never pin it down and it sometime keeps me up at night lol

This is Water's and Air's music. I loved the music and storyline just as much as playing the game itself. This was my favorite faiths' music:)
I didn't mind the Water Faith, but I don't think I ever started out a game as them... Most of the time I played Life and would just kinda assimilate Water into my society... I like the music though. The under-water-y bubbly sounds. Those almost whale-call sounding bits. It's special. ^^
The WATER soundtrack was my favorite! The words that described the soundtrack of the water faith: Triumphant Valiant Rejuvenating WomenWarriors(It is this symbolism that proves that women and minorities can do just as well as their counterparts). Last but not least,the one word that comes to mind in the Water Faith soundtrack:HOPE!

I never liked the Water Faith as a kid. It just seemed too weird that they were all "amazons" and yet had male cavalry and spiders as their legendary? Why?
A society can't survive with only women. Maybe it's a female-dominated society, but there are still men, and while their fighting numbers are limited, they'd still naturally take up arms, especially in a situation like the one in the game.

@@josiahharrison9843 God yes. I was playing thief lord and trying to cheese one of them for hours to maybe, hopefully, get rid of it then attack with the rest of my troops but of course it would just heal back up between turns. Since that was recently and I was playing the Steam version though I got the unofficial update that fix this issue (and adds a bunch more info on the stat screens) and started over.
I've learned to play water quite competently, There Lizard fighters are quite tough and they have "Fire's number."
Also they can travel through swamp no prob.
