    I remember day one when T8 was released. “Law is dead! He sucks now!” Is what a lot of ppl said.

      It’s also the fact that “Law is dead” makes for a great title/ thumbnail. It gets a lot of clicks and acting outraged (wether if it’s a genuine reaction or not) is a easy way to score cheap points from people who may initially get a feeling that they’ve been screwed. I think it’s unfortunate

    I completely agree with this change as a law main myself too. I think the slide is still generally super strong but its not broken anymore, I don't think any character should have that type of bs mixup law had off of just crouching. Thanks for the video though you've given me more ideas to work with on hit with the slide.

Sometimes get up and a hopkick works too. I did used the slide after a slide mix up as well with just ok results.

    First of all, thank you Lambkin for your efforts and the information you provided to us. And yes, I am with you about being grateful for the changes that happened to Law in Tekken 7 compared to now, but as for the capabilities and powers of the other characters in Tekken 8, Law is considered the weakest among them and requires a tremendous effort in order to be able to deal with opponents, especially at high levels of blue rank and above, while other characters can Promotion is very fast and easy, without the need for any significant effort compared to Marshall Law.

  • @kylefields3951
    @kylefields3951 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I always thought the situation after landing a Slide was unnecessarily powerful, both for Law and Shaheen. In my view, your reward is that you get a True High Crushing Low that does 30+ Damage and is unseeable, and with the benefit of being able to deliberately show your hand and then Mix up the opponent. That's a lot of upside, and then you get an additional reward after Hitting the opponent? Idk. Being able to attack the enemy after you hit them (with initiative) should happen from Standing, not after a guessing game with a big Low like that.
    I'm totally fine with this change as a Shaheen Main, because I use Slide with intentionality. It's nowhere near even my Top 10 Moves I use for Offensive Pressure/Presence.

    The nunchuck nerf when the Heat Smash whiffs is the only change I dislike for this one. Making the move track less was already enough, but removing the launcher property, even on counter hit, was overdone.

    • @LarryLynx
      @LarryLynx หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. Especially since the heat smash does not track even a miniscule amount anymore. It was a perfect tool to stop sidesteppers that leaves you on plus. Law has very poor options for side steppers now. They are either low damage pokes, initiate very slowly or leaves you heavily at minus on block. For instance, while the low 3-kick is decent, it is extremly easy to crush with jumping attacks, launchers that connect simultaneously and heavily punishable on block while only doing 15 damage. B3-kick initiate to slowly to catch steppers on react, is heavily minus on block too. B4 is like 13 damage, so you need to read their step like 15 times in a row, which does not happen.

    @RADwarriors หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I agree, the nerfs suck but aren’t that bad like you said. I played some rank as a tekken king with the new patch and got to tekken god like I wanted. All it took was 19 wins in a row! The rank point distribution is crazy cause after 19 wins in a row I’m like how am I not at tekken god or at least god supreme? I lost my promo 3 times to a Devil Jin, and Asuka but in a nutshell it takes 20 wins in a row to get from tekken king-tekken god.

    • @Lambkin-_-
      @Lambkin-_-  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they do a spring kick they will get counterhit launched by the 1+2 option. Same with other getup kicks if you are slightly late on the timing or if you do a WS mid they’ll get hit by it. As I said, people generally recover by pressing ‘up’ (quickstand) in that situation. Because that is the best way to block the guaranteed 1+2 if the law player is late on the timing

    I got hit so hard with those nunchuck changes, apparantly i spammed the oki more than i thought. Now that im struggling, do you have any tips on how to get a good launcher on law against an diffensive enemy? They always break the FF 1+2 grab and doing frame traps only works for a round or two.

    • @MitsuSC
      @MitsuSC หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mix up your offense. Try going for double break throws when on plus frames only. Go for a more neutral approach with pokes like d4,3, db3 or df1. f2+3 is also an excellent grab to go with as the animation is a little odd and the break is specific to 2.
      Slides are still a large part of the Law offense even with the nerf so you can still mix them up quite a few times, just not as often.

  • @ST-pq4dx
    @ST-pq4dx หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I disagree with the take of this video.
    Tekken in general has characters divide by type. I don't think it is much true in T8.
    Law is supposed to be poke heavy, but his poke like db3, ss3 at -13 are launch punishable by cast. No magic 4 either. dss doesnt have a homing mid (can be -9), dss useless with ssr duck. And dss can be interrupted with 1 jab. With these issues, moves like nunchik are utmost important.
    In T8, all the cast has something to call for with running moves and heat smashes. With these nerfs, law doesn't have a thing. How is push back on nunchik in heat braindead? You can do it twice and heat is gone. I mean there are characters with multiple heatsmashes which are lows as well.
    Most characters in t8 cast, you fear the mixup. Laws nerf with slide pushback after nunchuck removed that. When your are playing against characters like lili, xiaoyu, Mishima etc we should take the mix but not law anymore.
    Your are bringing up uf3 which is mid heat engager, but negative and not armor. Once law players start using that heavily, that will be nerfed for sure.
    When you compare to T7, yes there was no follow-up after slide but there was db4 low launcher and backturn hopkick which was high reward high risk but not in T8.

  • @AllenJohn

    I am sorry, Lambkin, but I think you should play on PC and versus Asian players and European players, for you to realize the folly of your words. You really need stiff competition to realize the Law cannot be nerfed with "bug fixes"
    Not everyone has the dexterity to do the slide as fast Rip or yourself. Most of us do struggle in doing the slide. Sometimes braindead is the fun to play online especially when other characters are getting buffs.
    You are one of the lucky few players that has reached TGS with Law this fast. You would it find more difficult if you play as Law on Steam.

      What is this take? Most people play with controller on pc too so what difference would that make?

    • @AllenJohn
      @AllenJohn หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bosko_Ivkovic I made three points in the previous comment, so which one are you referring to?
      FYI, there was a tweet I read the other day from a pro player who shifted from a PS5 to PC, and he struggled with his movement and combos. It wasn't the controller or the machine that he was using, but it is the fact that Tekken on console has more input lag than on PC.
      Keeping that in mind, playing online from PC is less forgiving, and when there is a delay or rollback frame of even 1F, Law will end up fumbling the slide. This problems applies to all of Law's punishes and DSS.
      To this day, I think Tekken 8 on PC needs more optimization as you can see the 1.05 patch is more focused Steam fixes than that of console. Hell, since this new patch, whenever I play against a console, in the runback, the game automatically reduces the quality of the visuals of the game so that it looks like the PS5 version 🙄like how we see in this video.

    • @Lambkin-_-
      @Lambkin-_-  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I don’t understand what you are trying to say. If playing on PC is worse, then why would I intentionally handicap myself by switching to PC? I already play against Europeans. I am European. Yes I know not everyone can do super fast slides, but as I said in the video, it promotes player skill expression, which I think is a good thing. Law has already been made 100 times easier in 8. I think having a super strong, brain dead easy oki loop on top of all the stuff he already has available with basically no skill required, is a bit too much to ask.

    • @AllenJohn
      @AllenJohn หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Lambkin-_- 1) Law has been braindead since T8 was released, all of the moves that gave Law fighting chance in T7 has been removed or modified.
      2) That setup didn't make Law braindead because 99% of the Law players can't do that set up. Those who could do the OKI setup, they all knew if the opponent just stood straight up, the nunchuk could be blocked and Law could punished.
      You are part of the Elite set of Law players that can do abuse the slides while the rest of us struggle. I truthfully think NAMCO/Harada listens to you like how they do with MMSWE with Kazuya. Your words should not be taken as gospel.
      For you to understand that, you need to shift to the PC version. It is not a handicap to play on PC, as it is more precise than on PS5. All pro players knows that as a fact. So "all these plus frames" that Law means nothing because the Top Tier Characters will interupt and punish every thing Law does. You don't even have to go online; even on practice mode, putting the difficulty on anything above medium can show you how Law gets interrupted over his plus frames or his blocked nunchuck has reduced distance.
      I see a lot of mediocre players reaching high ranks on the PS5. From watching your matches, you don't get punished as much as your are supposed to. In my opinion, I would say a intermediate Tekken player on PC will wipe the floor with your Law because they are that good. And when that happens to you on repeat against with your Law, you will get agitated like the rest of the Law players who thinks nerfing or balancing Law again and again is unfair.
      17:00 When you gave your opinion on the patch being fair, you sounded like Marie Antoniette, sitting high up in her palace and saying "Let them eat cake."
