Currently the OH58 is broken. The laser designator and the sight is inline with the nose of the helicopter instead of being mounted in the MMS, (ball) above the rotor blades. Ideally the aircraft would be able to hover just above the trees with only its optical sensor above the trees. Meaning it is less likely to get locked up by AA.
Can confirm this after going in test mode. While *visually* the pointer/view is at the top of the mast, if you designate from "hulldown" the missile will go into the ground (after cresting the hill) almost immediately as *physically* there is no laser on the actual target.
I had some pretty mixed results in controlled testing (custom battle with a buddy). It seemed like 50% of the time, LOS was blocked and 50% it wasn't. I wasn't able to reproduce any particular behavior consistently enough to file a bug report.
And with that, almost all of the helicopters I had models of hanging up in my room as a kid have been added to the game. Huey, Cobra, Apache, Little Bird, and now the Kiowa. All that's missing is the Black Hawk.
Helicopters 'hang' from their rotors. so their pivot point should be in the centre of the rotor disk. In WT that the pivot point is closer to the centre of the fuselage. It's a real distraction.
One of my IRL buddies is a retired US Army helicopter pilot (fact-checked my "how to fly helicopters" vid for me) and mentioned that ... "it just looks really weird...."
I seriously had a good chuckle at the "made out of plywood" and "get out and push." I'd really have a little shit my pants moment if i saw you in my ground battle in a helicopter
A small tip that might help in the future: set a bind for manual roll control. That way you can roll to the side to strafe or offset momentum when turning without having to do that rocking back and forth thing.
Great video dude, also, I don't want to look bad, but, have you considered making a yak 9 revew (any of the versions but preferably the UT since it's the highest br one) ik it's not a new aircraft but I haven't found any videos on the in your channel. @@TimsVariety its effectively the same 12.7 gau as the AH-6 gets which is ~40-45mm of pen with the ''slap round'' AP/default belt the 30 mm is the real question here.

I find playing helis with hellfire extremly annoying. Like you showed- losing lock for a moment or getting unlucky by teammate killing the target and 1/4 of ammo is wasted.

I am just bored of most current meta vehicles like ka-50, t-80bvm etc. and want to play something fun and dynamic. Hydra runs with ah-1z are nice but any spaa on that br can end this fast. PS Hope apkws with M247 warhead will be introduced and lowered in spawn points

Could it be possible to have reference pictures in the history segments to get a better idea of what you're talking about? 0:19 - 0:35 would be great to see what those helies look like without having to pause and go look them up myself. Otherwise great video! :)

I just completed grinding this helicopter today. I have a personal attachment to this helicopter as I have flown in the earlier models (OH-58A/C) and later in my Civilian career, helped manage the repairs and overhauls for the engines in the OH-58D fleet. It was really strange that at least once an engine came in with a bullet hole in it. Aside from completing daily’s to complete getting the free battle pass, I plan to dedicate most my war thunder time to spading this.
Sry to jump into with a question is there by any chance a tutorial style how to video on aiming with aircraft cannons with jets bt 7.3+ when passing over 600kph + ? I started going up to tech three and I'm having issues to hit stuff that are above 700kph and in a turn or similar when I hit them its mostly down to luck or when they slow down or when I surprise someone. With props I rarely have this problem since its easier to judge distance.
I don't have a tutorial up on the topic, but its not just you - it IS genuinely much more difficult to score gun hits up at high speeds like that, and because of the higher speeds sometimes the target is going to slip between your shots even with the right angle lined up.
Same issue as the "little bird": the quantity of it's weapon systems not the quality. Not sure if it worth the enormous RP it requires + not effective in heli PvE so upgrading it will be painful and long at best.
Always glad to see more Helis. Not all, fuck Russian Helis. I would love to see more Italian copters tho Edit. You could do a A.129CBT video. 10.0 Heli with Hellfires, Mistrals, flares, IRCM, chin canon and superb flight model. Easily one of the best and most fun helis in game. Few times I did 8/9 kills per run, without rearming. Now imagine that but with Spikes
Since the most recent update, you can use RP gained from ground battles to research helis instead of tanks. There is a tickbox when you bring up the research tree for ground.
They need to fix the rockets already. Firing 2 rockets at a time is bad for this chopper. Also, how come on my OH the doors are on, but they are off on yours?

depending on how good the 30mm is using it or the 12.7 gau + 2 atas as first spawn anti cas/heli is a viable option too.
I was honestly surprised that the 12.7 could kill medium ground vehicles. It ended up being more effective than I expected, which was fun.

30mm is useless, between the recoil+slow ROF and limited pen, the .50 cal is a better alternative by far.

I've reviewed the French AD-4NA, which is similar, but yes the A2D is on my radar (so to speak).
