I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer!
I love the portrayals of Cleopatra, Jeanne D'Arc, Marie Curie and (I think) Georgia O'Keeffe, although since we know Tatiana loves Frida Kahlo (as do I) because of that tattoo on her arm, I will always think of that character in this video as Georgia O'Keeffe on the outside and Frida Kahlo on the inside.
Great reaction and comments on the lyrics! Thank you, as always Ray, for bringing more of the fantastic music of Jinjer to more people! ❤️ 🖤 🤘

@allendesalme197 Because of the meaning of the lyrics, it would seem to lean towards Frida. She more famously dealt with sexism. She did sometome wear her hair up though I don't know of her specifially wearing that type of outfit. Maybe a hybrid of the two?

I don't think these lyrics are a basic, typical feminist message. I think it's more about how successful women who broke barriers and are remembered in history had some of their femininity stripped away in the process of taking more masculine roles, and that's unfortunate.

As a man raised by two women I saw two ladies be BOSS ladies. I think unfortunately there are some weak minded women out there who jump on this feministic bandwagon because they never worked hard to be undeniable. My mother and sister are two undeniable women and they succeed. Tati is undeniable. Thus why she won the game of life. It's not like its the 1800s still. The world is becoming a more inclusive place vs over 200 years ago. Ladies listen to Tati. She's your spirit animal into progress and development as a human.

I think we must also remember, Tati is Ukrainian...whose women(especially the younger women) are having to fight for their very existence, where they are filling roles typically thought of as male-orientated roles, but when your society is being threatened at the levels of Ukraine's is, there is no room for stereotype gender roles.
I follow that war closely, there are an incredible amount of female soldiers, female snipers, female drone operators, female sappers, as well as the typical roles like nurse, doctor, and support...the interviews I see with these young ladies, this song fits very well, they seem proud of their accomplishments but recognize they didn't get to have the female options of growing up. They are scared like the men, missing limbs, scars from burns, from bullets, from shrapnel, scars in their minds, on their hearts, and through their souls, and for a traditionalist society like Ukraine's, these are even more damaging sacrifices.

"Right off the top, feels pretty heavy" Jinjer? (just teasing Ray, please don't take offense)
I know some of the tracks you've previously reacted to don't come out swinging. This is probably the most Djent (metal sub genre) that they have ever sounded, particularly Eugene and Roman. Vlad's arrangement is stellar. Then there's Tati being Tati. Lyrically and vocally firing on all cylinders with a melody that is very engaging. Kudos to the boys for also providing Tatiana with a powerhouse of sound befitting her message of woman empowerment.

I feel like the song minus the video is artfully balancing between Tatiana'a experience becoming a metal warrior, a kind of every-woman journey, and the countless Ukranian women who have taken up arms to defend their nation.
The music in their new album was mostly composed during and shortly after the siege of Kyiv where the guys were trapped for several months in the early part of the war. Tatiana had been in California with her husband since October so she wasn't there but I suspect it's still an influence on her lyrics. It's going to be an interesting album.
Edit: probably leaned too hard into the military angle. The name and icon suggested that to me, then the first line reminded me of the women in the basic training unit I was in.

It's sort of empowering, but you're not getting the whole point. This song is about how if a woman is going to be recognized in the world, she's got to give up some of her femininity to do it. And Tati kind of resents that. She like being a woman and having the traditional attributes associated with women. Like being nurturing and soft and kind. And she doesn't like that in general, for a woman to get what she wants in this world she has to give some of that up. At the end she acknowledges that she is making her way in the world, but look how people talk about her because of that. They call her a "Bad Ass." Or they call her "Fierce." When she'd rather make it in this world and be called "Kind" and "Loving." IE Somebody's Daughter and not some kind of masculine woman warrior.

Your reaction was just like mine, and I love it. This earned the sub.
I have a daughter. This song is everything about her struggle. I'm a proud feminist. I don't care what any fool says, women deserve respect and equal treatment in every aspect of our society. Fight me. Tatiana embodies the roar of feminine defiance. She's Captain Metal. The most powerful superhero in the MCU (Metal Concert Universe). She may have a shy, mild-mannered offstage alter ego. But when she hits the stage, she Hulks up. She transforms into something fierce and indomitable. It's what she's had to do to survive, but it's a beautiful thing to behold.
I have our tickets, and I'm proud to be taking my daughter to see Someone's Daughter! I hope you get a chance to see them live too--they'll be in the States in a few weeks. Go see for yourself just how powerful they are onstage!

Bro...in Western society, what rights do women not have that men have? None. In fact, women are given preferential treatment on every level at the expense of men.
Stop with this trope that women are downtrodden and held down by society. If you were honest with yourself, you'd find that its men who are treated as expendable and used and abused by society.
