In the books Alicent is nine years older than Rhaenyra and married Viserys at 18 years old. In the show they made Alicent and Rhaenyra about the same age so that they could make them friends to add drama. In episode 2 Rhaenyra was 15 when Viserys declared his betrothal to Alicent so she was also about 15. As of this episode, both are about 18 or 19.
The parallel between Rhaenyra and Alicent was magnificent. And I admire Alicent more. I don't want women to be put in the same position as her, but the way that she's enduring it all for the sake of her duty, shows me that she's a very strong woman. Because doing your duty, especially at that time setting, is much more difficult than doing what you want and giving in to your desires. I remember when I was reading the asoaif books, there were heavy emphasis on Jon Snow about doing what he wants and his duty. It gave me chills when Maester Aemon told him to 'kill the boy', meaning that he has to kill the boy inside him and let the man in him be born, by doing what he has to do. In many ways, Alicent has 'killed the girl', and now she is really a woman grown. She has been for many years. While Rhaenyra is still very much a girl. I know I will trigger a lot of people by saying this, but I respect Alicent a lot more.
Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Like I like Rhaenyra as the main character and I know Alicent is supposed to be a bitch in books but here in the show I can’t help but admire her character. All this time she endured many things upon the commands of men around her and I think it’s courageous in itself cause she feels that she is doing her duty perfectly no matter if she likes it or not and as she said “you shouldn’t even place yourself in a possible where your virtue can even come in question”. I have relate to a quote as much as this.
@@Tooba-K123 I actually don't remember Alicent being a bitch in the books. I think most people just see Rhaenyra as another Daenerys. Someone to root for, and shows empowerment, etc. and that's all good, but yeah strength isn't only in doing what you want and taking what's rightfully yours.
He wasn't completely manipulating rhanenrya and I do think he cares for her deeply maybe even love her. And I don't think he wants to marry her only for power but they would make a powerful couple.
Im not surprised the child won the fight, the Blackwoods are tough guys. Three eyed raven in Got (Brans master) was half Blackwood, half Targaryen, and a notorious warrior in his prime.

About Daemon and Nyra. I think his plan was for Viserys not even having a chance to reject his proposal to Marry her. That's why he even uncovered her hair when they entered the brothel. When he was about to do "it" he felt bad for using her in that way. Maybe he even realised in that moment that he loved her, so he couldn't do it
Daemon had a plan to get the princess seen while in the pleasure house, that is why he took off her hat so everyone knew it was her.He knew it would get back to the king and the king would believe no suitor would want her and then Daemon could wed her.
She looked at Alicent and swore on her dead mother that nothing happened and then Alicent went and told the king. Rhaenyra can either come clean about everything and hope hes reasonable and can work together to figure out what to do next OR start to build a little web of lies that we know is gonna get out of hand. If she decides not to drink the tea, and it turns out she's pregnant, she's gonna have to come up with some scheme to keep Christen or Dameon from being killed or quickly get married and try to fool everyone into believing its Leanor's baby.
To be fair, Rhaenyra didn't lie about her and Daemon, they didn't have sex, she just was omissive about Sir Criston, but that's a very logical thing to do, and probably that action saved Criston.
@@fleisbester612 She lied. She said "he didn't touch me". They were kissing and groping in the middle of an orgy. What was the spy supposed to think? If you saw that you'd assume that they were doing what everyone else was doing. The fact that the pants never came down and his P didn't enter the V is irrelevant
Daemon if you recall in ep 1 is impotent, that's why he couldn't go all the way with Rhaenyra. So he certainly didn't stop bc he knew it was wrong. He stopped bc he couldn't get it up.
George sure likes taking parts of certain movies/books & puts it in his own stories. Namely, the movie Excalibur, a fabulous medieval movie, based on the story of King Arthur. In GOT, the character Melisandra mirrors the character Morgana in many aspects. As well as taking the forward mouthed blond haired Geofrey, who mirrored Mordred. Like in here, King Arthur's Wife, Guinevere, has an affair with Sir Lancelot. A knight of the Round Table accuses her of it. Guinevere denies it, Arthur incensed, calls for someone to joust the accuser to reclaim the Queen's virtue. Only a squire volunteers on the Queen's behalf, however Lancelot appears in the nick of time to replace the squire & reclaims Guinevere's virtue by winning the joust. I sense that this is headed in the same way. Although I mentioned a lot, there is so much more to watch in that great movie if one chooses to.
From Reading Wiki Game of Thrones a few years ago, it seemed like Dance of Dragons was essentialy a war between two women Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. And it came off really as a bad step mother fighting for her children to ursup her step daughter's claim. With both women hating each other. But on the show they made them closer in age so they could be friends first and then the conflict would take another turn later on.
@@mori1bund She said: "Daemon never touched me." It doesn't mean they had sex, but they sure did things, and we saw them on screen. (in the book in those scenes they do everything and more, not to be vulgar ... even something that is done with the mouth)

Hi Larissa, hope all is well. So it finally happened for Rhaenyra, only not with who I thought it would be with! Otto "Middle finger" Hightower is done (for now), Daemon will not stay away permanently and lastly, Rhaenyras decision to abort or not ! Take care, ✌
Larissa about Criston Cole with Rhaenyra: "That guy is way too good, if she has to be together with a guy... That guy" Me: (potential SPOILER) lol, the irony
Just joined your Patreon. I loved your reaction. I'm still shipping Rhaenyra and Alicent too. I've read the book so I know it doesn't happen, but I still want them together. The actors have such great chemistry. Parts of this episode were really gross. I'm glad that it was ambiguous. That being said, I think the scenes were directed well by Clare Kilner. I think that's part of the reason why I wasn't as disgusted by the scenes as I was with Jamie/Cersei or Jon/Danny. Clare and the showrunners said that the reason Daemon and Rhaenyra didn't fully have sex is because Daemon often can't... perform. They've already shown it in the show before. The showrunners said he struggles because he knows deep down that what he's doing is wrong. Did you notice in the last episode that Daemon does not speak at all at the end of the episode? I am so impressed by Matt Smith's performance in this show. I didn't think I'd be able to see him as anything other than the Eleventh Doctor, but his performance in this has supplanted that memory in my head now.
I actually have a bit of respect for Daemon for not using her like that, though messed up that he even considered it but then again they are Targaryens and this is GOT, incest is nothing new, and also though messed up that he just left her in a prostitution den. But I feel like Daemon has always held favor towards Rhaenyra I mean he listens to her about the egg for her brother, he gave her gifts, and always allowed her to be willful, he was always soft with her even when he was discontent with her father his brother. He actually loves her. So the fact he realized it was wrong to use her for his gains in this political game garners a little respect I think. And to the point of Rhaenyra being in a heat and wanting for lust. She’s a young girl who at this point is 19/20 years old. It’s only natural that someone her age, wants sex. And at least she got to choose, unlike poor Alicent who never had that choice. And Ser Criston Cole isn’t such a bad choice. Not to mention the fact that her and Criston had been close for some years, those two definitely had secretly harbored feelings for each other. And I also liked that Criston looked so divided on whether or not he should betray his vow, and oath, everything he’s worked so hard for, or accept his feelings he’s long held for Rhaenyra, I like that they didn’t just instantly make him choose lust. But in the end the love he had for her won. And he gave in to her. I like that.
All of the "Rhaenyra + Daemon" edits popping up on TH-cam are just _SILLY_ 😅 You can literally picture pre-teen girls, (or effeminate boys) probably still in middle school lol sitting there in their room, all dreamy and starry-eyed, creating video clip after video clip, all to the soundtrack of their most recent favorite music! I think Daemon wanted Rhaenyra seen in the brothel (the hat) so whoever was out there would report to Hightower.
I think he just had second thoughts about it. I don’t think it was some scheme. The day after he just went with it and was mocking the king.
