Oh man really came in handy knowing nothing about knots I need to tie something under my car that was coming off and scraping on the ground very tight. 🙏🏾 You tube saved the day
INCREDIBLE!!!!! I can't believe I didn't know about this knot before. This knot would work so well for my big eggshell foam that I use when I go camping! This would also be an excellent type of knot to cinch up and close the top of a sack that you're going to be in and out of all the time.
This is a knot i use all the time. Everyone should and show others to make this knot. My personal additions to this knot. Having CJ/A knot on both ends allows for a handle for something like this. ( good for kids to know to hold there mitts/gloves over there neck but easy to undo to use.) Bring the loop over the other end , then tightening it allows for a full circle or loop.( i use that for hooking a much of tape together. ty for sharing C.R.
@@TheSmokinApe Amen to that! It has a lot more uses too. With the figure of eight, a loop can be tied to the end of a rope. Try that with an overhand and you have a noose.
Packer's knot works fine too. For hard tension or for cinching down a load I'd work with some variation of the truckers hitch. Preferably with a auto-locking action (passing the working end throught the loop twice).

Appreciated the explanation in the beginning. Lots of videos show knot making but fail to explain how they can be used.

Thanks for using high-vis cord. Was very easy to see what was going on. With the black cord it just looked like magic.
Thanks for the feedback, it's the kind of stuff that will help me make better videos...

Pretty much the only knot you need to know for a secure cinche in bushcrafting.. esp for shelter building.. thanks for posting!

Thanks Jeff, glad you liked it 👍
Thank you. Great easy knot. Well done showing here.
Thanks man!
I really like the figure of eight knot instead of an overhand. It may work the same, but it just looks more classy.
The figure 8 is a great knot 👍

Wish there weren't thumbnails interfering with what you're doing at the end.
Really well explained
Thanks Eric 👍
I find this useful for straw bales when I don't use a full one.

Cool knot. Hey Ape, I'm reaching far back into your youth. Is there a reason why one would choose the overhand knot to the figure eight knot?
Hey Gap, I will guess it’s a half turn easier? The figure 8 is a better knot 🪢
I see also a version of the jam knot where the make a slip knot. Can you tell me if both version are both equally good
For example this video from 2.20 th-cam.com/video/Na_ulQjxqzY/w-d-xo.html
This is the jam knot I use 👍
It looks very similar to how the tautline hitch works.
It is similar in that you tighten with it, the arbor know is a jammed knot though. Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
👍
Thanks. Would this work for alot of tension like on a sail shade?
I think so, they work great under tension 👍
Does it work for a lift or PVC pipe?
Very cool 😎
Thanks for watching Hector 👍
I have the same sleeping mat
Cool knot
Thanks Chad!
When I do this it’s not jamming when I tie up my bundle (a big floaty). I’m using parachord. What am I doing wrong I wonder
Thank you very much!
Welcome!
Its really an American zipper knot
I don’t care what you call it... it does work great! Thanks for the comment.

Never heard this called a Canadian Jam knot. I’m a fisherman and former Boy Scout. I know my knots. I’m Canadian. What’s the origin of this name?
Bro, I just know it as the Canadian Jam... I have no idea how or why... 👍
