  • Join us for our June webinar, the 5th in a series, hosted by the African Doctoral Academy (ADA) at Stellenbosch University, in South Africa, as Prof Brigitte Smit shares some interesting Digital Tools for Research. She is a long time ADA Presenter for ATLAS.ti and more recently NVivo, and is introduced by Ms Corina du Toit, the ADA Programme Manager.
    The ADA is known for its annual Doctoral Schools in capacity and skills development in research design and academic preparedness, for current and prospective PhD candidates, supervisors, and researchers.
    The webinar introduces selected digital tools to facilitate the research process, focusing on empirical and theoretical work. The following digital tools will be practically illustrated, particularly for qualitative research, as well as the literature study:

    More information on our presenter:
    Prof Brigitte Smit (PhD, MEd Cum Laude, BED (HONS), BA(Ed), University of Pretoria) is currently an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, Canada, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. Brigitte is a twice National Research Foundation Rated Researcher, a Senior Accredited Professional Trainer of ATLAS.ti, and former Research Professor in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of South Africa. Her research focuses on qualitative research methodology, female leadership and relational ethics. She serves as a Co-Editor of the International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches and as Editor (Africa) for the International Journal of Qualitative Methods.
    She has taught the course, An introduction to qualitative research analysis with ATLAS.ti at the ADA since 2011 and will present a new course on An Introduction to Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software: NVivo, at the coming Winter School in August 2021.
