They’re still in service today, not for much longer though

I ride regularly and still have not seen a type 6. In fact last week I rode #101b.

Siemens is taking longer than expected to finish their testing. TriMet can’t use them in service until Siemens releases them to TriMet.

@@OtterMan310 brother I’m a rail operator. I know what is happening with them. TriMet got a cheaper price on the trains because they allowed Siemens to use them as a guinea pig for some new systems that they wanted to test. Siemens was still doing that testing until under a month ago. That testing was done both in the yards and on the mainline with training instructors and operators moving the trains while Siemens did diagnostic tests on the trains. Right now there isn’t any testing happening it’s all just burn ins you may see out on the mainline with out of service type 6 trains.

Now if they could have clean and non sketchy stations that would be a great next step

Maybe just my bias from the last month but around 50% of the time I do see security now on the Blue line. It's definitely more than it was when I was last commuting by Max.

Significantly better this year. I ride Blue line alot. I see quite alot of improvement, station cleanliness, and frequent patrols in the train consists.

I make a habit of counting passengers on max trains. And who's in them. I can't tell you the last time I saw one half full. Much less full. Such a colossal waste of taxpayer money. To think of the bus system, roads, and infrastructure we could have had. 4 decades of spending on this crime train. Proof that progressives never admit failure. They just think they haven't tried hard enough, spent enough, or had enough time for things to work. That is why our city is dying. “One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.”

Uh ever seen rush hour? Unless you’re far out in Gresham or Hillsboro, those trains can get PACKED it’s definitely not uncommon and I’d have to say at least from my experience I see those trains pretty full more than a dozen times a month. And trains don’t bring criminals. All the crime and homeless don’t care whether they take the bus or the train but the people who do care are commuters which are incentivized to use train because it’s much better than the bus that was there before. Trimet also provides many people with jobs that they would not be able to commute to if they did not have access to a car. It helps get the homeless off the streets and gets into jobs. I’m not discounting the fact that there are still many homeless that use for train to live in but where exactly else would they go? Many homeless shelters are full and there are not that many of them, and they risk being harassed on the street if they camp there. They rather go in a climate controlled room that they can live in. It’s not Trimet ‘s fault that there are homeless on the streets or in the trains. It’s the fault of jobs making them have to hop from paycheck to paycheck paying exorbitant prices for rent. Trimet has also helped make a better economy (entire housing prices) in many places where the max is. Just look at orenco or Beaverton Central or civic Drive or cascades. All of the development around those stations happened because light rail was built there. In many other places, light rail also raises property values, and sales for businesses.

I ride the bus and max weekdays. They’re always packed during AM and PM rush hours. I don’t know where you’re watching but in the more densely populated areas they’re a good use of funds. Plus, I save a lot of money instead of driving.

Yeah maybe if you exclusively ride it at 2:00am and stare into the corner you might see less passengers

Do you not see the gridlock traffic in Portland? Max trains definitely have riders and fill up most days. As bad as traffic is in Portland, if Trimet wasn't here with its trains. Then I Hate to think what it would be like.

well the electric busses all have issues because the technology is still not there. Diesel or propane is still the way to go.
