Loved this one!! I personally love white gold. I have a 1920s era engagement ring that is white gold and I love the “patina” of the gold. A lot of people comment on it and say I need to get it rhodium plated but I always say no 😂 I feel it will lose its charm!!

I've never thought about it but "what is white gold" is a very interesting question just like what you mentioned about white chocolate. Very informative video!

The adding of metals to gold to make it lighter in appearance, makes sense to call it white gold. However there is no white chocolate since there is no coco in it

      A reasonable take!

I did not know this about white gold, very interesting and now I can dazzle people with my knowledge. Now let’s get to bottom of why we have to even make a choice of white chocolate, seriously!

Loved it ! While I know of white gold and how it’s done ,there is a newer metal ,well let’s say it is new to me , called Palladium , it’s also a white meta from what I see , I don’t know much about it as I have not researched it yet . I have heard it referred to as the “New Platinum” . I do know it is less expensive than Platinum , however I am not sure if it’s more or less expensive than gold . Do you know of Palladium ? Have you ever made any pieces with this particular metal ? What are your thoughts on Palladium Vs Platinum ? Would love to know ! Thanks for sharing Jill ! Xoxo

Lisa, Interesting. I'll have to check how palladium is being marketed. Palladium is not new. It is also an element on the periodic table. It's often use to alloy other metals especially platinum. Hmmm. Maybe this should be a video.

Jill Maurer if I find the video I watched about it I will DM you the link on IG , I just happened to come across it and I had never heard of that metal before at all ! Would love to know more about it myself ! I know it was said in the video it’s ofcourse not nearly as costly as Platinum ! Xoxoxo

Thank you 🙏🏼Jill, always informative. I love this type of video. Can we clean gold at home, with home made cleaners?

Thanks Oxana! I did a video on caring for jewelry. I talk about cleaning less than a minute in. Let me know if this helps! th-cam.com/video/YolZreLj5bs/w-d-xo.html

Haha, i used love white gold, so I asked my friend who is working at jewelry field to rode some of rings to white gold, now I love yellow gold, so I just have to wait the yellow color come out. I feel bad to ask her to do for me again.😂😂😂. Awesome video Jill. Thank You for sharing ❤️

That is the beauty of rhodium plating Irene. You can put it on and take it off any time you want to change the color. If you don't want to ask your friend to take it off just take it to any reputable jeweler. It shouldn't cost that much to take the rhodium plating off and then you will have the gold color that you really want.

I’m one of those that prefers white metals. I do wear gold, and even rose gold on occasion, but I always gravitate towards white. However, I don’t like white chocolate 😝

Simply, white gold is nikel or rhodium plated composite matter, which is also purely gold.

Oy! Why is platinum so beloved, then? More expensive than similar alloys of gold and yet also less sturdy? Why all the hype? Is it shinier than white gold?? This seems rather perplexing.
