What Is The Best Enclosure?

- Good Morning, Reptilians! I know this week’s video isn’t the most exciting, BUT I get a lot of questions about the different kinds of enclosures, so I thought I’d throw together a pros/cons list.

I definitely forgot screen enclosures so -
Pros:
They make it easier to keep humidity down
They can be used outside to let in sunlight
Very cheap to make OR you can find them at any pet store
Provide the maximum amount of ventilation for animals that need it (ex. chameleons, green anoles, etc)
Cons:
Don’t hold humidity, if you need humidity
Harder to hold in heat
Can be a little less secure, especially if you have things like cats or dogs.

I am so glad you mentioned snake discovery they are one of my favorite reptile TH-camrs other than you and cold blood creations also from time to time I will watch wicked reptiles
I prefer bins honestly :) I know they don’t necessarily look the prettiest but they’re cheaper and work really well and it’s super easy to design and make little holes in. I don’t have reptiles at the moment anymore (yet) but I have a beetle colony, two tarantulas, 2 jumping spiders, a green lynx spider, and a b lat roach and they’re all doing great in their enclosures :D
I need that out take to be a weekly thing. That song should be sung prior to each weekly shout-out announcement 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you are reptile likes fogged glass so much you can also get a fog background that are meant for fishtanks and you just simply apply it to the back of the tank and boom done!

Hi... I just started watching you. I watch Brian Barchyk too and i have learned do much from both if you. Wr just got 3 baby beardies... We have a 40 gallon tank and even through all my research i have learned more from watching your channel. My babies are amazing and last night we made a dubia roach container just like the one you showed. Love from Northern Michigan

Question and would like anyone’s opinion. I am changing my pvc enclosure for bearded dragon to topsoil and playsand (yes I sanitized it). Would I still need to use clean up crew if I will not be having plants? If so, which ones are recommended?
The clean up crew helps with mold, poop, etc. Isopods, springtails are the typical. You will need some type of leaf litter that will be safe for the bearded dragon but the clean up crew can hide under/eat.
I prefer terrariums like exo terra before a fish aquarium for a reptile I always prefer it to open from the front not the top
I have and use pretty much all the different types!!!! I love the exo terra though!!!!
Elle--one con you left out for acrylic conversions and acrylic tanks, is that over time the acrylic will scratch and haze up, especially if you have to use UVB lighting or top-down heating (heat lamps, etc.). You can sometimes mitigate this by being super careful when cleaning, using distilled water only for misting/cleaning/etc., but the UVB will eventually discolor the acrylic and the heat can warp and/or discolor it as well. Great list overall (I did note the lack of screen enclosures, but I saw you added them into the comments ;D). Thanks for all you do for the online reptile community, you are much appreciated by more folks than you know!

Currently the Aussie curl conditioner, Pattern leave in conditioner, and Deva Curl Ultra hold gel. And I put the leave in conditioner and gel in when it's wet. 😊
Where would you recommend to buy a normal bearded dragon from online?

Can you use the conversion kits to make a front opening tank by putting the tank on its long side rather than vertical for a leopard gecko?

I think tub VS tank is very dependent on where you live and what type of animal you have and what you’re using it for. I have all sorts of different things in very different enclosures. 2 of my ball pythons are in tanks but one ball python I have who is a rescue is in a tub because she wasn’t thriving in a tank so I adjusted my care accordingly love this video tho and love your channel!!

Would nit recommend its cheaper buts it a hussle to get heating and lighting right and its ugly

@@ellesreptiles I actually have a bearded dragon and currently deciding what type of enclosure should I upgrade to. This Video helped me. I would go with a DIY wooden enclosure with acrylic doors..

My enclosure lid is of course a screen but it is divided into 4 squares and now I need a new screen any ideas the tank is a 36 by 18 by 18
You can order standard replacement screens from Amazon or petstores. 😊

In your opinion what’s the best for a leopard gecko? Or an AFT gecko
I use just plain glass tanks for mine. My favorite for them is the front opening exo terra style tanks though 😊
Racks are for snake hoarders, if you can afford that many reptiles you can afford to put you reptiles in a better tank
