    Traveling with a newborn about a month after giving birth, because of a military move to a new duty station. Its a 4 hour flight- just wondering how long your flight was and if you considered bringing a portable bassinet? Tysm for the vid btw!

    • @therealnechama
      @therealnechama  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, what a whirlwind, good luck with your move and take it easy on yourself! This flight was 2.5 hours. We considered bringing the doona which is a stroller that folds up into a car seat but decided to check that at the gate and just hold her which was great because she was the most comfortable that way and slept most of the time! Especially because my husband and I took turns holding her, it didn’t feel too daunting. Between feeds and sleeps, newborns on a flight are an easier stage than most (now that I’ve experienced toddlerhood haha). Good luck, I hope it goes well!!

    Q: How did you guys strap baby in the car ride, does the stroller have a base ?

    • @therealnechama
      @therealnechama  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful!
      It does have a base and at home we use it but it was made to work safely without it too so you can travel with it and use it in cars wherever you are. Just make sure you read the side label or look up tutorials on securing it without the base. All the best!

  • @DiosaJairis
    @DiosaJairis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you need to take your doona base with you for traveling? We’re flying soon & not sure whether or not bringing the base is necessary.

    • @therealnechama
      @therealnechama  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To my knowledge (as well as what we practically did), no it's not necessary and is an extra hassle to bring. On the plane you definitely don't need it- the actual Doona fits perfectly into the seat. And in cars (wherever you're flying to) it is safe without the base as long as it's secured with the seatbelt properly and according to the instructions. Good luck!

  • @stephaniemarr9491

    I’m 36 weeks pregnant and my husband and I would love to take her abroad internationally at 4 weeks old, but we’re not sure when it comes to her immune system and shots. Did your baby have her shots before traveling? Did you need the ‘okay’ from your pediatrician?

    • @therealnechama
      @therealnechama  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow, congratulations! Safe labor and delivery! No but we did take her for her first appointment a few days after birth and then again a couple weeks later to make sure she was healthy and growing well. They had no problem with us flying. If your baby is healthy, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fly. But of course, go with your Mama instincts and feel free to check with your child's pediatrician and their recommendations beforehand if that makes you more comfortable!

    • @therealnechama

      All my mom friends recommended that so they're occupied and continuously swallowing during times which their ears may bother them like takeoff and landing. It worked beautifully for my daughter!

    how do we know that the stroller will be put on the airplane gate after disembarkment instead on the baggage claim? bcs i see in most cases, the stroller dropped in front of the gate shall be picked on the checked baggage claim.

    • @therealnechama
      @therealnechama  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get the gate check tag, they give it to you on the bridge. At least in my experience in the past almost 2 years flying with my baby, it’s never once not given to me on the bridge! You can always double check each time by asking it specifically comes out on the bridge.
