Did Russia have any involvement in iraq at the time? Like I know that most of Iraq's tanks and weapons were given to them by the Soviets but besides that I don't know of anything else they did besides watch the whole thing play out
@@djcokeisnotreal9810 no they had bigger issues, they were actively getting ready for the Soviet Union to break up but many were hopeful it would remain a tight federation of the former republics. When it was evident this wouldn't happen, the hardliners attempted a coup in August of 91. It failed and the Soviet Union was finished. There was a near civil war in 1993, and Boris Yeltsin became president. He had good relations with US but he was weak, drunk, and kinda dumb. Putin became president afterwards. He's been president since except for when his PM was president to fulfill the constitutional restrictions

So the story of Black Ops 6 could take place between the years 1990 and 2003/4, with 1990 being the beginning of the Gulf War, 1991 the end of the Gulf War, 2001 being 9/11 and 2003 the beginning of the invasion of Iraq (2003) and the subsequent occupation of Iraq (2004-2011) but the game basically ends in 2004
I immediately thought that the next Call of Duty or BO7 would discuss the 2003 war. because it is way more complicated, and the Gulf War was a preparation for it.
Early GWOT would be very cool, though im sure if they did have it during that time it wouldnt actually have anything to do with the GWOT.

@@erickrasniewski567 Russia technically was there during the Gulf War in 1991- the Soviet Union acted as mediator between the US- led coalition and Saddam's Iraq and helped towards brokering peace, possibly preventing Iraq being invaded fully once Kuwait was liberated.

I think if they really want to do what they said about being "Critical of both sides" in terms of this conflict in Black Ops 6, there needs to be some acknowledgement in the game about how the United States had funnel chemical weapons to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war. Something that was extremely controversial and even caused problems for US soldiers in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. I think it would be really interesting if in the story our CIA characters like Adler, Sims and whoever else have to reckon with the fact that they had a hand in Iraq being in the position they are in at the time of this game. And then further that by going forward to 9/11 and showing how they had to create evidence to frame Iraq as a country connected to Bin Laden and Al-Qaida, as well as being in possession of chemical weapon technology in order to justify and invasion and finish the job. Which would give Call of Duty a great sub series where you in fact are not the good guy. Just one of many different warring factions that are immoral in their own degrees. I think that would be really cool and it would be awesome to see maybe characters like Frank Woods and Alex Mason become really disillusioned with the CIA because of how badly they've been effing things up for a while. Realizing they too were just cogs in a machine. And this can play in perfectly because George H.W Bush at one point was CIA director and his biggest controversy was Iran-Contra. Something that I hoped would be touched upon in Cold War because it happened around the same time. I really hope this time around Black Ops 6 brings us back to a hard edge and being critical of actual government and intel agency malfeasance. Kinda like what we saw with Modern Warfare 2(2009).
BO 1 and 2, along with Cold War had some real life aspects to the gameplay. Real life events/missions, slightly changed for gameplay.

Honestly, it kinda feels like Powell is gonna fill in the role of Hudson for being the new handler, being all shady and vague with reasons behind certain black op mission, just like Hudson was near the end of Bo2, which as Inkslasher pointed out, the invasion of Panama City was directed by Powell.
well yes but Hudson was a boots on the ground operator - Powell was a coward wimp who ordered the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people from the comfort of his own home.
The guy in the sitting position at the end could be no one related to the game at all and could just be for the cover. Apparently since it’s a black guy, you automatically assume it’s either Sims or Bowman. It could be, but it’s more likely that the person is not related to the game what so ever and it’s just for the cover

And if im not mistaken, the guy that posed for a cover shoot is the same guy who voice acted Sims earlier. ALSO it's the first time we actually can see the face of cover guy. It doesn't really matter if it's him or not since he most likely will appear in the game

I think the story will be about Bowmans son or David Mason. From the trailer, it looks like the presidents are trying to tell Mason/Bowman something and the story could revolve around the panama mission from BO2
Hype af to hopefully see some DELTA characters. Bet the game picks up right after the end of Cold War, so late 80s to set the stage for the invasion.
Much of the history behind the Gulf War is deeper and crazier and if Treyarch actually implement some part of it into BO6 then this might be the best campaign in COD history.
I just had a theory I looked at the truth lies website and was thinking if you look at a couple of the podiums on channel 5 there's what looks like flags on them so I just got to thinking could black ops 6 have something to do with the middle east?

General Barkov invaded Urzikstan in 1999, since MW and Black ops are now connected I think this can be important
FYI, all the reasons you mentioned for Iraq's attack on Kuwait are true, but you forgot to mention that Kuwait broke their agreement and lowered oil prices, causing others to trade with Kuwait instead of Iraq, which affected Iraq's economy during the war. Additionally, Kuwait was stealing oil from Iraq's wells along the border between the two countries.
BO1 is my favorite COD because of the campaign and history. If they have something similar I'm interested again in COD, even tho I'm skeptical about the gameplay design, meta community, and goofiness of some content

While I agree the game will probably focus on the first Gulf War i think we might see some scenes and possible missions in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, and Chechnia. The Yugoslav wars started in '91 and lasted throughout the decade with NATO eventually playing a major role, Al Queda had their first major terrorist attack in '92 in Yemen and the first trade center bombing occurred in '93. Additionally the first Checen war started in '94 and within proximity within the area around Iraq. Im thinking we could see possible influence in all of these events from governments or even the black ops unit we will be in over the course of the games.
I think the black ops team in this might be Delta Force cause they did participate in the Gulf War
This sounds great! But the true narrative of the game could completely shift from this knowing that they get funding from certain partners and it'll take guts to cover such big events in the history of the United States
