I'm so glad you had a great safe tour, but to those who may be interested in doing the same crazy(not in a bad way, but yeah crazy) thing, I have to say that the rarely visited part of the great wall is rarely visited for a reason, it can get dangerous at night, almost like in a desert. Many parts do not even have signals, nor any other human beings, meaning no supplies and no way to get a rescue. It can get freezing cold at night and there are animals you don't want to meet. If you are devoted to doing this, bring redundant supplies, wear redundant clothing and bring defensive tools.

What a wonderful Great Wall ! It requires visitors to carry bricks from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain and maintain The Great Wall carefully. Since you both are good youtubers, I hope you can take the lead and at least carry a brick up. If you can't do that, you may donate money to buy bricks or hire people to carry brick up.
I just googled, it's not illegal to camp in the "wild/unmaintained great wall". but many people got injured every year by doing that. accidents include: fall, attack by wild animals, hit by lightening etc....
Chinese tourists prefer Badaling section, it takes an hour for traffic. You are hiking the Puloongshan and jinshanling, it's around 3.5 hours from Beijing .
I like that they kick you out at sunrise and take the tent away. They are pretty smart about how they do it, I have to admit. Good sense of humor, too.
I think sleeping in the Great Wall is illegal. The contractors of those homestays may have deceived you. You are lucky that the security guard just asked you to leave instead of calling the police and detaining you for 15 days. If this is true, I really hate these people who take your money and tell you can sleep in the Great Wall.
Wow, 20 min ago, I didn't even know people could actually camp on the Great Wall. That's pretty cool. The Great Wall, being so long, certainly would have parts that people could just get on. According to the regulations, you can't camp on some part of the Great Wall. It is mainly for your own safety. Like you said, when it is totally dark. Can you imagine waking up at night needing to go toilet? One wrong step could end up in serious injury. And there are venomous snakes around the area.

The Gubeikou Great Wall was built during the Ming Dynasty as part of the Great Wall’s defensive system to protect against invasions by northern nomadic tribes. Specifically, the construction of the Gubeikou Great Wall began in the early Ming Dynasty (late 14th century to early 15th century) and saw significant expansion and reinforcement during the reign of Emperor Yongle (Zhu Di).Although the area had Great Wall structures dating back to the Northern Qi period (around the 6th century), it was the construction and expansion during the Ming Dynasty that created the primary structure we see today.
01-Beijing's Great Wall tourism mainly includes the Badaling Great Wall and the Mutianyu Great Wall. Badaling is widely known throughout China, so it attracts a larger number of tourists. Mutianyu, on the other hand, is relatively quieter and has slightly fewer visitors, with a higher proportion of foreign tourists.
You guys are brave enough not to be fooled. The first time you go to the Great Wall, you can follow the local villagers who are not very regular to climb the Great Wall, and take unusual paths, so the place you go may be a place that few people know. As a Chinese, I am a little envious that you can find such a view position. When I went there before, I could only visit the Great Wall in a crowded location.
most of the regulations are for safety. some sections might be sealed off because it's dangerous to be walking on top of it. the fruit you had are mulberries.
I've been to several different parts of great wall, but this looks new for me. I think maybe the well-developed sites are too busy, so they chose this bit of the wall and got such a guide. The berry looks like mulberry. You can find in the UK too.
The Lindesay Brothers on TH-cam also operate private tour of the Great Wall. Since they are Brits and have been in the business since their father's time, communications should be less of an issue.

This part of the wall was built in the Ming Dynasty, roughly starting in the 14th Century, so not really the thousand year old construction. Enjoy the trip!
So …. it takes a 5 hour hike up steep mountainous terrain to get on that section of the Great Wall (one way), and you’re wondering why there’s no one else there ??? 😅😅😅. I’m sure my Dad with a bum knee or my Mom with a bad back would absolutely want to go for a 10 hour return mountain hike ! Jokes aside, I visited the Great Wall at one of the most popular (and highly visited) parts of the in 2007, accompanied by huge crowds of tourists. No thank you!. I would absolutely love to visit the wild parts of the a Great Wall as you have, ie. the overgrown, unrestored parts which due to their state are much more remote, less touristy, where you can appreciate the quiet majesty of the wall, it’s beautiful natural surrounds, and the fact that they managed to build something over the most insane mountains, and it’s still standing 2,000 years later!
It seems like you visited an unrestored and undeveloped section of the Great Wall, known in China as the "Wild Great Wall." It must be a fascinating experience; many Chinese people haven't had the chance to go there, and I must say I'm envious.
This didnt look like an "official" tour, tbh it feels like an independent rural homestay listed on a popular tourist website; the guide likely only took you up to camp after sunset because the site is closed, the locals usually know paths you get up the wall to avoid being seen, and yea they woke you up at 5AM because they know they gonna get in trouble lmao, glad you guys are safe tho.
I don't think this is a liscenced tour, but rather a tourist trap for foreigners. The tour guide was definitely not professional nor a licenced guide. They seemed to be local farmers or villager, who also run a little restaurant or taxi and make money on tourists. The place you went was definately the non-touristic part of the Great Wall, or even abandoned part. Luckily, you guys did not encounter any troubles. I do not recommend forgeiners to take the similar tours like this. It can be dangerous. Anyway, I hope you have a safe and joyful trip in my home country.
They are adults, why don't they take responsibility for themselves? All information they can find easily in internet or hotel. They are lucky. But the villagers can't sleep well. Why not compensate the elder man and lady for their physical and mental loss after they climb such steep mountain for whole night, just for finding foreigners as soon as possible? Englishmen need safety, don’t the chinese elderly need safety ?

Thanks for posting this extraordinary experience. Some of us oldies aren’t able to do these adventures any more and so enjoy doing them vicariously through you and other brave and intrepid travelers. 👍👍👍👏👏👏
This was an amazing video and you guys

Camping on the Great Wall built 2000 years ago is so amazing 🎉🎉🎉 What an experience. Thank you for sharing your adventure in China❤❤❤
Brilliant ... camping on it is genius.. I've walked along it, some experience..
Feels like you guys are the first youtuber to camp on the great well, you guys are so brave!!
I remember two British lads did a series traveling the whole distance of the Great Wall during covid.

This is the most fun China touring video that I have ever seen. Feel like an adventure :)
The scene is so beautiful up there. 🎉🎉🎉
Did the same hike at 金山岭twice in my life. The 2nd one stayed overnight and caught a really beautiful sunrise. Great memories. 金山岭is the best place to avoid crowds.
The Great Wall is not nature and it is not your play area. If you want to take venture, go to other countries. Your suggestion will make trouble for Chinese.
長城不是大自然,不是你的玩樂區,要冒險到其他國家去,你的建議是給中國人添亂.

The best way is to establish more tourist spots and safe camps and ask them to go there to enjoy an equally fantastic but safer experience. That is also good for the tourism industry.
Camping on the Great Wall is illegal, so the guide asked you to leave before 5am in case of being found and fined by the officials

wow, You guys are so adventurous! Camping on the Great Wall is a fantastic idea. There are many travel vlogs about the Great Wall, but hardly any about camping there.
在长城上露营可能不太美妙,而且有蛇,甚至可能遭受雷击,珍惜生命,伙计
We'd like to suggest you do not try camping for your own safety. The snakes are venomous, and there is a chance of getting struck by lighting. It can get freezing cold at night. A lot of the comments have mentioned the incident with the Japanese tourists. That is the reason the old man, who is a maintenance guy, asked the guide to wrap the tent and leave.
Even I am a Chinese, I haven't explorer china and great wall like this, u must proud of yourself
Amazing place with rich history
The Great Wall you photographed is so beautiful! thank you
哈哈哈~~~这是古代时候,士兵用来守卫和瞭望的堡垒,肯定不舒服~~~
Can't lick the Great Wall? Nonsense. It's household known fact in China that the Great Wall tastes salty in summer and sweet in winter.

Awesome, thanks for watching and welcome to the Chanel ☺️
Camping on the Great Wall is such a unique experience, it’s crazy
Is like 👍🏻 heaven. You guys lucky 🍀 ❤. You guys doing great job 👏🏻.
Glad you guys enjoyed there. but for the other people who want to camp there, just keep in mind that the dangerous things happened in the past, either the fierce snake, or wild tiger, even the lightning hitting.
It was such a steep mountain road that it took two elderly administrators to climb up with lights on for several hours to find them, making it impossible for the elderly to sleep peacefully. They did a big wrong thing. Not gladful for chinese at all. 🤬🤬
Lucky you!!!
Camping on the wall might get strictly banned soon, you guys caught the tail🤣
The wild wall can be very dangerous, every year, someone dies on some parts of the wall, so the rules are getting stricter.
There's a certain part called "eagle look back", even a rescue team member died there, and that part is now under a total ban.

It was an amazing adventure you guys had to hike and camp on the Wild Great Wall of China! So glad you made this video to make the world to see the views and the amazing experience you had in China! ❤❤❤
It didn’t take many pictures of the Great Wall scenery in China, right?
makes me feel nostalgic, i lived in beijing for almost 13 years and went hiking on the great wall around beijing almost every weekend.
one big regret, i never camped there and took pictures of sunsets and sunrises.
The fruit that you received and ate appear to be mulberries. I have had them once or twice before. They're a great, mildly-sweet fruit.
It’s soo cool! Keep up your adventure guys!
U deserve way more subscribers.
Geez, You guys are brave! There are wild animals there up in the ruins, rats, snakes, etc. .
These parts are monitored and maintained by the local people, who could charge a fee to provide a bit of tailor-made off-the-beaten-path kind of tour. Glad you guys found something like that. I should look into one as well.
As a Chinese, I've never seen the great view of the Great Wall, that is so amazing! Thank u for sharing this video and let me have the opportunity to see the beauty of China and hope you guys have a happy and safe tour in China.😍
OMG!can't believe that you camped on Great Wall!which section you went? i went to Badaling Great Wall a few days ago,and there was very crowded😂

@@Joelfriend yes, absolutely! the scenery in Badaling is wonderful too! Climbing to the top was such an great achievement for me!maybe i will go to Gubeikou section in the future!
you are right about the camping. Your guide probably has no licence for tourists camping on the Great Wall and she took you to an area where camping is not allowed. According to the regulations, you can't camp on some part of the Great Wall. It is mainly for your own safety. Like you said, when it is totally dark. Can you imagine waking up at night needing to go toilet? One wrong step could end up in serious injury. And there are venomous snakes around the area.
17:13 it would be super hot in the daytime. So farmers would start the work as early as possible, and return home at about 9am then work on household.
recommend to have a trip"望仙谷" in JiangXi province and "乌镇" in ZheJiang province. all these locations recommend ex to have in weekday
Cool experience! It seems that you camped in the "wild" part of the Great wall, which is not officially open to the public.
You guys did what most of Chinese haven't done, visited a part of the Great Wall that has not be opened for the public. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your adventure at the Great Wall.😃😃
because this is against the rules and will cause damage to yourself and the wall which is a world heritage.
7:40 Those look like mulberries which come in many different colors and sizes and shapes. Next time get video close ups of the fruit on the plant with the leaves and the plant coming out of the ground for structure so it can be identified. If you learn plants, you can discover a lot about the world and learn about each country and microclimate. Fruits and vegetables are a good starting point.
Wow the drone shots of the Great Wall are truly amazing.
One secret to increasing access and attention is to make subtitles in both Chinese and English and upload them on Bilibili or TikTok. Because China has a very large group of people who need to learn English. And people like to learn English and enjoy traveling and eating at the same time.[愉快]
Then they immediately arrested by the Beijing police. 🥱
Congratulations on your Sleep on the Wall. Incredible indeed.
the beauty of greatwall in nature..there's totally different view in the west part . try it..
Cool experience! Breathtaking view in the 5am morning!
7:31 This is Mulberry. The leaves can be used to raise silkworms.
This is amazing!! Way better than going to the touristy parts.
most of the regulations are for safety. some sections might be sealed off because it's dangerous to be walking on top of it. the fruit you had are mulberries.
I've been to several different parts of great wall, but this looks new for me. I think maybe the well-developed sites are too busy, so they chose this bit of the wall and got such a guide. The berry looks like mulberry. You can find in the UK too.
13:20 that’s so cool! I’m a Chinese and I’ve been to the Great Wall, but never camped there!
The most famous part of the Great Wall is in Beijing Badaling, which huge amounts of people go on every day
What a beautiful camping experience on the great wall

WOW! That’s amazing. Can you post a link of where to find this tour? Thank you
The Lindesay Brothers on TH-cam also operate private tour of the Great Wall. Since they are Brits and have been in the business since their father's time, communications should be less of an issue.
In fact, the part of the Great Wall with 2000 years of history is not located in Beijing. You are welcome to visit Shandong next time!
Did you guys use a drone for the aerial shots? Very entertaining and informative video!
Perhaps it is the only country in the world that can write the vision of "Long live the great unity of the people of the world" on its landmark buildings. And this has been adhered to for more than 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China ~ Tian'anmen ~ China
❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my, I think yours trip to Great Wall was very creative! Very few Chinese will go this way. I even have no idea you can camp on GW, lol
You guys are so brave camping on the wall!
It seems like you visited an unrestored and undeveloped section of the Great Wall, known in China as the "Wild Great Wall." It must be a fascinating experience; many Chinese people haven't had the chance to go there, and I must say I'm envious.
Thank you this volg let me see I have never seen before…
This didnt look like an "official" tour, tbh it feels like an independent rural homestay listed on a popular tourist website; the guide likely only took you up to camp after sunset because the site is closed, the locals usually know paths you get up the wall to avoid being seen, and yea they woke you up at 5AM because they know they gonna get in trouble lmao, glad you guys are safe tho.
Westerners like to against law without getting pay, right? So many youtube viewers are happy for their illegal act…
Wow I really want meet you in BeiJing! I think you should taste some local dish in the contryside. Maybe that can have some new experience in your trip.
