History lesson: The year was 538 A.D. and the Emperor of Rome was Justinain, and the General of his army was Belsarius, who was fighting the Ostrogoths, one of the ten remnant kingdoms after 476 A.D. at the gates of Rome. The Bishop of Rome was Silvanus, who was said to be a man of God, but he refused to open the gates to either army. Then the queen, who was said to be a devoted Christain, was petitioned by Justinain and Belsarius to persuade the bishop to open the city gates, which he did, but he was unaware of the plan that Justinain and his General made previously to arrest him and replace him with one who was more like them. History tells that they did just that, and also placed upon bishop Vigilius the Roman emperor's sceptre and the title of Pontifex Maximus, which they all claimed from emperor Constantine. This is the account of the revealing of the son of perdition, and birth of the Little Horn antichrist power. The Ostrogoths, the Heruli, and the Vandals, where all exterminated. This 'little' horn is the same beast that came up from out of the sea, and the woman (Jezebel) who rides the seven headed beast in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. She would be diverse from all others in that she claimed the power of both church and state for one thousand, two hundred and threescore years. She also persecuted the saints of Christ during that time we know of today, as the dark ages. It took another emperor in Napoleon, and another General, to take back the temporal sword, that Justinain had bestowed on her in 538 A.D. Exactly one thousand, two hundred and threescore years later in 1798 A.D. which is the same as a time, and a times, and the dividing of time (a half of time), which is the same as 42 months. Seven times in the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation are we given this prophecy of the time of the Little Horn. God does not want us to get this wrong, for if we don't know who the antichrist beast is, then we will except his mark of authority. This is when the beast was put into captivity, and prophecy tells us that this wound will be healed, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into perdition, after the deadly wound is healed.
My first true Bible study in my 58 years of life just because of a reply to a post of friend of mine on Facebook . Obviously that small quip inspired me to pick up a bible and start reading about Daniel. Not really understanding what I was reading I thought man I need help with this dream and what it meant ! I was 63 before I ever read the Bible. The first book I read was Daniel. It can be a difficult book but worth the effort. I’m still studying Daniel 18 months later. Good Luck with your studies.

After Nebuchadnezzar II there were many other kings inferior to him. The Silver kingdom is the babylonian kingdom after Nebuchadnezzar II. The Medo-Persian empire was not inferior to Nebuchadnezzar II and it embraced most of the known world, Bronze. Then we have Alexander (iron) and the fraction of its empire (feet). Your explanation is kinda what a christian would like it to be
From historical standpoint, im trying to understand the transition from Greek empire to Roman dominance. I assume Alexander was sort of the turning point of the fall of Greece to Rome? And the hellenistic period was the rise of Rome? So was was Socrates and Aristotle basically the end and the beginning of that transitional period? Just trying to piece together that part of history. We would recommend any text book on the history of western society. In a nutshell, Alexander the Great is the pivot point between the Medo Persian Empire and the Greek/Macedonian Empire. Alexander defeats Darius III at the battle of Gaugamela on Oct 1, 331 B.C. However, Alexandar dies shortly thereafter and his kingdom is split up by his generals, viz, Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus, and Ptolemy. Over time there would emerge two dominant kingdoms, the Seleucid and the Ptolmaic. They would last until the Rome emerges victor at the Battle of Pydna in 168 B.C. (Socrates lived approximately 100 years before Alexander the Great, however, Alexander was a student of Aristotle) Here is something to consider. The book of Daniel predicted Alexander's conquest and the split between his four generals approximately 200 years before it happened. What country is this kingdom UNDER heaven ( nation ?) And who are THE PEOPLE ? “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. The issue I have with that relating to Caesar Augustus, is that it says within a few days he will be shattered. Augustus ruled for 40 years. Can you please explain that?
Thanks for your question. It's a good one. One aspect to keep mind when examining Daniel 11 is to first understand the framework (which we address in our Daniel 8, 9, and 10 videos). The short answer is that there is chronological time period that begins in Daniel 11:1 that runs from about 538 B.C to the mid nineteenth century A.D. (verse 40). That's well over 2000+ years. With that in mind, Augustus only rules for a few days across this prophetic landscape. Thanks again for your question.

I'm Speaking of the Messiah and no not the of the Man of 2000 years ago that was not the Messiah that was God Himself. Just read John Chapter 14 verse 9 or John Chapter 20 verse 28. In Daniel Chapter 2 Verses 34,35 and 45 God uses The Messiah which he made out of a Piece of a Mountain Rock (Man Was Made From The Dust Of The Earth) to Destroy America. Well this even already took place 23 years what we call 911. The 2 Feet Iron Mixed with Clay is The Uned States 1 Country and the other America is another Country. Rome was known as the Kingdom of Iron a Republic well the Republican Party is America (The Iron are The Non Humans) and the Democrats are the leftovers from the Greek Empire who are the Clay (Humans were made out of Clay) these are the 2 Feet in Daniel Chapter 2. And now iits all over as of the year 2000 just as Daniel Chapter 2 saids would happen. And yes that stone has been in N.Y.C. growing by the day for over 23 years now that is the Messiah. America ended where it began N.Y.C. and from N.Y.C. a new worldwide Kingdom has already been born and people have no idea.
Have you considered that "potter's clay" could be Jewish influence? For example the high priest, Caiaphas, had a position of power even though not a Roman leader, they had some type of political agreement... And that possibly continues today. What you say also makes sense, but the fact that it's iron mixed with "potter's clay" makes me wonder.
Excellent presentation, though once we begin to focus on what the text does not focus on (ten toes) I think we become overly creative. The coming of the messiah and the cross and the pouring out of the spirit.... this was not a parenthetical thought.
Thanks for the feedback. We generally agree that we shouldn't push the symbolism too far in any part of Bible prophecy. However, we don't see it as very creative to conclude that feet typically have ten toes. The text of the Bible says "feet and toes" (v41) and "toes of the feet" (v42). Why should this matter? Because the Daniel 2 pattern of ten repeats itself in Daniel 7 where the fourth beast has ten horns. Bible prophecy repeats and expands. This enables us to confidently advance in knowledge of the symbolism and what it means.

Where is the United States in all this? I know our ancestry is from all over the world. Mostly Western Europe but where are we in all this. also what about the British Empire?? They were also a big deal.

I believe the British Empire described as the feet partly made of Iron. Like its predecessor the Roman Empire which is described as The legs made of Iron. The British Empire was formerly a province of the Roman Empire. And USA is The Feet partly made of Clay which has a different form of government from its predecessor, its leader is elected from the general public unlike the previous empires chosen according to the descendants of the King.

Yes. You are correct. Alexander the Great wasn’t much of a succession planner. After his death at the peak of his military conquests, his four Generals, viz. Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus, and Ptolemy divided the kingdom for themselves. However, over time, Selecus and Ptolemy would become the dominant powers which by around 300 B.C. essentially resulted in the Selucid (north) and Ptolemaic (south) Kingdoms. Rome was still in its infancy at that time. Rome gained momentum through the Punic (the south) and Macedonian (the east) wars. Rome became the dominate world power at the battle of Pydna by 168 B.C. Any western history book will go into much greater detail about this transition.

Could the two arms represent Medo-Persia? Yes, however, we need to be careful how hard we push on the symbolism when it is first introduced. For example, in Daniel 7 Medo-Persia is represented by a bear with one side higher than the other. History attests that Persia would eventually grow stronger than Media. Also, in Daniel 8, there are two horns on a ram. One is longer than the other. Again, underscoring that Persia grew stronger. Looking back at the metal man image and saying the two arms are Media-Persia is OK. However, to be entirely consistent with Daniel 7 and 8, shouldn’t one arm be larger or longer than the other? Obviously the text doesn’t say this, however that does not negate the fact that there are two arms and that the silver kingdom was a joint rule by Medo-Persia. Ok. What about Rome? Well, Rome did split into East and West at the direction of Diocletian in the late 2nd century. Each had an Emperor. One in the East and one in the West. Could east and west be symbolized by the two legs. Sure. History makes this clear. Having said all that, we just need to be careful how hard we push on the symbolism and don’t overreach in our conclusions when we study the prophecies.

I am not sure the feet are to be understood as a separate empire from Rome. The their weakness is the intermingling of tribes of peoples is also exactly the major reason of Rome's weakness. Daniel seems to refer to them as one and the "end times" as the time the Messiah ushers in the Kingdom of God. In other words, I do not think Daniel is predicting the future for us in 2, but the coming of Christ.
In Daniel 2, God is laying out His timeline of successive world kingdoms which ultimately culminates in the second coming of Christ and the establishment of His eternal kingdom. The revelation of those successive world kingdoms is another example of historicism in that we can know where we fall in God's prophetic timeline. Historicism builds on the patterns of the past to comfort God's people in the present, and prepares them for the future. Daniel 2 is indeed important in predicting the successive world kingdoms because that pattern is repeated and expanded in Daniel 7, 8, and 11. God wants us to know exactly where we are in prophetic history. He does this so that we can be ready for the soon return of Christ.
Greetings. I have been wanting to study prophecy for some time but kept starting and stopping. Since this COVID 19 I confess to being inspired to start again. This was a terribly useful commentary and I've watched quite a few over the past weeks and this one is very clear and easy to follow. Here's my question.....the feet of iron and clay. Have no proof of course but shouldn't the mixture of the "iron" and the clay be suggestive that it is remnants of the IRON kingdom that has mixed with other kingdoms not as strong and forceful as the iron kingdom but a kingdoms in their own right???
Yes, that is exactly right. The Iron kingdom continues and tries to mix with other kingdoms, so to speak. We address this more in part 3 of the Daniel 2 study and in our Daniel 7 study. The kingdom of gold , silver, bronse and iron has done, kingdom of iron , the one who first iron industry, made a boat out of iron, now we are in the kingdom of iron and clay, meaning the weapons made of iron, and clay meaning those who grown out of clay, such as wheat, corn and others in short grain
I like how you cross reference the bible with history books to get a better idea of what each of these segments are. If the clay is the E.U, does that mean it's typically a bad thing or just a figurative of current world powers?
The prophecy of Daniel 2 is to demonstrate that God knows the beginning from the end and that while world kingdoms only exist for short time period, God's kingdom will be eternal and will have dominion forever. However, the kingdoms of this world have never been favorable towards Christianity. While world kingdoms are represented by the image of a man (statue/idol), they are represented as beasts in Daniel 7. They have been known to persecute and oppress God's people. (note: that's not to say that all the rulers of the kingdoms of this world have been unfavorable towards ancient Israel or Christians over the ages. Hi there anyone here have any ideas on the books by Joel Richardson ie mystery Babylon.. Islamic anti Christ..mid East beast etc... He is a good teacher and speaker and author and his books are very good... I was wondering what anyone thought about his teaching and his answers definitely meet the scriptures he gives reference to.. Richardson is spot on. Daniel's legs of iron = John's 7th empire. The healed re-created 7th empire are the feet mixed with iron and clay. Rome is nowhere to be found...

Well, since the Book of Daniel was written ,164 BC, by sevrel authors due to the Antiochian prosecution, that wasent such a wonderful profetia after all? And Rom had been established since 509 BC, so the authors of the Book of Daniel would have known pretty much how the political scenery looked like and what players that could be EXPECTED, and No dream of Nebukadnessar , interpretaded by Joseph is known earlier than 164 BC..
How would you explain the legs of iron transitioning into the feet of iron and clay? That is, if as you posit, Rome was already in existence at the time the prophecy was written, why does the author depart from the hard line transition between the gold, silver, bronze, and iron, and then make the iron transition into iron and clay (which is not a metal)? Shouldn't they simply make a clean break (so to speak) with another metal? Why the transition to another material like clay which is of a markedly different type of substance? Why would they introduce a mixture of metal and clay for the feet? The answer is that it was beyond their comprehension. How could they have known that Rome would not fall like the other kingdoms? There is no way they could have fathomed that over time the Germanic tribes of Europe would gradually assimilate through various immigrations (and invasions) and which would lead to the successor states/nations of the Roman Empire, that is, namely Europe. The making of Europe was a combination of the culture and legacy of Greece and Rome which included both the customs and traditions of the Germanic peoples and the Christian faith (which largely absorbed and assimilated the other two). It's an incredible stretch and act of faith to believe they had the insights to make this part of their narrative. The only way to explain the prophecy is that it came from God to Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel. And not in the second century B.C. as you posit, but on God's timing and sovereignty in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar (circa 603-602 B.C.). We should closely examine these prophecies. They are a direct revelation from God and demonstrate His wisdom and power to know the end from the beginning. Consider watching our series. The basic framework of Daniel 2 is repeated in Daniel 7, 8, and 11. More details are revealed and enables us to understand our place in prophetic history such that we can know with certainty that we are living in the final days of earth's history before the second coming of Jesus Christ (the stone that will strike all earthly nations). Based upon the patterns of Daniel 2, 7, 8, 11 and the three angels' messages in Revelation 14 culminating in the mark of the beast, it simply doesn't fit. Only someone from the 6th century B.C. and well versed in Babylonian affairs could have provided the historical facts found in the book of Daniel. Without even going into that evidence, simply read the words of Jesus in Matthew 24. Jesus Himself credits Daniel as the author of the book. Since Jesus credits Daniel as the author, we know the book was written in the 6th Century B.C. Jesus is all knowing and all wise. Why would He attribute the book to Daniel (who lived in the 6th century) if it wasn't true. Another point to consider. If the book of Daniel was written at the time of Jesus, why does the author of the book of Daniel use gold, silver, bronze, and iron and then switch to iron and clay for the last part of the statue? No one could have foresight to predict the legs of iron (Rome) and its transition to the successor states of the Roman Empire. Given that that event would not happen until after 476 A.D. is an amazing prediction for someone in the first century. We respectfully disagree with your conclusion that the book of Daniel was written in the first century. Christians do not need to doubt the wisdom and omniscience of the divine God who can tell the end from the beginning. We should expect it.

Europe is the ten kings, the little horn of Papal Rome is the seat of the antichrist.
History lesson:
The year was 538 A.D. and the Emperor of Rome was Justinain, and the General of his army was Belsarius, who was fighting the Ostrogoths, one of the ten remnant kingdoms after 476 A.D. at the gates of Rome.
The Bishop of Rome was Silvanus, who was said to be a man of God, but he refused to open the gates to either army.
Then the queen, who was said to be a devoted Christain, was petitioned by Justinain and Belsarius to persuade the bishop to open the city gates, which he did, but he was unaware of the plan that Justinain and his General made previously to arrest him and replace him with one who was more like them.
History tells that they did just that, and also placed upon bishop Vigilius the Roman emperor's sceptre and the title of Pontifex Maximus, which they all claimed from emperor Constantine.
This is the account of the revealing of the son of perdition, and birth of the Little Horn antichrist power.
The Ostrogoths, the Heruli, and the Vandals, where all exterminated.
This 'little' horn is the same beast that came up from out of the sea, and the woman (Jezebel) who rides the seven headed beast in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
She would be diverse from all others in that she claimed the power of both church and state for one thousand, two hundred and threescore years.
She also persecuted the saints of Christ during that time we know of today, as the dark ages.
It took another emperor in Napoleon, and another General, to take back the temporal sword, that Justinain had bestowed on her in 538 A.D.
Exactly one thousand, two hundred and threescore years later in 1798 A.D. which is the same as a time, and a times, and the dividing of time (a half of time), which is the same as 42 months. Seven times in the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation are we given this prophecy of the time of the Little Horn.
God does not want us to get this wrong, for if we don't know who the antichrist beast is, then we will except his mark of authority.
This is when the beast was put into captivity, and prophecy tells us that this wound will be healed, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into perdition, after the deadly wound is healed.

Daniel chapter 2 is indeed the key to the most important prophecies about the endtime. We have no reason to remain in darkness.

I really love this perspective of the Christian origins from a historical and lecture. Nebuchadnezzar was quite upset
He had a disturbing dream
The royal King didn't understand it
He called on his counseling team
They asked him to tell the dream
They would explain to him what it means
The king said no, I want an explanation
After you tell me the dream
The advisors were confused and said to the king

Then death to you all is the task
The commander of the king's guard went out

After Nebuchadnezzar II there were many other kings inferior to him. The Silver kingdom is the babylonian kingdom after Nebuchadnezzar II. The Medo-Persian empire was not inferior to Nebuchadnezzar II and it embraced most of the known world, Bronze. Then we have Alexander (iron) and the fraction of its empire (feet).

From historical standpoint, im trying to understand the transition from Greek empire to Roman dominance. I assume Alexander was sort of the turning point of the fall of Greece to Rome? And the hellenistic period was the rise of Rome?
So was was Socrates and Aristotle basically the end and the beginning of that transitional period?

We would recommend any text book on the history of western society. In a nutshell, Alexander the Great is the pivot point between the Medo Persian Empire and the Greek/Macedonian Empire. Alexander defeats Darius III at the battle of Gaugamela on Oct 1, 331 B.C. However, Alexandar dies shortly thereafter and his kingdom is split up by his generals, viz, Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus, and Ptolemy. Over time there would emerge two dominant kingdoms, the Seleucid and the Ptolmaic. They would last until the Rome emerges victor at the Battle of Pydna in 168 B.C.
(Socrates lived approximately 100 years before Alexander the Great, however, Alexander was a student of Aristotle)
Here is something to consider. The book of Daniel predicted Alexander's conquest and the split between his four generals approximately 200 years before it happened. The issue I have with that relating to Caesar Augustus, is that it says within a few days he will be shattered. Augustus ruled for 40 years. Can you please explain that?
Thanks for your question. It's a good one. One aspect to keep mind when examining Daniel 11 is to first understand the framework (which we address in our Daniel 8, 9, and 10 videos). The short answer is that there is chronological time period that begins in Daniel 11:1 that runs from about 538 B.C to the mid nineteenth century A.D. (verse 40). That's well over 2000+ years. With that in mind, Augustus only rules for a few days across this prophetic landscape. Thanks again for your question.

What he missed is where America is in Daniel Chapter 2 as well as the Last world Empire. I'm surprised he missed that he looks like a smart guy.
One cannot extract those details in Daniel 2 alone. All those details are explained in our Revelation 13 video.

I'm Speaking of the Messiah and no not the of the Man of 2000 years ago that was not the Messiah that was God Himself. Just read John Chapter 14 verse 9 or John Chapter 20 verse 28. In Daniel Chapter 2 Verses 34,35 and 45 God uses The Messiah which he made out of a Piece of a Mountain Rock (Man Was Made From The Dust Of The Earth) to Destroy America. Well this even already took place 23 years what we call 911. The 2 Feet Iron Mixed with Clay is The Uned States 1 Country and the other America is another Country. Rome was known as the Kingdom of Iron a Republic well the Republican Party is America (The Iron are The Non Humans) and the Democrats are the leftovers from the Greek Empire who are the Clay (Humans were made out of Clay) these are the 2 Feet in Daniel Chapter 2. And now iits all over as of the year 2000 just as Daniel Chapter 2 saids would happen. And yes that stone has been in N.Y.C. growing by the day for over 23 years now that is the Messiah. America ended where it began N.Y.C. and from N.Y.C. a new worldwide Kingdom has already been born and people have no idea.
Have you considered that "potter's clay" could be Jewish influence? For example the high priest, Caiaphas, had a position of power even though not a Roman leader, they had some type of political agreement... And that possibly continues today. What you say also makes sense, but the fact that it's iron mixed with "potter's clay" makes me wonder.

Excellent presentation, though once we begin to focus on what the text does not focus on (ten toes) I think we become overly creative. The coming of the messiah and the cross and the pouring out of the spirit.... this was not a parenthetical thought.
Thanks for the feedback. We generally agree that we shouldn't push the symbolism too far in any part of Bible prophecy. However, we don't see it as very creative to conclude that feet typically have ten toes. The text of the Bible says "feet and toes" (v41) and "toes of the feet" (v42). Why should this matter? Because the Daniel 2 pattern of ten repeats itself in Daniel 7 where the fourth beast has ten horns. Bible prophecy repeats and expands. This enables us to confidently advance in knowledge of the symbolism and what it means.
@@AngelsintheGlen Excellent answer. While I do understand these prophecies to be fulfilled entirely in the Messiah's coming in the first century, your appeal to Daniel 7 (and potentially Rev 17) is good.
Where is the United States in all this? I know our ancestry is from all over the world. Mostly Western Europe but where are we in all this. also what about the British Empire?? They were also a big deal.

US is the second beast of Revelations, while the first one is Europe
I believe the British Empire described as the feet partly made of Iron. Like its predecessor the Roman Empire which is described as The legs made of Iron. The British Empire was formerly a province of the Roman Empire. And USA is The Feet partly made of Clay which has a different form of government from its predecessor, its leader is elected from the general public unlike the previous empires chosen according to the descendants of the King.

Yes. You are correct. Alexander the Great wasn’t much of a succession planner. After his death at the peak of his military conquests, his four Generals, viz. Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus, and Ptolemy divided the kingdom for themselves. However, over time, Selecus and Ptolemy would become the dominant powers which by around 300 B.C. essentially resulted in the Selucid (north) and Ptolemaic (south) Kingdoms. Rome was still in its infancy at that time. Rome gained momentum through the Punic (the south) and Macedonian (the east) wars. Rome became the dominate world power at the battle of Pydna by 168 B.C. Any western history book will go into much greater detail about this transition.

Could the two arms represent Medo-Persia? Yes, however, we need to be careful how hard we push on the symbolism when it is first introduced. For example, in Daniel 7 Medo-Persia is represented by a bear with one side higher than the other. History attests that Persia would eventually grow stronger than Media. Also, in Daniel 8, there are two horns on a ram. One is longer than the other. Again, underscoring that Persia grew stronger. Looking back at the metal man image and saying the two arms are Media-Persia is OK. However, to be entirely consistent with Daniel 7 and 8, shouldn’t one arm be larger or longer than the other? Obviously the text doesn’t say this, however that does not negate the fact that there are two arms and that the silver kingdom was a joint rule by Medo-Persia. Ok. What about Rome? Well, Rome did split into East and West at the direction of Diocletian in the late 2nd century. Each had an Emperor. One in the East and one in the West. Could east and west be symbolized by the two legs. Sure. History makes this clear. Having said all that, we just need to be careful how hard we push on the symbolism and don’t overreach in our conclusions when we study the prophecies.

I am not sure the feet are to be understood as a separate empire from Rome. The their weakness is the intermingling of tribes of peoples is also exactly the major reason of Rome's weakness. Daniel seems to refer to them as one and the "end times" as the time the Messiah ushers in the Kingdom of God. In other words, I do not think Daniel is predicting the future for us in 2, but the coming of Christ.
In Daniel 2, God is laying out His timeline of successive world kingdoms which ultimately culminates in the second coming of Christ and the establishment of His eternal kingdom. The revelation of those successive world kingdoms is another example of historicism in that we can know where we fall in God's prophetic timeline. Historicism builds on the patterns of the past to comfort God's people in the present, and prepares them for the future.
Daniel 2 is indeed important in predicting the successive world kingdoms because that pattern is repeated and expanded in Daniel 7, 8, and 11. God wants us to know exactly where we are in prophetic history. He does this so that we can be ready for the soon return of Christ.
Greetings. I have been wanting to study prophecy for some time but kept starting and stopping. Since this COVID 19 I confess to being inspired to start again. This was a terribly useful commentary and I've watched quite a few over the past weeks and this one is very clear and easy to follow. Here's my question.....the feet of iron and clay. Have no proof of course but shouldn't the mixture of the "iron" and the clay be suggestive that it is remnants of the IRON kingdom that has mixed with other kingdoms not as strong and forceful as the iron kingdom but a kingdoms in their own right???
Yes, that is exactly right. The Iron kingdom continues and tries to mix with other kingdoms, so to speak. We address this more in part 3 of the Daniel 2 study and in our Daniel 7 study. The kingdom of gold , silver, bronse and iron has done, kingdom of iron , the one who first iron industry, made a boat out of iron, now we are in the kingdom of iron and clay, meaning the weapons made of iron, and clay meaning those who grown out of clay, such as wheat, corn and others in short grain
I like how you cross reference the bible with history books to get a better idea of what each of these segments are. If the clay is the E.U, does that mean it's typically a bad thing or just a figurative of current world powers?
The prophecy of Daniel 2 is to demonstrate that God knows the beginning from the end and that while world kingdoms only exist for short time period, God's kingdom will be eternal and will have dominion forever. However, the kingdoms of this world have never been favorable towards Christianity. While world kingdoms are represented by the image of a man (statue/idol), they are represented as beasts in Daniel 7. They have been known to persecute and oppress God's people. Hi there anyone here have any ideas on the books by Joel Richardson ie mystery Babylon.. Islamic anti Christ..mid East beast etc... He is a good teacher and speaker and author and his books are very good... I was wondering what anyone thought about his teaching and his answers definitely meet the scriptures he gives reference to.. But i don't have a good enough eschatological knowledge to make a decision on it all. However I would be greatful to hear from Christians who have any ideas on it please.. thanks Jamie!
Richardson is spot on. Daniel's legs of iron = John's 7th empire. The healed re-created 7th empire are the feet mixed with iron and clay. Rome is nowhere to be found...

Well, since the Book of Daniel was written ,164 BC, by sevrel authors due to the Antiochian prosecution, that wasent such a wonderful profetia after all? And Rom had been established since 509 BC, so the authors of the Book of Daniel would have known pretty much how the political scenery looked like and what players that could be EXPECTED, and No dream of Nebukadnessar , interpretaded by Joseph is known earlier than 164 BC..
How would you explain the legs of iron transitioning into the feet of iron and clay? That is, if as you posit, Rome was already in existence at the time the prophecy was written, why does the author depart from the hard line transition between the gold, silver, bronze, and iron, and then make the iron transition into iron and clay (which is not a metal)? Shouldn't they simply make a clean break (so to speak) with another metal? Why the transition to another material like clay which is of a markedly different type of substance? Why would they introduce a mixture of metal and clay for the feet?
The answer is that it was beyond their comprehension. How could they have known that Rome would not fall like the other kingdoms? There is no way they could have fathomed that over time the Germanic tribes of Europe would gradually assimilate through various immigrations (and invasions) and which would lead to the successor states/nations of the Roman Empire, that is, namely Europe. The making of Europe was a combination of the culture and legacy of Greece and Rome which included both the customs and traditions of the Germanic peoples and the Christian faith (which largely absorbed and assimilated the other two).
It's an incredible stretch and act of faith to believe they had the insights to make this part of their narrative. The only way to explain the prophecy is that it came from God to Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel. And not in the second century B.C. as you posit, but on God's timing and sovereignty in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar (circa 603-602 B.C.).
We should closely examine these prophecies. They are a direct revelation from God and demonstrate His wisdom and power to know the end from the beginning.

@@topbuilder3790 We recognize that Ottoman/Islam is a very popular belief circulating the Christian church regarding end-time prophecy, however, to be very candid but polite, it has no scriptural backing. Based upon the patterns of Daniel 2, 7, 8, 11 and the three angels' messages in Revelation 14 culminating in the mark of the beast, it simply doesn't fit.
Everything we believe or conclude must be traceable to scriptures in a comprehensive framework that fits all of Daniel and Revelation.

You might argue that that hadent anything to do with what we belive about the text, but it does have it. Because if it is indeed a fabricated story from the time of the Maccabenians, how can you then use the texts as " proof " of knowledge 400 years earlier when they indeed did not have the Book of Daniel att that time. Only someone from the 6th century B.C. and well versed in Babylonian affairs could have provided the historical facts found in the book of Daniel.
Without even going into that evidence, simply read the words of Jesus in Matthew 24. Jesus Himself credits Daniel as the author of the book. Since Jesus credits Daniel as the author, we know the book was written in the 6th Century B.C.

@@williamtotherow3367 Why do you have reason to doubt the words of Jesus? If Jesus was truly of the deity, i.e. of the Godhead and one with the Father and Holy Spirit, why would we doubt His words. Jesus is all knowing and all wise. Why would He attribute the book to Daniel (who lived in the 6th century) if it wasn't true.
Another point to consider. If the book of Daniel was written at the time of Jesus, why does the author of the book of Daniel use gold, silver, bronze, and iron and then switch to iron and clay for the last part of the statue? No one could have foresight to predict the legs of iron (Rome) and its transition to the successor states of the Roman Empire. Given that that event would not happen until after 476 A.D. is an amazing prediction for someone in the first century.
We respectfully disagree with your conclusion that the book of Daniel was written in the first century.
Christians do not need to doubt the wisdom and omniscience of the divine God who can tell the end from the beginning. We should expect it.
