Moving to QLD at end of July-482 sponsored visa, studying to get pr asap but nervous and hoping we end up as happy as you guys! We are not unhappy here by any means, but you only live once so here goes.
Brazilian here, thinking about moving to Australia again, have worked in 2017 as a road technician in Sydney, miss this country so much. Your channel is very good, wish you good luck. Cheers mate
Thanks for all the content, all the reasons we moved 20 years ago, loving the lifestyle. Would like family to follow us, but still loving this wonderful country. ❤
This could easily be the "Help your spouse understand your feelings" video. This really helps put some of my feelings into words. You have a fantastic TH-cam channel and have done great work, very informative and helpful. Thank you.
Gosh Ross you do great videos. I wish i had someone like you when i came out, a great help. I have been here since 1977...never regretted the move. Brilliant country.❤
Well thought and well said Ross. Life is too bloody short to not get out there and live it. Speaking from experience… if you’re thinking about ‘something’ but don’t do it and then ultimately life kinda gets in the way, you would always end up thinking🤔 What If??
I came in 1970, TPP! And proud of it. Things were so different when I came. I got 4 jobs in one day and sat and chose which one id take, I was only a telephonist who could type! Jobs on every main road, vacancy signs everywhere, no excuse not to work if you could walk and talk. I missed my family but to be honest, not all families are very close, I made friends and some now feel like family. I hated the cold UK winters! 🥶 Misery for me, but Christmas does cheer up the uk winters. I’ve had problems here, not all plain sailing, but got through with good government systems and, once again, opportunities to work and take charge of your own life. I hope you’ve watched Ten Pound Poms on Stan, it gives a taste of the previous migrant experience, but our hostel was Sydney based and we were only there 2 weeks, like all the others, jobs, place to live, sorted, out and independent. That show is not typical of what we saw. It’s still a good migration option, but more expensive now to take that plunge. 👍🎉 Australia 🇦🇺 🦘 I love Australia, like a person 🌹
If I remember correctly , the rules of the 10 pound fare were that you had to stay for 2 years or pay full fare back to Britain . Some in the hostels near where I grew up i.e. the East Hills and Heathcote hostels did go back to Britain after a time and then realised they had remembered Blighty with rose coloured glasses and then came back to Australia for a second and forever time . We were TPP's too , I had my 5th birthday on the way out , we came by ship , through the Suez canal and all .
@@Gordon_L Yes, passport surrendered for first two years, which is fair enough and the right amount of time to adjust properly and make a proper decision. The motto amongst the migrants was that they didn’t really want us (semi skilled etc) - they wanted our children, like you, or our potential children.
@@ThatJohnstonLife A temp job in the office of a big bakery near where we’d rented a flat. It turned out to be a permanent position. The other jobs were one in GPO (now Telstra) operator helpdesk. I got that by filling in a form, no interview! “Start 9.00am Monday!” Another in an accountants office, very drab! The other was on David Jones city store switchboard. We decided on jobs by location, pay and if they had air con or not! True!
Workers in the Sydney comes from the suburbs as far as the central coast, blue Mountains and the south and so they mostly use the trains and buses to go to work in the city as it is expensive to drive to the city considering the tolls, petrol and parking space in the city. There are so many beautiful places to go for a drive and sight seeing and every suburbs have park facilities for the public to use for picnic and playgrounds.
I have been here for a decade now. I moved to get a climate where I could grow palms and tropical fruit. Have got that now in Sydney's Northern Beaches. If you're thinking of moving, remember that Australia has a lot of completely different climates and that below the Tropic of Capricorn Winter appears. It gets longer the farther south you go, Example -the next week's maximums in Sydney are 18 -20C
I stopped at 5:51 to say that I don’t think I could go back. My ancestor came here during the machine wrecker riots and arrived in Tasmania in 1830. I do think I can cope with that. Listen to Clancy of the overflow.
My wife and I are wanting to move to Australia with our 2 young kids (5 and 3) but we have no idea where to even begin. You have really given me more of a reason to want to move. Did you use an immigration agency or anything to help you with the move and give you information on what you need to do and in what order? Would ideally like to just buy a house straight away but then wouldn't be able to visit or see any of the area before hand. This is the part that puts me off but still really want to at least look into it and see if it is feasible in terms of budgetting and getting a new job!

Plenty of jobs in Australia...Queensland is to humid in summer ,Sydney bad traffic , Melbourne outer suberbs are modern good roads cold for 3 months has all seasons rarely gets above 40 degrees celcius Victoria has it all forests beaches snow fresh nice food ...Victoria is the smaller state but still bigger than England.if you can handle sweating alot go to Queensland if you like to be more comfortable go to Victoria.
